At least eight students and a security guard are dead after a shooting at a school in Serbia's capital, Belgrade.   A teenage boy opened fire at a school in Serbia's capital Wednesday, May 3, killing eight children and a school guard, police said. Six more children and a teacher were injured and hospitalized.   Police identified the shooter by his initials, K.K., and said he had opened fire with his father's gun. He was arrested in the schoolyard, police said.   A statement identified him as a student at the school in central Belgrade who was born in 2009.   Police said they received a call about the shooting at the Vladislav Ribnikar primary school around 8:40 a.m. Primary schools in Serbia have eight grades, starting with first grade. "I was able to hear the shooting. It was non-stop," a student who was in a sports class downstairs when the gunfire erupted. "I didn't know what was happening. A woman who accused Donald Trump of molesting her on an airplane during a flight in the late 1970s testified Tuesday May 2, in support of the writer E. Jean Carroll, who alleges that a flirtatious 1996 encounter with the future U.S. president ended in a violent sexual attack.   Jessica Leeds, 81, of Asheville, N.C., said Trump accosted her with what seemed like "40 zillion hands." She joined other witnesses who supported the testimony of Carroll, a longtime advice columnist who publicly aired her claims against Trump in 2019, when she published her memoir. Trump has repeatedly denied the claims, saying Carroll lied to sell books and disparage him.   The witnesses were meant to support Carroll's testimony that Trump raped her in the dressing room of a luxury department store in midtown Manhattan.   Some of the serious charges against American singer, Trey Songz, has been dropped after he took a plea deal in the bowling alley attack case against him.   Recall that Trey was accused in October of punching a woman repeatedly in the face in a NY bowling alley bathroom, with the woman claiming he also dragged her by her hair. Another man also claimed the singer punched him in the eye during the incident. Songz turned himself in to police a few weeks later.   Songz pled guilty to a single disorderly conduct violation in connection with the incident on Tuesday, May 2, and it was gathered that prosecutors agreed to dismiss the 10 original charges against him which include assault and aggravated harassment.   As part of the plea deal, Trey now has to complete 12 anger management classes by August, and sources close to the case told TMZ he's already gotten a head start on them.  

American sprinter and Olympic gold medalist, Tori Bowie has died at the age of 32. 'We're devastated to share the very sad news that Tori Bowie has passed away,' Icon Management Inc. said in a statement on Wednesday morning, May 3.  'We've lost a client, dear friend, daughter, and sister. Tori was a champion…a beacon of light that shined so bright! We're truly heartbroken and our prayers are with the family and friends.' This statement did not reveal or release the cause of Bowie's death.     According to reports from TMZ, she was found dead on Tuesday May 2, in Florida. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he had no conversations with the White House after a trove of classified US intelligence documents were posted on social media. The documents allegedly leaked by 21-year-old Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira disclosed a blunt US intelligence assessment of the war in Ukraine, as well as details revealing US intelligence collection on allies such as Ukraine, South Korea and Israel. Defense and intelligence sources say the leak exposed glaring weaknesses in how the Pentagon safeguards its most sensitive secrets. In response, the US Air Force suspended two leaders of Teixeira’s Massachusetts Air National Guard unit last Wednesday, a week after that unit ceased its intelligence mission amid an investigation. Teixeira faces charges under the Espionage Act after allegedly posting the sensitive intelligence to the social media platform Discord, but has yet to enter a plea. The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has announced that they are working towards conducting a clinical trial for Lassa fever vaccine in the country. This was disclosed on Tuesday, May 2, by NCDC Director-General, Ifedayo Adetifa.    Speaking at a Lassa fever research colloquium and workshop organized by the  NCDC in collaboration with University College London and Johns Hopkins Program for International Education in Gynecology and Obstetric, Adetifa said the first phase of the clinical trials, which are human trials to establish safety, would be held in Ghana, while the later stages focusing on immunity and efficacy, among others, would be done in Nigeria.   The trial sites include the Lassa fever centres in Irrua, Edo state, Owo, Ondo state and  Abakaliki in Ebonyi state among others.   Adetifa also said the focus of the colloquium was to advance the collective efforts towards combating Lassa fever through sharing new ideas, ...

  The man accused of killing five neighbours in a rural Texas home was taken into custody on Tuesday, May 2, after a four-day search.  The hunt for 38-year-old Francisco Oropeza began on Friday, April 28, after he fled from the scene of the deadly shooting in the rural town of Cleveland, about 45 miles north of Houston. The shooting happened after Oropeza’s neighbours asked him to stop firing off rounds in his yard because a baby was trying to sleep. The baby’s mother and 9-year-old brother were among the five people killed.  The victims, all immigrants from Honduras, were identified as Diana Velazquez Alvarado, 21; Julisa Molina Rivera, 31; Sonia Argentina Guzman, 25; Jose Jonathan Casarez, 18; and Daniel Enrique Laso, 9. Law enforcement believed Oropeza fled on foot. They found clothes and a cellphone in the area around the home, which includes a dense forest, Capers said. Christine Costner, wife of actor Kevin Costner has filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage.  TMZ reported that Christine filed for divorce on Monday, May 1, and cited the usual “irreconcilable differences” as reason for the split.    Kevin's rep who confirmed the development, said;    “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action. We ask that his, Christine's and their children's privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”   The "Yellowstone" star and his estranged wife share 3 children; ages 12, 14 and 15. Christine is asking for joint custody of the kids. Kevin filed his response Tuesday, in which he also asks for joint custody.   It was also learnt that Christine is not asking for spousal support as there was a prenup. This is the actor's second marriage.

  A final year student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) identified as Maria Precious Tunde, has died in her sleep. According to the Nigerian Tribune, the sad incident occurred on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the deceased off-campus hostel, located at Ekosodin Village, a student town near the school. It was gathered that late Maria was a final year student in the Faculty of Education, Ugbowo campus of the institution. Sources also disclosed that the deceased was hale and hearty before going to bed on Saturday night, April 29, 2023.    All efforts to resuscitate her proved abortive. Co-tenants subsequently invited her parents to the scene.      

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has threatened a Women’s World Cup broadcast blackout in five major European countries over unacceptable offers of media rights for the tournament. Australia and New Zealand will co-host the 2023 Women’s World Cup from July 20 until August 20.   Infantino noted “broadcasters pay $100 to 200 million for the men’s FIFA World Cup, but they offer only $1 to 10 million for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.” Infantino urged broadcasters to pay a “fair” price for the media rights for the tournament, FIFA announced in a statement on Monday, May 2.   He called the current offers a “slap in the face of all the great FIFA Women’s World Cup players and indeed of all women worldwide.   So far, FIFA has agreed to media rights deals with 156 territories for the 2023 Womens’ World Cup. Police have arrested a mum who allegedly hacked her five-year-old son to death with a machete and cooked and ate part of his head. The arrest was made after the boy's horrified uncle found body parts in buckets at the home in Abu Shalabi, Egypt, local Egyptian media reported.  Officers were shocked when the suspect, Hanaa, confessed that she had eaten part of her son's head because she "wanted him to stay with her forever".   The 29-year-old reportedly killed the terrified boy with four blows to the head before butchering his body in the bathroom.   Then, she allegedly cooked his head and other parts of his flesh in boiling water on the stove before eating them.   After her arrest, she claimed to the police in Faqous, Ash Sharqiyah Governorate, that she "suffers from a mental illness" and had not intended to kill her son.  The woman and the victim, Youssef, had been living alone after her separation from her husband, who insists that she knew exact...
