  Israel has announced it will be going into a national lockdown for the second time amid a new surge in Coronavirus cases. Israel fighting off a major death toll, now records over 4000 cases of the deadly virus daily.   Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has fired back at former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his comment of Nigeria becoming a failed state under President Buhari.  Obasanjo had in a statement on Friday September 11, said that Nigeria is “fast drifting to a failed and badly divided state" under Buhari who he described as ‘Divider-In-Chief’. However reacting to this, Lai Mohammed stated that  “those who genuinely love Nigeria will support, rather than subvert" Mr Buhari’s “committed leadership.” He added that those who planted the seed of insecurity in the country are the same ones “pointing an accusing finger at a reformist government”.   Following the recent flooding in Kebbi, Bauchi and Jigawa states, the Federal Government has advised state governments to take proactive measures to reduce the effects of heavy rainfalls this season. The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, gave the advice in a statement in Abuja on Sunday September 13, by her Special Assistant on Media, Mrs. Nneka Anibeze.      According to Umar Farouq, the states that will experience heavy rainfall and possible flooding this year include: Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, Bauchi, Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, Niger, Kogi, Enugu, Anambra, Imo, Abia and Rivers.   Others are: Akwa Ibom, Delta, Edo, Ekiti, Osun, Kwara, Zamfara, Sokoto, Lagos, Ondo, Bayelsa, Kaduna, Oyo, Ogun, Abia, Kano, Kebbi and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).   “The recent floods in parts of those states affirm the need for serious and urgent actions to be taken to safe...

 

  Two out of three herdsmen, who went into hiding after attacking a family in a farm settlement in Ogun State, have been arrested. The herdsmen stole a cash sum of N140,000 from the family then raped a 16-year-old member of the family on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Afowowa Gbelu Village in Ewekoro Local Goverment Council Area of the state. According to the State’s Police Spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects, Abu Adamu and Muhammadu Aliyu, alongside a third person who is now at large, invaded the farm settlement, attacked a family living in the farm settlement, dispossessed the family of a cash sum of one hundred and forty thousand naira after which, they took a 16-year-old daughter of the family to a cassava plantation, where they took turns on her.
