  A former FBI agent, Ali Soufan, claims that Osama bin Laden's son, Hamza - since designated a global terrorist and added to the US counter-terrorism blacklist, has vowed revenge on the west for killing his father and is set to become the next leader of al-Qaeda. Soufan, who was the FBI's lead investigator of al-Qaeda after the 9/11 terror attacks, reportedly examined documents seized from Osama's Pakistan compound when he was killed by US Navy Seals in 2011.

New French President Emmanuel Macron has named parliamentarian Edouard Philippe from the rightwing Republicans party as his first prime minister. The choice of Philippe, a 46-year-old from the northern port city of Le Havre, will be seen as an attempt by Macron to attract other moderates to his new centrist Republique En Marche party (Republic on the Move, REM).

25-year-old scientist  Kara McCullough has been crowned as Miss USA 2017 on Sunday by 2016 winner  DeShauna Barber. This is the second year in a row that the winner is emerging from the same state, D.C. District of Columbia. The event was held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas and the new queen will go on to represent America in the Miss Universe contest.

  Wizkid , Davido , Tekno & Mr Eazi have all been nominated alongside four others for the 2017 BET Awards in the “ Best International Act: Africa ” category. Beyoncé is the leading nominee for the 2017 BET Awards with a total of seven nominations. Close behind is Bruno Mars with five nods, followed by Chance the Rapper , Solange and Migos tied at four a piece. ​Beyoncé’s seven nods include best female R&B/pop artist (vying against sister Solange), best collaboration (with Kendrick Lamar on “ Freedom ”), album of the year and video of the year. Mars, also up for album of the year and video of the year, nabbed a nomination as well for best male R&B/pop artist. Migos’ nods include best group and best collaboration for “ Bad and Bougee ” with Lil Uzi Vert . Best male hip-hop artist nominee Chance the Rapper is also a best new artist nominee along with 21 Savage , Cardi B , Khalid and Young M.A .

  Sidomex Universa l in conjunction with Sneeze Films has officially announced the release date of highly anticipated movie; Alter Ego , a movie directed by Moses Inwang .  Alter Ego, which is set to be premiered in cinemas nationwide on July 21 st first gained public attention in December 2016 when a racy sex scene between star actress and Nollywood icon, Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde and counterpart, Wale Ojo was leaked by an unknown source.

Nigeria is a land of opportunity. And I do not mean this the way Nigerian politicians usually mean it, as a cliched speech for the campaign trail. I mean this from the bottom of my heart because it is true and I have benefited from it and I can prove it.   Nigeria ought to change her educational model. Our educational system is still by and large a colonial model where the occupying colonial power merely trained a select few natives for the purpose of having clerks and translators to run their exploitative government. It was never designed to transfer knowledge that prepares the recipient to add value to Nigeria. Quite on the contrary, it was designed and still remains designed to train Nigerians to take value from Nigeria and give it to the West. This is one of the reasons why we have more Nigerian medical professionals practicing in the West and Saudi Arabia than we have in Nigeria.
