Legendary British guitarist Jeff Beck has died aged 78 after contracting bacterial meningitis. The rock star, who just weeks ago finished touring with Johnny Depp, passed away ‘peacefully’ on Tuesday, his agent revealed on Wednesday night. His family shared the heartbreaking news on his Twitter page along with a picture of the star on stage with his trademark shades and guitar. It comes just weeks after the former Yardbirds star finished a transatlantic tour with Depp as they promoted their debut album ’18’. The album is nominated for three Brit Awards in the UK. Beck is survived by his sixth wife, Sandra.  

England's football association will investigate reports of spot-fixing surrounding the booking of Oxford United defender Ciaron Brown during the League One side's 3-0 defeat by Arsenal in the FA Cup on Monday January 10. The Daily Mail reported that "the FA have a dossier of evidence regarding supposed corruption, including alleged phone messages before kick off at the Kassam Stadium which claim that Brown would be booked in a betting scam that allegedly cost one bookmaker more than £1,600." The FA have received evidence of an alleged betting scam, including WhatsApp messages from before kick-off which claimed that Brown would definitely be booked during the third-round tie on Monday. US President, Joe Biden’s legal team  found another batch of classified government records following the initial discovery of classified documents at his former office in Washington this past fall, NBC news says in a new report. Classified records are supposed to be stored in secure locations. And under the Presidential Records Act, White House records are supposed to go to the National Archives when an administration ends. Searches for additional documents took place after Biden’s lawyers found the initial classified documents in early November, that effort led to the discovery of additional documents of interest to federal officials reviewing the matter. The discovery of the classified documents in Biden's former office in November set off alarm bells inside the White House, where only a small circle of advisers and lawyers were aware of the matter.   Elon Musk has broken the world record for amassing the largest losses to his personal fortune in history, wiping £135billion off his wealth between November 2021 and December 2022, according to Guinness World Records. The bad news comes after the share value in Musk’s electric car firm Tesla crashed by around 65 percent after he bought Twitter last year, a move that spooked investors.   The losses surpass the previous record of £47billion by Japanese tech investor Masayoshi Son in 2000.   In December, Bernard Arnault overtook Musk as the world’s richest person. The figures were based on those available from publisher Forbes.   Guinness said Musk’s true losses could be higher than the figure given.   Music producer and rapper, Dr Dre is reportedly about to complete a deal to sell the rights to some of his royalties and master recordings for over $200 Million. Billboard reported that the music mogul is close to selling off some of his music assets in two separate deals; one with Shamrock Holdings, and another with Universal Music Group. In the Shamrock deal, Dre might sell his artist royalties from two of his solo albums, his share of N.W.A artist royalties, plus his producer royalties and the writer's share of the music where he doesn't own publishing rights. In the Universal deal, it is speculated that Dre will sell the master recording of his first solo album, "The Chronic," plus his share of some Kendrick Lamar music.   Billboard noted that these transactions as mostly "passive income streams" that generate about $10 million annually, and he's not selling his ownership stake in his record label, Aftermath.   ...

Manchester United have reportedly agreed to make a direct payment of £2.5m to Besiktas to take Wout Weghorst on loan until the end of the season. The 30-year-old had been on loan at the Turkish club but has decided to move to Old Trafford until the end of the season. A deal was reached between the two clubs earlier this week, but there was uncertainty as to whether the payment would be made to through Weghorst's parent club, Burnley.  It has now been revealed that United will pay the compensation fee straight to Besiktas as they look to complete the transfer, according to The Athletic. United are now facing a race to get Weghorst registered in time to be available for their derby clash with Manchester City on Saturday. The 6ft 6in striker has nine goals in 18 games for Besiktas this season and scored what proved to be the winner in Saturday's 2-1 Super Lig victory over Kasimpasa. An ex-playboy model accused of murdering a California psychiatrist and stuffing his body in the trunk of a car after he stopped paying her rent has been sentenced to 10 to 25 years in prison.   According to Las Vegas-based reporter present during the proceedings, 29-year-old Kelsey Turner, who has posed for both Playboy and Maxim, wept as the sentence was read.       Her pinup's conviction comes two months after she owned up to the murder of 71-year-old Dr. Thomas Burchard, a California psychiatrist she had been dating before his body was found in her car in March 2019.     Turner and then-boyfriend Jon Kennison were arrested following the shocking discovery, with the former eventually entering an Alford plea in November.   An Alford plea refers to a guilty plea in which a defendant maintains their innocence but admits the prosecution's evidence would likely result i...

Carole Cook, the actress who used a career boost from Lucille Ball to build a career that included three turns on Broadway and roles in  Sixteen Candles  and  The Incredible Mr. Limpet , is dead.  Cook died at the age of 98, days before her 99th birthday. Her death was confirmed by her husband Tom Troupe, 94, who revealed that she died of heart failure in Beverly Hills.      The legendary entertainer’s career spanned decades. Known as Lucille Ball’s protégé, the Texas native moved to California at her mentor’s behest, accprding to Variety.   The “I Love Lucy” star even convinced the budding comedienne to change her name from Mildred to Carole.   After making a cameo in a 1959 episode of Ball’s “Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse,” Cook appeared in 18 episodes of “The Lucy Show” from 1963 to 1968, followed by five episodes of “Here’s Lucy” from 1969 to 1974.     Cook’s résumé also included ep...

Seth Rogen has expressed gratitude over “dodging” Tom Cruise’s alleged attempt to recruit him to join Scientology. Rogen made the claim in a 2021 SiriusXM interview with Howard Stern that resurfaced on Wednesday, January 11. Tatjana Patitz, a German-born supermodel and one of the foremost catwalkers of the ’90s, has died at the age of 56 following a battle with metastatic breast cancer.   A representative for Patitz confirmed the sad news and cause of death to several outlets including Women’s Wear Daily and Vogue.  “Tatjana was always the European symbol of chic, like Romy Schneider-meets-Monica Vitti,” the fashion bible’s editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, wrote in a Vogue-published obituary.   “She was far less visible than her peers — more mysterious, more grown-up, more unattainable — and that had its own appeal.”   During her career, Patitz hit the runway for many top fashion brands, including Chanel, Vivienne Westwood, Alaïa and Helmut Lang.
