  Japanese Olympic silver medallist and former Keirin Grand Prix champion Toshiaki Fushimi has died at the age of 50 after crashing during a race at the Matsusaka Keirin tournament in Mie Prefecture. Fushimi sustained fatal injuries on Saturday after losing control while attempting to move through the field during the race. According to the Japan Keirin Autorace Foundation (JKA), he swerved to avoid riders who had collided ahead of him before crashing into a safety barrier. He suffered fractures to his cervical vertebrae and skull and was rushed to hospital, where he died at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, the JKA confirmed.   A 13-year-old boy has lost his life after part of a fountain collapsed in Salamanca province, northwestern Spain, during the country's World Cup victory celebrations.   People were celebrating Spain's victory inside the Árbol Gordo fountain in Salamanca's Ciudad Rodrigo, when it partially collapsed around 00:30 local time (23:30 BST).   The teenager was inside the fountain with other youngsters when the upper part of the structure collapsed and fell on top of revellers who were inside it.   Police removed the debris on top of him to free him and rushed him to a nearby health centre, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.   Two other young people were injured, emergency services told the BBC, including one child who was taken to hospital with a possible broken bone in his leg.   It said in a statement: 'The City Council of Ciudad Rodrigo expresses its sorrow and condolences over the death of the 13-year-old child.   'The entire city of Ciud...

  Rapper Travis Scott was allegedly involved in an altercation at the exclusive Zero Bond private club in New York on Saturday night after he reportedly confronted another guest whom he believed was filming him. According to Page Six, the incident occurred during a performance by rapper 50 Cent at the NoHo venue. Sources claimed Scott approached the guest after suspecting he was being recorded, leading to a confrontation that quickly escalated. Witnesses alleged that bottles were thrown during the altercation, although it remains unclear whether Scott personally threw any objects or whether members of his entourage were responsible. Security personnel reportedly intervened and brought the situation under control within a short time. "It all happened really fast," an insider told the publication.   Actress Destiny Etiko has vowed never to be so invested in professional football again after losing a N5 million bet on the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.   Etiko disclosed this in an Instagram post on Sunday night, shortly after the match concluded in Spain’s favour.   “First time betting and I lost.   Andy Burnham has officially become the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after King Charles III invited him to form a government following the resignation of Sir Keir Starmer. Burnham was appointed on Monday, July 20, after the King accepted Starmer's resignation during an audience at Buckingham Palace before inviting the former Greater Manchester mayor and Labour leader to become the country's new prime minister.   Canadian rapper Drake has once again found himself at the center of the infamous "Drake curse" after losing a $1.5 million bet following Spain's victory over Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.   Ahead of Sunday's showpiece at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Drake shared a betting slip showing he had wagered $1.5 million on Lionel Messi's Argentina to defeat Spain in regulation time.   Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has been elected Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Faye was elected on Sunday during the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government held in Lungi, Sierra Leone. He succeeds Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Bio, who previously chaired the regional bloc. In another milestone for Senegal, Birame Diop, the country's former Minister of the Armed Forces, was elected President of the ECOWAS Commission for the 2026–2030 term. The appointment marks the first time since ECOWAS was established in 1975 that a Senegalese national has been elected to lead the Commission. Diop succeeds Gambian diplomat Omar Touray, who has served as President of the ECOWAS Commission since 2022.   US vice president JD Vance and his wife ​Usha have welcomed their fourth child.   JD Vance, 41, said the baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, ​was born on Sunday, July 19, at Walter Reed National Military ⁠Medical Center, in Bethesda, Maryland.   He announced the birth on social media with a statement signed by him and his wife.   "We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning.
