An Argentine appeals court on Tuesday, April 18, confirmed that eight medical professionals accused of responsibility in the death of football legend Diego Maradona will face trial. Among those accused are a psychologist, a clinical doctor, a medical coordinator, nursing coordinator and nurses.   Maradona died in November 2020 aged 60 while recovering from brain surgery for a blood clot, and after decades of battles with cocaine and alcohol addictions.   He was found dead in bed two weeks after undergoing surgery, in a rented house in an exclusive Buenos Aires neighborhood where he was brought after being discharged from hospital. He was found to have died of a heart attack. Neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov and six others had appealed a 2022 decision to put them on trial for homicide with potential aggravating circumstances.   India is on its way to become the most populous country in the world, overtaking China with almost three million more people in the middle of this year, according to United Nations on Wednesday, April 19.   The demographic data from the United Nations Population Fund’s (UNFPA) “State of World Population Report, 2023” estimates India’s population at 1,428.6 million or 1.4286 billion against 1.4257 billion for China. According to the latest data, the United States is a distant third, with an estimated population of 340 million. The cause of death of musician, Aaron Carter has been revealed.   Carter was found dead on November 5 in a bathtub at his home in Lancaster, California. He was 34 years old. He was “unresponsive” and had no “life-threatening traumatic injuries” at the time of his passing, his autopsy report also states. He was pronounced dead at the scene.   The late musician died from drowning and the effects of difluoroethane, a flammable gas that is often used as the propellant in cans of compressed air, and alprazolam, a generic form of Xanax, according a copy of his autopsy report released on Tuesday, April 18.  The manner of death was ruled accidental according to the autopsy.   The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s report also confirmed that Carter was “submerged” in his bathtub after “inhalation of compressed gas and intake of alprazolam.” Difluoroethane is a “colorless, odorless gas” which can cause “frostbite” and is “easily ignited.” while alprazolam is a med...

"Smallville" star Erica Durance and her actor husband David Palffy , have split.    A rep for Erica, who played Lois Lane on the superhero TV show told TMZ that the couple decided to separate amicably.  The date of separation and reason is unclear at the moment but they are yet to file for divorce. A newborn baby girl dumped inside a pit latrine within Rioma Catholic Church compound in Marani, Kisii county of Kenya has been rescued by the police.    The National Police Service (NPS) said the baby estimated to be four days old was retrieved from the latrine by police officers from Rioma Police Station on Tuesday, April 18.   This came after a local alerted the police about hearing a baby crying inside the latrine at around 2:30 pm on Tuesday.    A statement released by the police read;    "Police at Rioma Police Station responded to report made by a member of public, that there was a voice of an infant emanating from a pit latrine, within Rioma Catholic Church compound.   A bombshell $787m settlement has been reached in the defamation trial between Dominion Voting Systems and Fox News .   The settlement ended a dispute over whether the network and its parent company knowingly broadcast false and outlandish allegations that Dominion was involved in a plot to steal the 2020 election.   Dominion sued Fox News in 2021, demanding $1.6 billion in damages. It said the network defamed it when it broadcast baseless claims that it was tied to the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, that it paid kickbacks to politicians and that its machines “rigged” the 2020 presidential election by flipping millions of votes for Trump to Joe Biden.   Aja Volkman, wife of Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds has filed for divorce from him after 10 years of marriage.    TMZ reported that Volkman filed the documents on Tuesday, April 18th, 2023, in Los Angeles, nearly one year after they announced their separation.   The Radioactive singer, 35, and Nico Vega frontwoman, 43, tied the knot in March 2011.   The Federal Government will be increasing the excise tax on tobacco products from 30 per cent ad-valorem to 50 per cent.  This was disclosed by Head of Tobacco Control Unit, Noncommunicable Disease Division, Federal Ministry of Health, Dr Mangai Malau, on Tuesday, April 18, at the National Tobacco Control Budget Advocates Meeting in Abuja. Police in Chicago, Illinois, USA have arrested a man who allegedly robbed the same retail business 11 times between December 2022 and April.   Chicago Police Department officials said in a press release on Tuesday,  April 18 that Donte Elbert, 36, of Chicago was arrested on West Belmont Avenue. "He was taken into custody b/c he tried to pass the last point of sale…without paying for merchandise," a representative for the Chicago Police Department told Fox News Digital. The police added that the personnel at the store Elbert robbed 11 times, which is located on the 3200 block of N. Clark Street, signed formal complaints, which led to his arrest. Elbert also allegedly stole merchandise from a different location on the 3200 block of N. Broadway. He now faces nine felony counts of retail theft of merchandise less than $300, three felony counts of retail theft of merchandise with a value of more than $300, and one misdemeanor count of criminal trespassing.   ...
