Cristiano Ronaldo has been named in Roberto Martinez's squad for Portugal's upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers.    Portugal will play both Liechtenstein and Luxembourg as part of their route toward the European Championships later this month.   Ronaldo was named in Portugal's squad for the fixtures after Martinez reportedly met with Ronaldo to discuss his future involvement.   Ronaldo has 196 international caps, the joint-most in men's football. He also scored 118 goals in a Portugal shirt to date, with further opportunities to add to that tally this month. This is despite turning 38 last month.   Martinez told reporters: 'Cristiano Ronaldo is a very committed player. He can bring experience and is a very important figure for the team. Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has agreed to lift his veto on Finland’s application to join Transatlantic military alliance, NATO. After Russia invaded Ukraine, Finland, which shares an 832-mile border with Russia, was forced to reconsider its foreign and security policy of military neutrality and apply for NATO membership. If Finland joins, it would be the 31st member of the alliance. The move will surely strengthen the west’s ability to retaliate against any future Russian threat across the Baltic Sea.   After a meeting with the Finnish president, Sauli Niinistö, in Ankara on Friday, March 17, Erdoğan said he would recommend to the Turkish parliament that it vote to back Finland’s application to join. World Health Organisation has predicted that COVID-19 may likely be over as a public health emergency in 2023.   The Director General of the Organisation, Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus disclosed this at a virtual media briefing on Friday, March 17.    Recall that COVID-19 was declared a public health emergency of international concern on January 30, 2020, when there were fewer than 100 reported cases of COVID-19 outside China, and also no reported deaths outside the Communist country.   A public health emergency of international concern is the highest level of alarm that the WHO can sound under international law.   During the briefing, the WHO chief said there were now almost seven million reported deaths from COVID-19, although the actual number of deaths was much higher. . “We are certainly in a much better position now than we have been at any time during the pandemic. Former U.S. President Donald Trump has returned to social media platforms Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, two years after he was banned following the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on Congress by his followers.   On Friday, March 17, Trump shared a video that appeared to be from one of his previous election speeches.  His return to the platforms gives him access to key vehicles for political fundraising, allowing him to reach a combined 146 million followers across three major tech platforms as he makes another run for the presidency in 2024. Hollywood actor, Lance Reddick, who got into the limelight after featuring in HBO's "The Wire" and the "John Wick" movie franchise, is dead.    Lance's body was discovered at his Studio City home Friday morning, March 18, around 9:30 AM. His cause of death is currently unclear, but it appears to be natural, according to the police.   He was reportedly doing a press tour for the fourth installment of the 'John Wick' franchise where he plays Charon. He was scheduled to make a guest appearance on Kelly Clarkson 's show next week.   Lance was best known for playing fictional Baltimore Police Department officer Cedrick Daniels on the hit HBO series “The Wire”, with his character appearing in all five seasons. He also had recurring roles on a bunch of popular TV shows including "Fringe," "Bosch," "Oz" and "Lost." He was also featured in "Angel Has Fallen" and "Godzilla Vs. Kong."   ...
