  Brenton Tarrant, the 29 year old far-right terrorist who killed 51 Muslim worshipers in New Zealand's worst mass shooting in modern history, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole. The sentence, which is the first type of sentence to be handed down in the country's courts, was passed on Thursday August 27, after Tarrant, an Australian citizen, pled guilty earlier this year to murdering men, women and children at two Christchurch mosques on March 15, 2019.  The youngest victim was just three years old.   On March 15, Tarrant made the 4.5 hour drive from the South Island city of Dunedin to Christchurch, around 360 km (220 miles) away.  At about 1.30 p.m. that day, as worshipers were taking part in Friday prayers, Tarrant sent a message to his family outlining his plans.   Mali's new military rulers have released ousted president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, who had been detained since the country's coup on August 18.  The junta known as the National Committee for the Salvation of the People (CNSP), said on Facebook on Thursday, August 27, it was "informing public and international opinion that former president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita has been released and is currently in his residence".   "President IBK is free in his movements, he's at home," a spokesman for the junta, Djibrila Maiga, told AFP, referring to Keita by his initials, as many Malians do. ''He is still being guarded by army officers since his release late Wednesday,'' said a person who spoke on condition of anonymity because he’s not authorized to comment publicly on the matter.   The Defence Headquarters on Wednesday August 26, announced that   410 members of the Darul Salam Terrorists Group have surrendered. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC yesterday August 26, released internet celebrity, Ismaila Mustapha alias Mompha, about two weeks after he was re-arrested by the anti-graft agency in Lagos.Mompha was re-arrested on Friday, August 14 when he went to the EFCC office in Ikoyi, Lagos to reclaim his five wristwatches, one Apple Air pod, one iPhone 8 mobile phone and one pair of sunglasses, seized by the EFCC operatives last October. Following an application by his lawyer, Gboyega Oyewole (SAN), Justice Mohammed Liman had on July 24 ordered the EFCC to release the items to Mompha Mompha had gone to the EFCC to pick up his item and had barely left the EFCC premises when the operatives accosted him and took him into custody.   A mother has died in an accident that occured while police officers were allegedly chasing a "Yahoo boy" in Benin. Mrs Grace Obajay, 29, was in an Uber with her one-year five months old baby, when a car rammed into them, flinging the baby out of the car, knocking the mother out, and also causing injuries to the Uber driver. According to Vanguard, the car that rammed into them was driven by a suspected Yahoo boy being chased by police. The auto crash occurred along Airport Road, Benin City, Edo State, last Friday, August 21. The mum, who worked as a Secretary with Floret Systems and was only two months from celebrating her second year wedding anniversary, had ordered the Uber after she closed work for the day when the accident occured. She was left bleeding from the mouth and nose and was unconscious following the accident.
