  A member of staff at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, in Lagos, Frank Omorojie, returned a lost purse containing cash and important travel documents to its owner at the departure hall of Terminal 2.   The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 29, at the Rwanda Air check-in area, where Omorojie reportedly discovered the misplaced item.   The purse contained $1,700, a Nigerian and British passport, as well as a credit card.   Omorojie reported the recovered item to Aviation Security, AVSEC, personnel without hesitation.   Following standard airport procedures, the recovered belongings were properly documented and transferred to the Customer Service unit, which quickly made a public announcement to locate the owner.   A Nigerian passenger scheduled to travel to Kigali, Rwanda, who had already feared the items were lost permanently, was soon reunited with all her belongings intact.   Airport officials commended Omorojie.   A grand jury has indicted a Louisiana sheriff whose office came under investigation after 10 inmates broke out of a New Orleans jail in an audacious escape that happened on her watch.   According to the NY Post, Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson is not accused of helping the inmates pull off the brazen jailbreak through a hole behind a toilet, setting off a monthslong search before all the escapees were eventually captured.   A father is facing a slew of child neglect charges after he allegedly left his three children to perish in a house fire.   Joshua Kannin, 39, was charged with child neglect on April 21 for allegedly leaving his young children in his burning Kenosha home on Thanksgiving Day in November 2025, while he ran outside because he "panicked." Rylee, 10; Connor, 9; and Alena, 7, all died in the fire.     Kenosha police responded to 911 calls on November 27, 2025, where a distressed Kannin - only wearing his underwear - was begging for help, according to a complaint.    First responders found the two brothers on the first floor and the young daughter on the second floor.  The two boys died at the scene, while Alena was taken to the hospital with severe burns covering a staggering 80 percent of her body.   A court has heard disturbing allegations against Jamie Varley, who is accused of abusing and murdering a 13-month-old boy he was in the process of adopting with his partner, John McGowan-Fazakerley. The child, Preston Davey, had been placed with the couple in April 2023, but prosecutors say he was subjected to repeated mistreatment, including physical assaults, s3xual abuse and the taking of indecent images. Just four months later, he died in hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest. Jurors were told Preston had around 40 injuries, many believed to be non-accidental.   US President Donald Trump has instructed US national security officials to prepare for a long-term blockade of Iran’s ports to compel Tehran to dismantle its nuclear program, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.   The report suggests that Trump does not believe Iran is negotiating in good faith. He is reportedly pushing for a deal that would force Tehran to suspend uranium enrichment for 20 years and accept stringent restrictions beyond that period.   “They better get smart soon!” Trump declared in a post on his social media platform.   Citing unnamed officials, the Journal stated that Trump reached this decision during a Monday meeting in the White House Situation Room. He reportedly concluded that either resuming bombing campaigns or walking away from the conflict entirely presented too much risk.    Instead, he directed the US Navy to continue squeezing Iran’s vital oil exports until the government agrees to all of Washington’s demands.

  Thai police have arrested three Nigerian nationals and a Thai woman in Pattaya in connection with a transnational romance scam network that used bank “mule accounts” to channel illicit funds, authorities said.   The suspects were detained on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 during a raid on a hotel in central Pattaya by tourist police and regional investigators.  Officers seized 12 mobile phones and 12 bank accounts linked to the operation.   Police said the group was part of a wider international fraud network that targeted victims through online romance scams, persuading them to transfer money into accounts controlled by the syndicate.   The Thai suspect, a 41-year-old woman from Chon Buri, allegedly sourced bank accounts for the group and handled cash withdrawals and transfers.    Authorities said she received around 2,000 baht per account and additional commissions, with earnings reportedly reaching up to 30,000 baht per day.   Investigators said the...

  A young couple from Pennsylvania, who were high school sweethearts, have died in an apparent murder-suicide carried out by the husband of less than two years after their wedding.   Ryan Hosso, 26, gunned down his physician assistant wife, 25-year-old Madeline Spatafore, inside their Butler, Pa., home early Tuesday before retreating into nearby woods, where he turned the gun on himself, according to Pennsylvania State Police.   Hosso called his parents at some point between Spatafore’s murder and his suicide. During the brief call, he confessed to killing Spatafore and threatened to take his own life, cops said.   Hosso’s parents reported their son’s erratic behavior to authorities around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.   When officers responded, they found Spatafore dead inside the home.
