King Charles III has formally been crowned King in the historic first Coronation in 70 years today.   He was crowned at Westminster Abbey in London by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.     The king was crowned while seated in the Coronation Chair, holding the Sceptre with Cross in his right, gloved hand and the Sceptre with Dove in his left hand. He was crowned with St. Edward's Crown, which was created in 1661 and will only be worn during the ceremony.     After the crown was placed on his head, the bells at Westminster Abbey rang for two minutes. King Charles was then escorted from the Coronation Chair to the throne.   Before the crowning, King Charles was presented with the coronation regalia.     He was first presented with the spurs, which "symbolize knighthood," followed by the Sword of Offering; two armills made of gold, known as "bracelets of sincerity and wisdom;" the Coronation Orb, "symbolising the Christian world" ...

The monarch and his wife smiled to the congregation as they walked through the church for a Christian ceremony that dates back for 1,000 years.     The two-hour service, pared back from his mother's in 1953, is a pivotal moment in the history of the Royal Family and will balance ancient tradition and a future in the 21st century.   As the bells of Westminster Abbey rang out, the King and Queen left the carriage.   King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla have left Buckingham Palace in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach as the historic first Coronation in 70 years began today.   While the national anthem was being played, the crowds shouted God Save the King as he started on his 1.3-mile journey to Westminster Abbey through streets lined with 2million people and 7,000 British troops.   The Diamond Jubilee State Coach, drawn by six Windsor grey horses, arrived at Buckingham Palace for the King and Queen at 10am. Members of the Mounted Division of the Household Cavalry have already lined up at the entrance to The Mall ahead of the King's Procession to Westminster Abbey.   More than 100 million people around the world are about to watch the historic first coronation of a British monarch in 70 years,  with an estimated 2 million people on the streets of London to watch history unfold.   See more photos below…    

  Siqokoqela Mphoko, son of former Zimbabwean Vice-President Phelekezela Mphoko, has been handed a 20-year prison sentence for three counts of rape. Siqokoqela was also given a concurrent two-month sentence for violating a court order by Bulawayo Regional Magistrate Elijah Singano, who found him guilty of violating the victim’s constitutional rights.   The age difference between Mphoko and the victim was three times, demonstrating the former’s low morality.    He reportedly threatened the victim with death if she revealed the matter to anyone. It was also gathered that the victim looked up to Mphoko as a father figure, but he betrayed her trust, violating the rights of both the victim and her family.   Mphoko’s lawyer argued for a reduced sentence, citing his medical condition and family obligations.   Princes Harry and Andrew will have no formal role at the Coronation of King Charles at Westminster Abbey today, Buckingham Palace has confirmed. The Duke of Sussex, 38, and Duke of York, 63, will be mere spectators to the historic occasion since they are no longer working royals.   The two men will also be absent from the procession behind the Gold State Coach that will carry the newly crowned King and Queen to the Palace after the ceremony. This means they will miss out on stepping out onto the balcony at the Palace for a traditional photo op following the service.   All eyes will be on Harry as he faces his relatives in public for the first time since he criticised Charles, Camilla, and the Prince and Princess of Wales in his explosive tell-all memoir Spare.   His wife Meghan Markle will remain at home in California with their children, Archie and Lilibet, celebrating the former's fourth birthday which falls on the same day.   Sources last month ...

Actress Georgina Onuoha has reacted to reports of the sentencing of former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, his wife Beatrice and their doctor, Obinna Obeta.  Concerning the sentencing, Georgina it serves them right.    She wrote;   ‘’And let the choir say Amen. Serves them right. Do not take advantage of anyone because you are in a place of power. Dear Nigerian doctors, nurses and caregivers, do not sacrifice your licenses for anyone let alone Nigerian politicians who deliberately neglect our health care system back home but can rush overseas to be treated by the same Nigerians clinicians they treat poorly back home. As for the ex senator I hope they can extend his imprisonment. This same man was given millions if not billions to build hospitals back home in his state, he embezzled it. King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla have arrived at Buckingham Palace to prepare for his historic Coronation.   The monarch was welcomed by huge crowds as he was swept into his central London home at 9am - 90 minutes before the start of the procession. On the short journey from Clarence House, the King, 74, looked solemn and thoughtful at times, in what is undoubtedly the biggest day of his life.     More than 100million people around the world are about to watch the historic first coronation of a British monarch in 70 years - with an estimated 2million people on the streets of London to watch history unfold.   The monarch had been heir since the age of three, and is now ready to officially become the King.   VIP guests queued for a mile from 6am to get one of the prime 2,300 seats inside.
