Students of the Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) in Lagos State have staged a protest over the death of one of their colleagues. The students were unhappy with the attention given to a female student, Dazan Charity, who fell ill some days ago and died on Wednesday. A friend of the deceased alleged that Charity was not attended to because they were unable to get 35,000 Naira requested by the medical attendants.

A teacher in southern Saudi Arabia opened fire on colleagues today, Thursday, Feb. 11, killing at least six people and wounding two. The brief reports on the state television channel’s website and Twitter account did not elaborate or offer a reason for the shooting at an education department building. It quoted an unnamed police spokesman for the information and said the suspected shooter was in custody.
