  A 6-year-old boy is in police custody after he shot a teacher at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News, Virginia, Friday afternoon, Jan. 6. Police Chief Steve Drew said in a news conference, "The individual is a 6-year-old student. He is right now in police custody.   "We have been in contact with our commonwealth attorney and some other entities to help us best get services to this young man." Drew said the female teacher – who is in her 30s – was shot inside a classroom and added that "this was not an accidental shooting." The police chief said there was an altercation between the teacher and the student, who had the firearm, and that a   single round was fired.     Drew, who had earlier said the teacher was in critical condition, said Friday evening January 6, her injuries were considered life-threatening but that there was "some improvement in the last update that we got." Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott have reportedly separated. A source close to the TV personality, 25, and the rapper, 31, informed Us Weekly that "Kylie and Travis are off again". The source added that they remain good co-parents and "were supposed to spend the holidays together."  However, Kylie whisked herself away to Aspen for the New Year to join her sister, Kendall Jenner, and a few close friends, such as Hailey Bieber and her husband Justin Bieber. Kylie had also taken her daughter Stormi on the vacation to Aspen to ring in 2023. Kylie shares two children with Scott, their daughter, Stormi, 4, and nearly one-year-old son who was born last year in February 2022.   Chelsea football club of England have officially confirmed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos, hours after announcing the signing of David Datro Fofana on Saturday,  January 7.   The 18-year-old joins the Blues for £18million from Brazilian club Vasco da Gama  Santos becomes the third January transfer window signing for Graham Potter's side after completing deals for Fofana and Benoit Badiashile.     Santos is seen as a future replacement for N'Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic.  Despite being just 18, Santos has been capped at U20 level by Brazil and is regarded as one of his country's most promising midfielders.   On signing for Chelsea, Santos said:  ‘It’s a very big opportunity for me. This is a big club playing in big competitions like the Premier League so I am very excited.  'The players here are so good and I am very happy to be here.’

Republican Congressman Kevin McCarthy has emerged as the elected Speaker of the United States’ House of Representatives. McCarthy emerged in the early hours of Saturday after 15 rounds of voting overcoming the opposition of right-wing rebels who had upset his bid to lead the chamber for several days. The Californian veteran politician eventually secured the House’s gavel today after gathering 216 of the 428 votes cast late on Friday, Reuters said. Hakeem Jeffries, who succeeded Nancy Pelosi as The Democrats’ leader, got 212 votes. “My father always told me, it’s now how you start, it’s how you finish,” McCarthy said in his first speech “Our system is built on checks and balances. It’s time for us to be a check and provide some balance to the president’s policies,” he added. Earl Boen, best known for his reoccurring role in the 'Terminator' franchise, has died aged 81. A family member tells TMZ the veteran actor passed away Thursday, Jan. 5 in Hawaii. Earl is best remembered for his role as Dr. Peter Silberman the 'Terminator' series.     He also starred in other films in the '80s such as "Battle Beyond the Stars," "The Man with Two Brains" and "Alien Nation."   He also appeared in "Naked Gun 33?: The Final Insult" in 1994, and "Nutty Professor II: The Klumps" in 2000.     Earl is survived by his wife, Cathy. His first wife, Carole, passed away in 2001. He was 81.

The Taliban government has vowed that the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, will one day appear before the International Court for killing 25 Afghan soldiers. In his memoir, Spare, Prince Harry admitted to killing Afghan fighters during the war when he was an Apache helicopter pilot. He detailed how he flew on six missions during his second tour in Afghanistan and killed 25 Taliban in 2012. Reacting to the revelation on Friday in a statement by the Taliban’s police spokesman, Khalid Zadran said Afghans will never forget the killing of their innocent countrymen as Harry will always be remembered in Helmand. Zadran stated that perpetrators of such crimes would one day face the international court and criminals like Harry who proudly confess their crimes will be brought in front of the international community, The Telegraph reported. The United States has announced a new military assistance to Ukraine to aid in its conflict against Russia.   Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday, January 6 announced a new $2.85 billion drawdown in military assistance to Ukraine, which will include “Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, artillery systems, armored personnel carriers, surface-to-air missiles, ammunition, and other items to support Ukraine as it bravely defends its people, its sovereignty, and its territorial integrity.”  The top US diplomat said the administration would work with Congress “to provide an additional $907 million of Foreign Military Financing under the Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2022.” “Funds will support Ukraine and countries impacted by Russia’s war in Ukraine,” Blinken said in a statement. A woman in Wisconsin poisoned her husband with animal euthanasia drugs, according to prosecutors. Amanda Chapin is awaiting trial for attempted first-degree intentional homicide of her husband, Gary Chapin. Amanda, 50, and Gary, 70, got married in March, 2022. Shortly afterwards, she allegedly forged his signature on a power-of-attorney document, then tried to amend his house deed to give her ownership of the property upon his death.   According to his children, Gary had already told his son through text message he would have power-of-attorney if he was hospitalized. Prosecutors allege Amanda poisoned her husband’s coffee with animal euthanasia drugs she took from his veterinary practice.   Gary began having vertigo symptoms in July.   According to the criminal complaint against her, Amanda put the poison in his morning coffee.   After the first incident in July, she told him it sounded like he was having stroke symptoms.   She also told him hi...
