The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared that Covid-19 is no longer a "global health emergency". The WHO’s International Health Regulations Emergency Committee took the decision at its 15th meeting on Covid-19 on Thursday, May 4.   Speaking at a conference on Friday, May 5, the WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said he concurs that the public health emergency of international concern, or PHEIC, declaration should end. “For more than a year the pandemic has been on a downward trend. This trend has allowed most countries to return to life as we knew it before Covid-19,” Tedros said. “Yesterday, the emergency committee met for the 15th time and recommended to me that I declare an end to the public health emergency of international concern. The Central Criminal Court, Old Bailey, UK, has sentenced former Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, to nine years and eight months in prison for organ trafficking.    The court also sentenced his wife, Beatrice, to four years and six months jail term.  The doctor helping the couple out, Dr Obinna Obeta was sentenced to 10 years in prison.   Recall that on March 23, the court found Ekweremadu, his wife, Beatrice, and their doctor, Obinna Obeta, guilty of trafficking a trader from Nigeria to the UK to harvest his organ, a crime under the United Kingdom Modern Slavery act 2015. The jury held that they conspired to bring the 21-year-old to London to exploit him for his kidney.   The verdict is the first of its kind under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 of the UK.

Sonia Pizarro , famous for her starring role on the reality TV show “Operation Repo” is dead.  Sonia's niece, Lyndah Pizarro who confirmed her death, said she died in her sleep on Wednesday evening May 3, in Arizona.  While she's most known for her work on the TruTV series, 60-year-old Sonia also acted in movies including 2009's "Repo Chick" and, most recently, the 2018 flick “Followed.”   Sonia has had major health issues in the past. In May 2018, she was hospitalized after suffering a stroke.   Sonia leaves behind 3 children, Ruby, Robert and Froylan Jr., as well as her grandchildren; Bryant, Brie and Danica.
