Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has officially signed his new contract with Napoli to June 2026. Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis made the announcement himself by posting images of Osimhen signing the paperwork with only one word: ‘Done!’ According to Sky Sport Italia, Osimhen's salary will increase to €10m per season after tax. There will also be a release clause, believed to be set at €120-130m, valid only for clubs outside of Italy during the summer. On Friday, Romano noted that “the agreement between Napoli and Victor Osimhen on a new deal is 100% done and confirmed. Oshimen joined Napoli from Lille in €75m deal in September 2020. He helped the club win the Scudetto, becoming the first-ever African Capocannoniere of Serie A and African Player of the Year.    

Controversial rapper, Blueface has been sued by Soulja Boy 's baby mama, Jackilyn Martinez, after claiming he slept with her the day before her baby shower, among other things.    Recall that Blueface and Soulja Boy have been beefing heavily on social media this week, which started after the two began arguing about who would win in a Verzuz battle.   Things escalated quickly and Blueface made some pretty outlandish comments to Soulja Boy about Jackilyn, which includes, "Because I fucked your baby mama the day before your baby shower."     In the lawsuit filed on Friday, December 22, Jackilyn claimed Blueface made false and defamatory statements about her and her child. The Super Eagles of Nigeria ended 2023 as Africa’s sixth-best team and 42nd in the world in the latest FIFA monthly rankings. The Naija stars  suffered only one defeat but recorded four wins and three draws in 2023.  On the African continent, Morocco retained their number one spot and 13th in the world.  Senegal, who also maintained its 20th place in the world, is in second place. Tunisia also remained unmoved in the current ranking as they are placed third in Africa and 28th globally.  Algeria and Egypt who compete in the top five places in Africa also finished the year in the 30th and 33rd position in the world respectively. World champions, Argentina retained their number-one spot in the world ranking after their 1-0 win over Brazil in last month’s World Cup qualifier.   A woman has appeared in court in the UK after she was charged with murdering her young son.      Keziah Macharia, 41, of Montague Road in Dalston, Hackney, appeared in custody at Thames Magistrates' Court on Friday morning charged with killing her son Kobi Macharia Dooly, four, who was found with fatal knife injuries at a home in London on Wednesday, December 20.      A further appearance has been scheduled for the Old Bailey on December 28. She entered no plea, and remains in custody ahead of her next appearance.   A special post-mortem is scheduled to take place on the same day, the Metropolitan Police said on Friday morning.     Police launched an investigation after they were called to an address in Montague Road at around 10.50pm on Wednesday.      Officers say they were called to the address following what they called 'concerns for the welfare of a child'.    Detectives say Kobi was found...

Nigeria international, Moses Simon has signed a two-year contract at French ligue 1 club, Nantes that will see him remain at the Maison Jaune until 2026. Simon joined the Canaries on loan from Spanish club Levante at the start of 2019/20 season but after his good performances the move was made permanent the following campaign. The winger expressed his excitement after signing the new contract. “I am delighted to continue the adventure here and very happy to stay in Nantes! I am ready to continue fighting to help the team go as high as possible. What is certain is that This contract extension is a real proof of confidence in the Club, as well as in the team,” Simon told the club’s official website. Simon has scored 29 goals and provided 31 assists in 163 appearances across all competitions for the Canaries. Moses, 28, expected to be named in Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.  

The US Supreme Court gave Donald Trump an early Christmas present on Friday, December 22 refusing to step in and make a quick decision about whether the former president enjoys immunity from the federal charges against him for attempting to challenge the 2020 election results.   There were no noted dissents from the unsigned order by the Supreme court, which makes it almost certain that Trump's trial on four counts will not begin as scheduled for March 4 while the immunity question makes its way through the courts.   Special counsel Jack Smith had requested that the nine justices of the supreme Court immediately “make a decision” on Trump’s immunity, arguing in a Thursday filing that “public interest in a prompt resolution of this case favors an immediate, definitive decision by this Court.”   The favorable ruling for Trump comes as he prepares to appeal a ruling by Colorado’s Supreme Court removing him from the state’s GOP primary ballot over his actions du...

The embattled former petroleum minister during the regime of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who ran to the UK for the fear of the EFCC Diezani Alison Maduekwe has now begged Nigerian government for leniency.   A statement released by EFCC says Mrs Diezani, who is reportedly suffering the second stage of her cancer, is begging president Bola Ahmed Tinubu to allow her to come back to Nigeria to confess to her misappropriation while in office.  Mrs Diezani was answering questions from the press in London after a medical visit.  The former Petroleum minister, who was accused of stealing Nigeria’s money, amounting to billions of dollars, revealed that she is now ready to open up about the money she allegedly misappropriated while in office as the minister of Petroleum.   ‘’I am a born again Christian and currently suffering from second stage cancer, which my United Kingdom’s physician adviseded me to continue taking medication for the rest of my life.   Veteran Nollywood actor, Dejumo Lewis, has died at the age of 80.  Actor, Saidi Balogun, shared the sad news on his Instagram account on Saturday, December 23. Sharing the photo of the late veteran, Saidi wrote;  “Good night DEJUMO LEWIS, may your soul rest in perfect peace. RIP.”   It is not yet disclosed what led to his death. Lewis is a Nigerian film and television actor, famous for the Kabiyesi role in The Village Headmaster, Nigeria’s longest-running television soap opera shown on NTA from 1968 to 1988 that stared Justus Esiri and Femi Robinson and many others.   May his soul rest in peace, Amen.
