An Illinois appeals court has upheld the conviction of former “Empire” star Jussie Smollett for orchestrating a hate crime against himself nearly five years ago.   Smollett was convicted in December 2021 on five felony charges of disorderly conduct and was later sentenced to 150 days in the Cook County jail.  Smollett had told Chicago police that he was assaulted by two men who uttered homophobic and racist slurs, put a rope around his neck, and said he was in “MAGA country” — ignited a media frenzy as investigators concluded that Smollett had paid the men to carry out the attack. Despite the jury’s verdict, Smollett, who was dropped from the final season of “Empire.” has maintained his innocence.   On a 2-1 vote, the First District Appellate Court rejected his appeal on Friday.   Justice David R. British boxing legend, Chris Eubank's son has been charged with raping a girl near Brighton Palace Pier.     Joseph Eubank, 27, from Hove, East Sussex, was arrested and charged with two counts of rape of a woman over 16 following the alleged incident on July 16, 2022.   The girl was said to have reported being raped by a man near the pier on that evening. Specialist officers then supported her while an investigation was launched.     Eubank is the youngest son of former superstar boxer Chris Eubank Snr, 57, and the brother of professional boxer Chris Eubank Jr, 34.   Sussex Police said he had been released on bail with strict conditions and is due to appear before Brighton Magistrates' Court in about six weeks on January 11,2024.

Former Manchester United academy star, Ravel Morrison has been convicted of fraud and fined £1000 after being caught using a dead person's blue badge to park his car. Morrison admitted guilt at a magistrates court in the city on Thursday December 1, after being charged with one count of fraud.  His Audi A3 was impounded earlier in the year after he was given a penalty ticket for parking his vehicle on Bridgewater Street in Deansgate. The blue parking badge that had been used by Morrison was discovered by parking wardens to no longer be valid having belonged to a person that died in February 2022.  His Audi was given a ticket and then taken to a parking impound before being retrieved by Morrison later in the day. The 30-year-old explained in an interview under caution that he purchased the blue badge from 'someone in Old Trafford' for £50, Manchester City Council said. Siavash Sobhani, retrospected medical doctor and long-time resident of North Virginia, has been stripped of his citizenship at the age of 61.   Sobhani, who was born in the US, told The Washington Post that he received a letter from the US State Department in February, following his application for a new passport, stating that his father was a diplomat at the Iranian Embassy and he should not have been awarded citizenship at the time of his birth.   The letter states that children born in the United States to parents enjoying diplomatic immunity do not automatically become citizens of the United States. It said Sobhani enjoyed diplomatic immunity from the jurisdiction of the US at the time of his birth and so he did not acquire citizenship.   But this is Sobhani’s first experience with this problem in his more than thirty years of practicing medicine. The inmate who stabbed former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin in prison did so 22 times, it has emerged.   Former Mexican Mafia member John Turscak, 52, stabbed Chauvin inside a Tucson federal prison and said he would’ve killed him if corrections officers had not responded so quickly, prosecutors said.   He purposefully attacked on Black Friday, Nov. 24, as a symbolic connection to the Black Lives Matter movement, according to investigators.   He is now charged with attempted murder, assault with the intent to commit murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and assault resulting in bodily injury.   Turscak — who is serving a 30-year sentence for crimes committed while working as an FBI informant – said he thought about stabbing the ex-cop convicted of killing black man George Floyd by kneeling on his neck during his arrest for months before the act.   Turscak attacked Chauvin with an “improvised knife” with the “intent to do bodily harm” and to “co...

Lil Wayne is being sued by his former bodyguard who claims the American rapper 'punched' him and 'threatened him with a gun'. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Carlos Christian alleges that Wayne, 41, brandished a semiautomatic rifle and 'threatened to shoot him' during an altercation in December 2021. The guard also claims the hitmaker, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., 'punched him in the ear' during the incident, which took place at Wayne's Hidden Hills, CA home. Christian called the cops at the time and accused Wayne of threatening him with an AR-15, but sources close to the musician denied the incident took place and claimed Wayne didn't even own a gun.   The guard reportedly took the gun threat seriously, as Wayne previously spent time in prison for weapons charges.
