Minister of Housing and Works, Babatunde Fashola has said that there's need for the naira redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to be reviewed.  Speaking during an interview with media personality, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, the Minister stated that the scarcity of the new Naira notes is hurting Nigerians. Fashola said;    I feel sympathy for the Nigerian people and what they have had to go through. Sometimes policies play out like this in the process of implementation, sometimes it all ends well and sometimes it calls for reconsideration and review. In spite of the fact the CBN has acted within the spirit and letters of its independence by law, it is important to remember that we serve the public and the public says it is hurting, it is important to take a step back and ask where it is hurting and how we can make it better. It must not be a matter of ego.

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted the Commissioner for Women Affairs in Cross River State, Gertrude Nnanjar Njar, in Calabar. An eyewitness, Samuel Okon, told the News Agency of Nigeria that she was forcefully taken out of her official car by masked young men on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.  According to Mr Okon, they whisked the commissioner away in their car and abandoned her own car in Calabar South. Kalita Aruku, Special Adviser to Gov. Ben Ayade on Information, confirmed her kidnap on Thursday, February 2.   Yes, security sources have informed us that the Commissioner for Women Affairs has been kidnapped. As we speak, security operatives have launched a manhunt for the kidnappers with a view to arrest them and rescue the victim unharmed, he said.

Tom Giradi, a disgraced Los Angeles attorney and estranged husband of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Erika Jayne, was on Wednesday, February 1, indicted by a grand jury f or allegedly embezzling more than $15 million from his clients.  The Department of Justice said Giradi who is the co-founder of the defunct Los Angeles law firm ?Girardi Keese?, will now be charged with five counts of wire fraud which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison . Girardi and Christopher Kazuo Kamon, the former controller and chief financial officer of the law firm Girardi Keese, are accused of lying to their clients in order to misappropriate settlement funds.      The attorney and his former CFO allegedly used the clients? winnings to fund payroll, other clients? settlement funds that had previously been misappropriated and personal expenses.   A 19-year-old has been arrested and charged in Iowa for a charity scam after faking cancer to get donations.  The Eldridge Police Department booked  Madison Russo  on a first-degree theft charge this week, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison if convicted.   She was arrested on Jan. 23, but has since bonded out. She is due back in court on March 2.   The 19-year-old lied on TikTok and GoFundMe to get donations that ran into tens of thousands.     Cops allege Russo lied about 3 different diagnoses that she'd publicly been touting for at least a year, including leukemia, pancreatic cancer and a tumor "the size of a football."   Throughout much of 2022, Russo had gone viral on TikTok while documenting her health journey, which the authorities are now saying was completely made up,  and which entered criminal territory after she raised upwards of $37k on GoFundMe from 439 donors.   On social media, she...

World's oldest footballer Kazuyoshi Miura has reportedly agreed to join a Portuguese club at the age of 55 following claims he wants to play until 60 Miura will join Portuguese second-division side Oliveirense on a loan deal until the end of the season from Japanese J-League side Yokohama FC. He has previously enjoyed successful spells in Japan, Brazil, Italy, Croatia, and Australia. A 60-year-old man died after he was involved in a massive brawl that broke out among spectators at a middle-school basketball game in Vermont, US.   State troopers arrived at the Alburgh Community Education Center just before 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 31, after receiving reports of a large fight involving spectators watching seventh- and eighth-grade boys from Alburgh and St. Albans play basketball.   One man involved in the fight, 60-year-old Russel Giroux, of Alburgh, required medical attention following the fight, police said.   Giroux was taken to Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, where he later died.      Giroux?s death is being investigated by state police and the Grand Isle state?s attorney?s office.   Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced its 2023 nominees on Feb. 1  and rapper Missy Elliott reached a major milestone as the first female Hip Hop Artist to achieve the honor.   "This is an incredible honor.
