Former South Africa footballer, Papi Khomane, has tragically died in a car crash alongside his mother and uncle, his old club Orlando Pirates have revealed. Khomane, 48, who made nine international caps for Bafana Bafana and 151 domestic appearances for Orlando Pirates, was on his way to a funeral in Newcastle, South Africa on Saturday, November 25, when he, his mother Rita, and uncle were involved in a tragic car accident.  Confirming the sad news, his former club said: 'Orlando Pirates are saddened to learn of the passing away of former captain Papi Khomane. A two-year-old boy is now fighting for his life in hospital after he was brutally beaten by his drunk mother's friend who was babysitting.   Giovanni Reichert has undergone multiple operations over the past several months after his mother asked her friend McKinley Sloan Hernandez, 25, to watch over him. ‘I received a text message from the suspect saying I needed to rush to St Anthony’s Hospital because my son had gone lifeless after a bath,’ Stefanie Reichert told KDVR. ‘Once I saw him and all the 50 doctors standing around him, I had to leave the room because it was the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life.’   Giovanni was airlifted to a children’s hospital after ‘being harmed by the hands of a trusted caregiver’, states a GoFundMe page set up for him.   Reichert said that Hernandez would often watch her son and other kids at an unlicensed childcare facility at her home in Lakewood, Colorado. A mum has shared her ‘upset, anger and disbelief’ after her two young children died while using scuba tanks in a friend’s pool. Suzie Dudas’s two children, Zale, 9, and Saxon, 7, were were in a family friend’s swimming pool when they used scuba tanks unknowingly filled with helium instead of oxygen.   They lost consciousness in the water and sank to the bottom. Despite the efforts of Suzie’s ex-husband and medical staff after rushing them to hospital, Zale and Saxon both died four days later on April 27, 2021. Last May, police announced they wouldn’t be filing charges in what it called the ‘heartbreaking tragedy’ – but Suzie is campaigning for the investigation to be reopened.  She says she can’t understand why the tanks weren’t checked and how both of her children died when the tank only had one breathing tube. Pope Francis has called for the continuation of the truce in the Gaza Strip for the release of all hostages and for humanitarian aid access into the territory.
