Chelsea's new £88million signing, Mykhailo Mudryk has apologised for using a racial slur in a viral video. The 22-year-old footballer was spotted using the N-word in a TikTok footage which has been viewed nearly 214,000 times. Though sources close to the Ukrainian winger insist he was just trying to recite lyrics from US rapper Lil Baby’s 2017 hit Freestyle, fans and campaigners blasted the Ukrainian winger, 22, for using the language in the TikTok clip “irrespective of context”.   Mudryk has now issued a grovelling apology for the video. His representative told The Sun:   “Mykhailo is deeply sorry for any offence caused by the video posted on his TikTok account last July. “Whilst his intention was solely to recite lyrics of a song, Mykhailo regrets his decision and wholeheartedly accepts it was not appropriate. "The video has since been removed.”

  Actor Alec Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed will be charged on Tuesday, January 31 with involuntary manslaughter for the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Western "Rust" in 2021, a New Mexico prosecutor said. The charges come after 15 months of speculation whether Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies would find evidence Baldwin showed criminal disregard for safety when a revolver gun he was rehearsing with fired a live round that killed Hutchins.   The actor has denied responsibility for the shooting, saying he cocked the revolver but never pulled the trigger and it was the job of Gutierrez-Reed and other weapons professionals to ensure it was unloaded. A female teacher could be looking at a lengthy sentence after she was accused of having an affair with one of her students. Cali Heikes, 25, was arrested after allegations emerged that she picked up a 17-year-old student from his home three times a week and took him to a cemetery where the pair would have sex, according to authorities in Nebraska, US. Wayne County Sheriff Jason Dwinell's office confirmed the arrest after a deputy received a call on January 20 from a Department of Health and Human Services hotline claiming a teacher was thought to be in a sexual relationship with a student, court documents revealed. The same deputy claimed a traffic stop had been carried out just over a week earlier on January 12 when he saw two vehicles leaving the area around the Winside Cemetery. US President, Joe Biden has said he wouldn't send American fighter jets to Ukraine, even as the United States ramps up military assistance in the form of artillery and tanks.  Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has sought fighter jets to help sustain his war effort against Russia. Biden has consistently said the planes aren't on the table, even as he has given aid in other areas.   F-16 jets will take the war to a whole different level as Ukraine can use fighter jets to launch invasive attacks in all areas of Russia barring Russian air defenses. A woman who was clinically dead for over fourteen minutes, has shared her afterlife experience.  Dr Lynda Cramer who was on the way to her bathroom before she 'died' in the early hours of the morning on May 6, 2001, is claiming that she went to heaven during the time paramedics rushed to save her. Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has said that banks in the country will continue to accept the old Naira notes after the stipulated deadline.  Speaking during an interactive session with the house of representatives ad hoc committee on the currency redesign and Naira swap policy on Tuesday, January 31, Emefiele stated that the CBN will also accept the old naira from banks after the February 10 deadline. He also referenced a CBN act which mandates the apex bank to continue to accept old notes after its expiration.   Section 20 (3) of the CBN act reads;   “Notwithstanding sub-sections (1) and (2) of this section, the bank shall have power, if directed to do so by the president and after giving reasonable notice in that behalf, to call in any of its notes or coins on payment of the face value thereof and any note or coin with respect to which a notice has been given under this sub-section, shall, on the expiration of the...

A sixth Memphis police officer has been placed on administrative leave in the aftermath of the violent arrest that led to Tyre Nichols' death. The officer, Preston Hemphill, was relieved of duty amid an ongoing internal investigation at the Memphis Police Department, a spokesperson confirmed on Monday.   The details of Hemphill's involvement in Nichols' arrest were not disclosed by Memphis Police. Hemphill was relieved of duty at the beginning of the police department's investigation, at the same time as the five who were charged.   Lee Gerald, an attorney representing Hemphill, told CBS News that his client "was the third officer at the initial [traffic] stop of Mr. Nichols" and "was never present at the second scene," where video footage showed police beating Nichols at a nearby intersection.   At least 59 people were killed and 157 others were wounded after a suicide bomber detonated explosives inside a mosque in northwestern Pakistan on Monday, January 30.   The blast occurred at a mosque near police offices in Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, not far from the country's border with Afghanistan.   More than 150 people were reportedly were praying when the suicide bomber struck causing the roof to collapse from the impact.     The Pakistan Taliban, known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP, have claimed responsibility for the attack. A powerful Canadian cardinal, Marc Ouellet, who was twice accused of sexual assault, will retire on April 12, the Vatican’s news service announced Monday, Jan. 30. Age was given as the reason for his retirement and the Vatican did not mention the allegations against Quebec Cardinal Marc Ouellet.   The news service said that Pope Francis had accepted Ouellet’s resignation "upon reaching the age limit" for cardinals, which is 75. Cindy Williams, made famous for her portrayal of Shirley in the hugely popular "Laverne & Shirley" has died at the age of 75. Her family released a statement Monday, Jan. 30 to announce her death. The statement reads: "The passing of our kind, hilarious mother, Cindy Williams, has brought us insurmountable sadness that could never truly be expressed. "Knowing and loving her has been our joy and privilege. She was one of a kind, beautiful, generous and possessed a brilliant sense of humor and a glittering spirit that everyone loved."   Williams played alongside Penny Marshall on the popular sitcom for its 8 seasons from 1976 to 1983. Members of a syndicate of currency racketeers hoarding and trading the redesigned Naira notes in Abuja, have been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.   EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, said the operations were carried out in Zone 4 and Dei Dei axis of the Federal Capital Territory between Saturday, January 28, and Monday, January 30.  The operation followed intelligence on activities of unscrupulous currency speculators who were exploiting citizens by offering them the new naira notes for foreign currencies at below the going rate.   This is also coming after the Department of State Security Service announced that its operatives arrested some currency traders who have turned the sale of newly redesigned notes into brisk business.
