  A boy who went missing 8 months ago has been found alive nearly 2,000 miles from home.  Breadson John, of Vancouver in Washington, was found in Jasper, Missouri, on Feb. 17, the FBI’s Seattle division confirmed on Tuesday, Feb. 21.   Breadson, who also goes by the nickname Brxsan, was first listed as missing on June 17, 2022, when Vancouver police were unable to locate the boy during a welfare check after family members became concerned.    At the time of his disappearance, authorities said Breadson might have traveled to Hawaii, where he was born, or  to Arizona or the Pacific island nation of the Federated States of Micronesia.  Investigators learned that the boy was possibly in Missouri in August, and subsequently recovered him with the help of local police, according to KGW8.  As of Wednesday, Feb. 22, authorities had not released more details about who had taken Breadson or how long he had been away from hom...

  The man convicted of fatally shooting rapper Nipsey Hussle was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison in a Los Angeles courtroom Wednesday, Feb. 22.  Eric Holder was convicted of first-degree murder in July for the March 31, 2019, killing of Hussle in a parking lot outside the rapper’s South Los Angeles apparel shop. He was 33.  Superior Court Judge H. Clay Jacke handed down the sentence Wednesday after hearing from one of Hussle’s friends and listening to a letter from Holder’s father.  Holder's sentencing hearing had been postponed several times, including most recently Nov. 3. The sentencing has been delayed in part so defense attorney Aaron Jansen could argue to reduce Holder’s conviction to manslaughter or second-degree murder, which the judge rejected in December.  Holder was also found guilty of two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter after two other people were injured in the shooting.  Hussle, who was born...

Roman Catholic church leader, Pope Francis has renewed his appeal for an end to the war in Ukraine, calling it “absurd and cruel,” during his general audience at the Vatican on Wednesday February 22. The Pope has frequently called for peace since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 last year.   The approaching one-year mark is "sad," Francis said on Wednesday, February 22, as he once again appealed for a cease-fire.   “Let us ask ourselves,” the Pope said, “has everything possible been done to stop the war?”  Francis said that the numbers of deaths and the toll of economic and social destruction caused by the war “speak for themselves.”   “Let us remain close to the martyred Ukrainian people,” he said. “Peace built on rubble will never be a real victory.”

A Spanish-language teacher has been stabbed to death in class by a 16-year-old French high student claiming to be “possessed” and hearing voices. The deadly attack took place today, Wednesday, Feb. 22, at a private Catholic school named after Saint Thomas Aquinas in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, a high-end beach resort town in southwestern France. The victim was a 54-year-old female teacher who was identified by French news outlets as Agnes Lassalle. Bayonne prosecutor Jerome Bourrier said the teenage suspect was taken into custody and interviewed by investigators Wednesday.     A criminal probe has been launched for suspected premeditated murder. Bourrier added that the 16-year-old student had no prior interactions with police or the justice system.     A top government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said early details communicated by the police suggest the teen suffers from serious mental health issues. A television reporter was among the dead in a shooting spree in Florida that killed three on Wednesday February 22, while covering one of the shootings, police said Keith Melvin Moses, 19, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to a shooting Wednesday morning. Moses is expected to be charged in four other shootings that occurred later in the day, including the killing of the Spectrum News 13 journalist.   Police said Moses has a lengthy criminal history that includes gun charges, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and assault with a deadly weapon. Deputies responded to the 6100 block of Hialeah Street around 11 a.m. Wednesday where they located a woman in her 20s who was shot and died from her injuries.
