  Tansian University has reacted to the viral reports alleging that a Catholic priest was caught engaging in inappropriate activity with a female student on campus.   In a statement released by Rev. Fr. Peter Uche Onuoha, the school described the reports circulating online as false, misleading, and sensationalized. According to the statement, the incident was allegedly linked to a security confrontation involving unidentified armed men and internal tensions surrounding the university’s leadership, not any immoral act involving a priest and a student. The statement further claimed that one of the priests involved reportedly ran into a female hostel while trying to escape the chaos during the confrontation, which may have fueled the rumours spreading online.   The institution also warned against spreading unverified reports, insisting that no priest was caught engaging in any sexual activity as widely alleged on social media.

  FIFA  are preparing a major compensation package for football clubs whose players will represent their countries at the 2026 World Cup. According to Melchor Ruiz of El Partidazo de COPE, clubs are expected to receive more than €9,000 per player per day throughout the tournament. The payments will apply not only to clubs that own the players’ contracts, but also to teams where footballers are currently playing on loan. The 2026 World Cup will be staged across the  United States ,  Canada,  and  Mexico , running for 38 days from June 11 to July 19. With the tournament expanding to 48 teams for the first time, clubs are expected to lose players for longer periods than in previous editions, increasing concerns over player workload and fixture congestion. The compensation programme is designed to ease those concerns and reward clubs for releasing players for international duty during one of the biggest sporting events in the world.

  FBI Director Kash Patel clashed with Democratic senators during a heated Senate Appropriations Committee hearing over allegations involving excessive drinking, erratic behaviour, and misuse of government resources. The tense exchange unfolded on Tuesday, May 12, as Senator Chris Van Hollen questioned Patel about reports claiming FBI staff allegedly had to force entry into his home because he was “so drunk and hung over.” Van Hollen also raised concerns about Patel’s reported use of government funds for personal travel, including trips to sporting events and his girlfriend’s singing performances. Patel fired back aggressively during the hearing, accusing Van Hollen of “slinging margaritas” in El Salvador with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Salvadoran man wrongly deported by the US government last year. “The only person that was slinging margaritas in El Salvador on the taxpayer dollar with a convicted gangbanging rapist was you,” Patel said.   A wife allegedly shot and killed her husband at their Alabama home for checking on her too much after her open heart surgery. Sheri Mitchell-Clutts, 65, was arrested on Sunday night, May 10, after allegedly admitting to killing her husband, 69-year-old Timothy Clutts, at their rural Russelville residence, according to jail records.   Deputies arrived and discovered Timothy lounging in his recliner, dead with a single gunshot wound to his chest, the outlet reported.     When Mitchell-Clutts called 911, she allegedly told cops she felt threatened by her husband before she shot him — but investigators who interviewed her got another side of the story, Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver told the outlet.   The enraged wife allegedly admitted to killing her husband of 15 years during a conversation with investigators, Oliver recalled.   She later informed officers that Timothy was annoying her by repeatedly coming into her room after she underwent open...

  Ethiopian marathon runner, Yebrgual Melese, has died at the age of 36 after falling ill in training.   Melese was preparing for a race in Ottawa on May 24, but she had a sudden medical emergency in Addis Ababa, her nation's capital. She was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday, May 12,  but medics were unable to save her, according to local media. 'The Ethiopian Athletics Federation expresses its deep sorrow over the sudden passing of this heroic athlete and offers condolences to her family, friends, and fans,' a statement read.   Melese had won the Houston, Shanghai, and Prague Marathons in the past. The long-distance star was one of the favourites for the race in Ottawa later this month.   Her best time was 2:19:33, which she posted in Dubai in 2018. That landed her 13th on the all-time list in speed for a women's marathon.   She also finished second in the Boston Marathon, one of the foremost seven races of the distance in the world, in 2015.
