  The soldier who was caught on video assaulting a woman at an Oshodi branch of the United Bank of Africa in Lagos after jumping an ATM queue, has been arrested.  Spokesman for the 9 Brigade, Major Olaniyi Osoba who confirmed the arrest of the corporal identified as Omoh F said he is currently being detained as investigation is ongoing.    Osoba told Punch ;    "I can confirm to you that he has been detained and investigations are ongoing."   Recall that the lady had accused the soldier of assaulting her after she challenged him for jumping an ATM queue.

    Former Manchester City youth player Jeremy Wisten has died aged 17 as Raheem Sterling joined Manchester City in paying tribute. The Premier League club took to Twitter on Sunday evening to share the tragic news. City's official account wrote: "The Manchester City family are saddened to learn of the passing of former academy player Jeremy Wisten. "We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family. "Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time." Sterling quote tweeted the post with praying and flower emojis. Aymeric Laporte replied: "Horrible news... RIP young man." The cause of death is unknown at this stage and Wisten's family are yet to release a statement. A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise funds to 'give him the best send off he deserves'.

    Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, yesterday, insisted that there were only two recorded deaths and no bloodstain at the scene of the Lekki Toll Gate shooting. Several reports stated that no fewer than 30 protesters died as a result of the shooting which had generated public outcry after security operatives believed to be soldiers fired live bullets into the crowd of protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate at Admiralty Circle Way. Sanwo-Olu, who spoke to CNN’s Becky Anderson, said: “Two dead bodies, that is what we have seen from all the morgues, that’s what we have seen going to hospitals, that’s what we have seen as a record. “What has happened is that there have been so many footages that were seen, that people have shown, but we have not seen bodies, we have not seen relatives, we have not seen anybody truly coming out to say I am a father or a mother to someone and I cannot find that person.     British soldiers have arrested seven Nigerian stowaways, aboard an oil tanker, Nave Andromeda, off England’s south coast. The crew of the vessel were forced to take shelter around 1000GMT and called for help, when they were reportedly threatened by the Nigerians. “In response to a police request, the Defence Secretary and Home Secretary authorised Armed Forces personnel to board a ship in the English Channel… that was subject to suspected hijacking,” the Ministry of Defence posted on Twitter. “Armed forces have gained control of the ship and seven individuals have been detained,” the ministry said, adding that the crew were “safe and well”.  The Nigerians have not been identified.   Ahead of the November 3rd presidential election in the US, the founder and leader of a Nigerian Church, Living Christ Mission Inc, Daddy Hezekiah, led his members on a prayer walk for US President Donald Trump on Sunday October 25. The church members took to the streets of Onitsha, Anambra state with different banners campaigning for Trump to be elected for the 2nd term in office.   See photos below    

  The United Nation has raised an alarm of its asset in Calabar, Cross River State capital, being vandalized.  Edward Kallon, UN resident and humanitarian coordinator in Nigeria disclosed this in a tweet he shared which also came with photos of a mob destroying UN vehicles and invading the international agency’s facility in Calabar. Kallon who condemned the attack, added that the vandals were out to discredit the peaceful protests to end police brutality.   He tweeted;    “The United Nations in Nigeria strongly condemns attacks on its assets in Calabar by vandals who were out to discredit the peaceful protests to end police brutality. I call on youths to exercise restraints and engage in dialogue with the Government on their legitimate demands."
