Sheffield United footballer, Maddy Cusack has died at the age of 27, the club has revealed. Cusack, named vice-captain last month, had just started her sixth season with the Blades in the Women’s Championship and was the longest-serving player in their current squad.  A statement on the club’s official website read: ‘Sheffield United Football Club is devastated to report the sad news of the passing of Maddy Cusack.   ‘Maddy, a women’s team player since 2019 and marketing executive for the Football Club, passed away on Wednesday. ‘A respected player, Maddy, 27, last season reached the milestone of 100 appearances for Sheffield United Women.  ‘Additionally, she was a valued colleague in the offices at Bramall Lane, moving over from the Sheffield United Community Foundation to the club in 2021 to help market all areas of the Blades.’ ‘The club and Maddy’s family would appreciate a period of privacy and will not comment further at this sad time.’   Cusack joined ...

Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped a place in the latest FIFA Coca-Cola world ranking. The Super Eagles who were ranked 39th in the rankings released in June, lost three points and dropped to 40th despite their  6-0 victory against  Sao Tome and Principe in their last game of the AFCON qualifiers. The ranking was published on FIFA’s official website on Thursday, 21 September 2023.   In Africa, the Super Eagles are sixth behind 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finalists Morocco (1st), 2021 AFCON winners Senegal (2nd), Tunisia (3rd), Algeria (4th) and Egypt (5th). World champions Argentina tightened their grip at the top of the ranking thanks to a 1-0 win against Ecuador and a 3-0 away success against Bolivia in their opening FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has confirmed the resignation of Mr Godwin Emefiele as its governor, three months after being suspended from office by President Bola Tinubu.   Olayemi Michael Cardoso who was nominated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will act as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, pending his confirmation by the parliament.  A statement released by the apex bank says Cardoso's assumption follows the resignation of the immediate past governor of the bank, Godwin Emefiele,   The statement added that the Deputy-Governors-Designate of the bank have also assumed duty, in acting capacities sequel to the formal resignation of Mr. Folashodun Shonubi, Mrs. Aishah Ahmad, Mr. Edward Lametek Adamu, and Dr. Kingsley Obiora as Deputy Governors of the CBN.   ‘’Dr. Cardoso and his colleagues subscribed to the relevant oaths of office at a brief ceremony held at the Bank’s Head Office in Abuja, on Friday, September 2023, and have since settled dow...

Blac Chyna has reportedly served her ex-partner Tyga's mother, Pasionaye Nguyen, with legal papers seeking joint custody of their son, King Cairo.      According to reports from  RadarOnline , the model served Tyga’s mom with legal papers as she battles with her ex over custody of their son, King Cairo.     The mother of two hired a process server to track down the rapper at his home in Los Angeles, according to court documents obtained by the outlet.     The server made his way to the West Hollywood residence on September 1, telling the court that he handed Tyga’s mother, Pasionaye Nguyen, the paperwork at 7:03 PM. Julian Nagelsmann has been officially announced as the new head coach of the German national team. The German Football Association announced today that the former Bayern Munich manager will succeed Hansi Flick as the new manager of the senior men's national side.   Germany parted ways with Flick earlier this month, a day after their 4-1 home loss to Japan in a friendly match. Nagelsmann agreed to a contract that runs until the end of next year's European Championship in Germany. His assistant coaches will be Sandro Wagner and Benjamin Glück.   "We have a European Championship in our own country. That's something special - something that happens every few decades. I will do everything so we can have a great tournament in our great country," said Nagelsmann. "I have a great desire to take on this challenge.   Olympic gold medallist, Walewska Oliveira has died suddenly at the age of 43.     Oliveira played volleyball for Brazil and won gold at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. She also represented her country at Sydney in 2000, where she won bronze before also competing in Athens in 2004.      She died in Sao Paulo and her cause of death has not yet been confirmed to the public     Oliveira, who made her debut for Brazil in 1998 helped her country to a World Championship silver medal, while they also made two World Cup finals with her in the team.     Following the tragic news, the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV) said: 'With sadness and immense regret, the CBV received the news of the death of Olympic champion Walewska on Thursday night.   'At this difficult time, CBV sympathizes with the family and friends of this great player.'     CBV president Radames Lattari added: 'Walewska was a special player, her caree...
