  Golf legend Tiger Woods is set to make his first court appearance following his  DUI arrest and car crash.   Woods, 50, was detained on March 27 after flipping his SUV while trying to overtake a truck and trailer at high speed in the billionaire enclave of Jupiter Island.  After police found two opioid painkillers in his pocket, Woods was charged with DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test.     Nearly five months on from the crash, it's been revealed that Woods will finally make his first courtroom appearance over the matter in early September.       The date had reportedly been postponed a number of times amid prosecutors continuing the investigation process in South Florida.   The 15-time major winner will be represented by attorney Douglas Duncan.   US President Donald Trump has claimed that some people died by suicide over the way they were treated by the administration of former U.S. President Joe Biden, but did not identify the individuals or provide evidence to support the allegation.    Trump made the claim during a full interview with WABC alongside former personal lawyer Michael Cohen on Sunday, August 23. “We had many suicides, people committed suicide over this,” Trump said, before blaming what he described as “vicious people” in the Biden administration. Trump also criticised the administration of former President Barack Obama and turned his attention to former government officials who have since moved into private-sector and media roles.   A 23-year-old man from Omaha, Nebraska, who used ChatGPT to plan a bank robbery has been sentenced to 121 months in federal prison for robbing a bank and brandishing a firearm during the crime.   Deron Lewis-Payne was sentenced on August 13, 2026, in federal court in Omaha after pleading guilty to bank robbery and brandishing a Llama Mini-Max .45 handgun during a crime of violence.   United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods announced the sentence, saying District Court Judge Robert F. Rossiter Jr. sentenced Lewis-Payne to 37 months for the robbery and an additional 84 months for brandishing the firearm.   A 38-year-old Brazilian woman who claimed to be a 12-year-old girl has been jailed for deceiving a couple who took her in. Amanda Maria Souza de Oliveira tricked the couple into caring for her while hiding her real age.     According to Mail Online, she pretended to be handicapped and to have the mental age of a    child – even drinking milk from bottles and sucking on dummies.     She has now been sentenced to a year-and-a-half in prison for fraud in a case that gripped Brazil.     The extraordinary sequence of events began with Oliveira attending services at an evangelical church in Joinville, southern Brazil.   Russia is likely to mobilize another 300,000 troops later this year, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as it tries to complete the capture of a long-coveted region of eastern Ukraine.
