Manchester United duo, Axel Tuanzebe, and Anthony Martial were subjected to racist abuse on social media following their team's 2 - 1 defeat to Sheffield United on Wednesday night. Defender Tuanzebe, 23, made his first Premier League start of the season against the Blades and saw Oliver Burke's shot deflect off his left thigh past goalkeeper David de Gea with 16 minutes remaining. The Congolese defender was also booked and then substituted for Donny van de Beek in the 82nd minute as United lost their fourth Premier League match at home this season.  French striker, Anthony Martial also struggled in the game as he failed to make an impact for the Red Devils.  After the game, the pair were subjected to series of abuse by unimpressed racist fans with some leaving Monkey emojis on a picture of Tuanzebe on Instagram, leading United to call for social media sites to eradicate abuse posted by 'anonymous mindless idiots.'     A United club statement read: '...

  Iranian football legend, Mehrdad Minavand has died after a brief battle with coronavirus. He was 45.  The former midfielder was hospitalized on January 21 in Tehran after testing positive for the disease and died on Wednesday night, January 27.  Persepolis, where he played and served as a coach, said in a statement that the veteran has "bid adieu to Iran and Persepolis," paying tributes to him. FIFA also issued a statement, saying they are "heartbroken" over the death of Minavand, who helped Iran register its first-ever World Cup victory – 2-1 – against the USA in 1998. Iran's Sports Minister Massoud Soltanifar in his message described Minavand's demise as "a great shock for the sports community" and said he was an ambassador of Iranian football overseas. The Anambra State Police Command has reportedly arrested controversial prophet, Onyeze Jesus, real name Onyebuchi Okocha, the founder of Children of Light Anointing Ministries located at Nkpor, Idemili North local government area of the state.  This is coming days after the Anambra State Government condemned the 'criminal and indecent' conduct of the prophet after a viral video showed him and his followers in a river, where they bathed naked while he sprayed them with N50 notes. A source who pleaded anonymity said the prophet was reportedly arrested on Wednesday, January 27. “Onyeze Jesus is in police custody. He was arrested on Wednesday, 27th January 2021, and will likely be arraigned for various offences on Thursday, 28th January 2021." the source told Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS. The UK has released a new ‘red-list’ of high risk countries in a bid to keep mutant strains of coronavirus from spreading further. Travellers from the destinations on the red list will have to quarantine for 10 days in Government sanctioned hotels, or other suitable accommodation. Foreign citizens in the red-list countries are already banned from entering the country, while British travellers coming from countries in the red list will be escorted directly from the airport to their rooms, where they will have to pay a bill of around £1,500 for their stay.   Ogun State Police Command has arrested 25 suspected members of the Buccaneer cult group during an initiation ceremony in Abeokuta. The suspects were among 59 others paraded on Wednesday, for rape, kidnapping, murder, armed robbery, fraud, among others. Parading the suspects before journalists at the command’s headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, disclosed that the suspects were arrested along with three herbalists, who conducted the initiation.  The commissioner said the cultists were arrested following intelligence reports, that some cultists were planning to unleash mayhem on members of the public, after conducting an initiation rite for new members in Ita-Oshin area of Abeokuta.  Items recovered from the suspects include battle axes, cutlasses, weed, suspected to be Indian hemp, and costumes of their group.     Also paraded were three murder suspects Ugo Obi, Chinozo Jude and Chibuike Sams...

Friends are mourning following a report that a Nigerian businessman has died while in Dubai police custody. Prince Obieze Nestor, the C.E.O of Obieze oil & gas and Obieze motors Nig Limited, was reportedly arrested by Dubai police after he posted a video to Instagram flaunting wads of Dollars. The businessman known to post regularly on Facebook and Instagram, flaunting his wealth, posted for the last time on Jan 8. Friends left comments, asking why he hasn't been posting for a while. It later emerged that he was arrested on the 12th of January, 2021.     After his arrest, he was detained and denied access to his lawyer and girlfriend.     He is believed to have died during interrogation and his body has been deposited in the mortuary.     Friends took to Instagram and Facebook to express shock following news of his passing.   

A doctor in Italy has been arrested over claims he killed two coronavirus patients to ‘free up beds’ during the height of the pandemic in Italy.  Carlo Mosca, 47, is accused of giving patients Natale Bassi, 61, and Angelo Paletti, 80, lethal doses of anaesthetics at Montichiari Hospital near Brescia.  The incident allegedly took place in March last year, when shocking pictures showed Covid-19 patients lining in hospital corridors.  Police are also investigating another three deaths after reports Mosca altered the medical records of patients who died and he has now been put under house arrest at his home in Mantua, according to Metro UK.
