  Tina Knowles-Lawson has opened up about the origin of her daughter Beyoncé's name. The fashion designer and businesswoman, 66, spoke about the unique name during Tuesday's inaugural episode of In My Head with Heather Thomson podcast. Tina said "Beyoncé" is actually her maiden name even though it's now widely associated with her famous daughter. She said: "A lot of people don’t know that Beyoncé is my last name. It’s my maiden name. My name was Celestine Beyoncé, which at that time was not a cool thing to have that weird name. I wanted my name to be Linda Smith because those were the cool names." The matriarch, who is mum to singer Solange, went on to say that several people in her family have the "Beyoncé" surname. Due to clerical errors, others - such as her brother and his children - now have "Beyincé" as their surname.   Premier League champions, Liverpool have finally agreed to sign midfielder Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich for £20m, plus £5m in adds-on.  Before now, Liverpool had been reluctant to pay an initial £27.3m for the 29-year-old Spaniard who has been linked with a move to the club since July.  It was confirmed this morning that Liverpool will now pay just £20m upfront for Thiago after they agreed on a bargain fee - with £5m in bonuses for the talented Bayern Munich midfielder, who will now sign a four-year deal and wear the No 6 shirt for the club.  Thiago would be the Premier League champions' second summer signing, after the arrival of Greece left-back Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos.  Thiago, who started his career at Barcelona, joined Bayern Munich in 2013 and has made 233 appearances for the Bundesliga champions. He won seven Bundesliga titles in a row and played in last season's Champions League final victory over Paris St-Germain. ...

  A 22-year-old Nigerian man identified as Ofon Phillip Idiong has been charged for killing his 22-year-old friend, Brian Njoku. The deceased was owing the suspect $40(N15k) and had reportedly been trying to pay via an online banking platform but the money kept reversing into his account. According to reports, "Ofon picked up Brian and they went to a mutual friend’s house at 8811 Gustine Lane, to watch a basketball match on Monday, September 7,2020. "The suspect asked for his money but Brian tried to explain the situation. An argument ensued and Ofon brought out a gun and shot him .” According to City of Houston News, Houston Police Department patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the crime scene and found Brian suffering from gunshot wounds. They administered first aid and quickly rushed him to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.   Proscribed group, Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), has bashed Pete Edochie after the veteran Nollywood actor raised alarm early this week alleging his life was being threatened after photos and video clips circulated, showing him playing a role that seemed like that of Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of the IMN, who has been held in detention by the Nigerian Army since December 2015.   In the yet to be released movie produced by Anosike Kingsley Orji, the Islamic Movement in Nigeria was reportedly depicted as a terrorist organization.   According to IMN, the movie titled “Fatal Arrogance” was sponsored by the " Nigerian Army to cover up the alleged December 2015 massacre of Shiites by soldiers where 348 people were allegedly killed."   Early this week, following backlash of the movie by IMN members, Pete Edochie claimed his life was being threatened. “I don’t understand what the IMN is driving at.   The LFP Disciplinary Committee in France has revealed punishment for the players involved in the mass brawl that overshadowed Paris Saint-Germain's clash with Marseille last weekend. Neymar was one of five players sent off after a fight broke out between Argentine pair Dario Benedetto and Leandro Paredes and then extended to other players at the end of PSG's shock 1-0 defeat to Marseille last Sunday.  On Wednesday, September, 16, the French football governing announced PSG full-back, Layvin Kurzawa, has been slapped with a six-game ban for his role after he kicked Jordan Amavi.   Amavi was slapped with a three-match ban with Marseille team-mate Dario Benedetto receiving a one-match ban.   Ramon Abbas a.k.a Hushpuppi has got more trouble coming his way as a new evidence has been submitted against him in California.  In the new evidence submitted against Hushpuppi who was arrested months ago in Dubai and extradited to the United States for allegedly being part of a network that made “hundreds of millions of dollars” from business email compromise frauds and other scams, he was accused of using his personal email to register on a website “whizzlog” which is a market place for buying US bank logs and money laundering. It was alleged that his email address contained registration confirmation from Whizzlog and numerous confirmation and receipts of bank logs he purchased.   Barbados has announced its intention to remove the Queen as its head of state and become a republic come 2021. The Caribbean island said it wants "full sovereignty" by the time it celebrates its 55th anniversary of independence from the UK in November 2021. A speech written by Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley quoted its first premier Errol Barrow who warned against "loitering on colonial premises". Reading the speech, Barbados' governor-general Dame Sandra Mason said: "The time has come to fully leave our colonial past behind. "Barbadians want a Barbadian head of state. "This is the ultimate statement of confidence in who we are and what we are capable of achieving.
