  The Nigeria Police Force has rescued two Colombian women allegedly lured to Nigeria and held captive by a human trafficking syndicate in Lagos.    The victims, identified as Maria Camila Rodas Ortiz and Yuliet Fernanda Rios Mesa, were rescued by operatives of the National Central Bureau (NCB-INTERPOL), Lagos Annex, following actionable intelligence from INTERPOL-NCB, Bogotá.   Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, will begin charging businesses for certain messages sent through the WhatsApp Business Platform from October 1, 2026.   This was disclosed in a WhatsApp Business Platform pricing update in July 2026.   The new charges will be applied to companies using the official WhatsApp Business Platform, formerly known as the WhatsApp Business API, to manage customer conversations at scale.   Banks, fintechs, e-commerce companies, telecoms operators, logistics firms and large retailers that rely on the platform for customer service and transactional communication are among those that could be affected.   However, the development will not affect ordinary WhatsApp users or most small businesses using the standard WhatsApp Business app on their phones.   Under the current system, when a customer sends a message to a business, a 24-hour customer service window opens.   The Trump administration has asked the Supreme Court to uphold its policy banning transgender Americans from serving in the military, the latest significant case involving trans Americans to reach the conservative court in recent years.       Days after taking office last year, Trump signed an executive order directing the Pentagon to ban transgender service members as incompatible with military service. The administration is appealing a ruling from a federal court in Washington, DC, that sided with a group of trans Americans who were already serving.     “The authority of the US military to determine who may serve in the nation’s armed forces is a matter of exceptional importance,” US Solicitor General D.
