  A final year student in the Department of Biology Education, Nasarawa State University, lost his life while trying to rescue a trader who was being electrocuted at the GSM market in Keffi, the state capital on Monday, August 17.   According to reports, a mobile phone repairer, Junaudu Shaibu was about to pick up his tools when he was electrocuted by a nearby high tension wire. Zaidu had tried to rescue Shaibu when he got electrocuted as well.   He has since been buried according to Islamic injunctions. His family and friends have taken to social media to mourn his passing. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.🙏🙏🙏    

  A 60-year-old fake doctor identified as Charles George has been arrested for treating COVID-19 patients.  The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria who confirmed the suspect's arrest on Thursday August 20, said he was apprehended at his one-room apartment at Block 1, Julius Berger Junior Staff Quarters popularly known as Berger Camp in Kubwa, by police detectives from the office of the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory.   Nollywood filmmaker, Ugezu Ugezu has sparked off a debate on social media after sharing his opinion about women's fashion. In a post shared on his Instagram page, Ugezu stated that a woman becomes classless and stupid when she deliberately dresses naked in the name of fashion.   A teenager has been arrested and charged for killing his mother after his father watched their home security footage and saw him strangling his mother to death. 19-year-old Garrett Behlau is accused of killing his 54-year-old mother, Theresa Behlau. He was arrested on on Wednesday afternoon, August 19 after his father called Chattanooga police upon watching home security footage eight hours away. At around 2:30 p.m., Chattanooga police were called to a home in the Waterhaven subdivision located along South Chickamauga Creek, according to a news release. The caller told police he was about eight hours out of town but had just reviewed home security footage where he saw his son, Garrett Behlau, strangle his mother, Theresa Behlau, "until she was lifeless," Hamilton County court records state.  The man said he then saw Garrett Behlau drag his mother's body out of the camera's view.   A Nigerian man has told Cardi B that Jesus isn't the reason for her career success. He said this in reaction to a tweet shared by Cardi. Cardi, while reacting to the huge success of her latest song, WAP, wrote: "When Jesus say yes, nobody can say no."   And a Nigerian man responded, stating that Jesus saying yes is not the reason for Cardi's success because her music doesn't glorify God. He added that Jesus "doesn't roll with that."  

  Suspected members of the Boko Haram sect have attacked Kukawa, a town in Borno State, and reportedly abducted over 100 persons. According to sources in the Civilian Joint Task Force, the insurgents drove into the town with over 20 trucks and announced their entry with sporadic gunshots, engaging the Nigerian troops stationed in the town for over 30 minutes. Thisday reports that the insurgents reportedly abducted over 100 persons after they were able to suppress and push back the military.   “At around 4pm on Tuesday, terrorists in about 20 trucks overran the town of Kukawa. They engaged soldiers guarding the people in a ferocious firefight. After about 30 minutes of engaging the military in ferocious fire exchange, they (insurgents) were able to overpower them and went away with over 100 hostages.” a source said The Nigerian Army is yet to react to this recent development.

  A 57-year-old prophet, Ebenezer Ogunmefun, has been arrested and arraigned before an Ogun State Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Abeokuta for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl whose mother took to his church for spiritual cleansing. While being arraigned on a one-count charge of sexual abuse, the police prosecutor, Inspector Moshood Hammed, told the court that the clergyman who resides at No. 1 Prof. Ajibo Toluca Pioneer Street, Olomore area, Abeokuta, told the victim’s mother that she was possessed by evil spirits and needed to be cleansed thoroughly. The clergyman allegedly made the victim swear by the bible never to tell anyone he raped her. The police prosecutor said the offense contravened Section 33 of the Child Rights Law of Ogun State, 2006. The clergyman pleaded not guilty to the charge. The presiding Chief Magistrate, Solomon Banwo, granted the clergyman bail in the sum N750,000 with two sureties in like sum. ...
