Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has stated that Mexico is a safer country than the United States, weeks after the high-profile kidnapping of four Americans drew global attention to the country’s security crisis. “Mexico is safer than the United States. There is no issue with traveling safely through Mexico. That’s something the US citizens also know, just like our fellow Mexicans that live in the US,” he said during his daily morning press briefing. The kidnapped Americans were traveling in the Mexican border city of Matamoros in early March when they came under attack by gunmen believed to be linked to the Gulf cartel. Two of the Americans and a Mexican bystander died during the attack. Ukraine has accused two Russian soldiers of sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl and gang raping her mother at gunpoint in front of her father, in new allegations of abuse carried out during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The South African Police Service (SAPS) has launched a manhunt for armed men who assisted six Zimbabwean prisoners awaiting trial to escape from custody in Makhado.   Local publications reported that on Monday, 13 March 2022, a group of heavily armed suspects attacked police officers along the Vivo road next to the first Sxhoemansdal turnoff outside Louis Trichardt. The suspects fired gunshots at the cops guarding the six detainees who were about to go on trial.   After subduing the cops, the armed men drove off with the six prisoners in a grey Mercedes Benz and a white Toyota Bakkie.   Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo confirmed the incident and revealed the identity of the prisoners who fled. A 3-year-old girl in Texas shot and killed her 4-year-old sister with an “unsecured” weapon on Sunday, March 12. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the two toddlers were playing unsupervised while five adults gathered with family and friends in a Houston apartment.   “At some point, it appears that one parent thought the other parent was watching the other children when in fact the two toddlers were left basically unsupervised inside the bedroom,” the sheriff said.   In the bedroom, the children found a loaded semi-automatic pistol.   “Family members heard a single gunshot. They ran into the room and found the small toddler, four years old, on the floor unresponsive,” Sheriff Gonzalez said. Gonzalez said the adults were able to quickly secure the weapon after the gunshot and call 911, but the injured child was still pronounced dead at the scene.   A North Korean agent faces a firing squad after he was caught using his internet privileges to 'google' Kim Jong Un. This comes after several employees keeps watch on all internal and external electronic communications, were caught surfing the web without authorisation. But a Pyongyang source said a colleague of the agents at the Ministry of State Security informed them and a subsequent inspection revealed their illicit research.   The agents were dismissed, and one who researched Kim Jong Un now faces a firing squad, a ministry source told Daily NK, a newspaper based in neighbouring South Korea.
