  Nigeria’s Super Eagles football team have dropped two places from 40th to 42nd in the latest FIFA Coca-Cola world ranking. The latest ranking was published on FIFA’s website on Thursday, 30 November, 2023.  The drop in ranking comes after Nigeria played a 1-1 draw against Lesotho and Zimbabwe in their two opening fixtures in Group C 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. After the opening two games, the three-time Africans champions are third behind leaders Rwanda and second placed South Africa.

Shane MacGowan, the lead singer and songwriter of trailblazing Celtic punk band the Pogues and one of the all-time great bandleaders, has died aged 65 following a long period of ill health.     The Irish singer was diagnosed with viral encephalitis, a life-threatening condition that leads to brain swelling, and had been in and out of hospital for months. A family has been left fuming after a 90-year-old grandmother was declared dead by doctors and was placed in the hospital morgue only for a shocked crematorium worker to discover she was still alive .   Norma Silveira da Silva, 90, was pronounced dead on Saturday, November 25, at about 11.40pm local time at Sao Jose Regional Hospital in Brazil.   But the employee who was about to send her body away discovered she was breathing and her body was still warm hours after her supposed death.   After he noticed Norma was still alive, he returned her to a hospital bed.      But despite being taken back to the ward, Norma passed away just over a day later, in the early hours of November 27. She was cremated that day.   As a result of the gaffe, Norma was issued with two death certificates. A 70-year-old Ugandan woman has given birth to twins after becoming pregnant through IVF treatment.      Safina Namukwaya became the oldest woman to give birth in Africa after she delivered a baby girl and boy on Wednesday afternoon, November 29, the Women's Hospital International and Fertility Centre in the Ugandan capital of Kampala said.  Medics at the hospital said the mother and her two babies are doing well after they were delivered via a caesarean.      'This story isn't just about medical success; it's about the strength and resilience of the human spirit,' the hospital said.     Ms Namukwaya told the NTV channel that this was her second delivery in three years, after she gave birth to a girl called Sarah in 2020.   The mother said she had suffered some complications and difficulties during her pregnancy, including the father of her children leaving her.      'Men don't like to hear tha...

Former South Africa footballer, Papi Khomane, has tragically died in a car crash alongside his mother and uncle, his old club Orlando Pirates have revealed. A two-year-old boy is now fighting for his life in hospital after he was brutally beaten by his drunk mother's friend who was babysitting.   Giovanni Reichert has undergone multiple operations over the past several months after his mother asked her friend McKinley Sloan Hernandez, 25, to watch over him. ‘I received a text message from the suspect saying I needed to rush to St Anthony’s Hospital because my son had gone lifeless after a bath,’ Stefanie Reichert told KDVR. ‘Once I saw him and all the 50 doctors standing around him, I had to leave the room because it was the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life.’   Giovanni was airlifted to a children’s hospital after ‘being harmed by the hands of a trusted caregiver’, states a GoFundMe page set up for him.   Reichert said that Hernandez would often watch her son and other kids at an unlicensed childcare facility at her home in Lakewood, Colorado. A mum has shared her ‘upset, anger and disbelief’ after her two young children died while using scuba tanks in a friend’s pool. Suzie Dudas’s two children, Zale, 9, and Saxon, 7, were were in a family friend’s swimming pool when they used scuba tanks unknowingly filled with helium instead of oxygen.   They lost consciousness in the water and sank to the bottom. Despite the efforts of Suzie’s ex-husband and medical staff after rushing them to hospital, Zale and Saxon both died four days later on April 27, 2021. Last May, police announced they wouldn’t be filing charges in what it called the ‘heartbreaking tragedy’ – but Suzie is campaigning for the investigation to be reopened.  She says she can’t understand why the tanks weren’t checked and how both of her children died when the tank only had one breathing tube. Pope Francis has called for the continuation of the truce in the Gaza Strip for the release of all hostages and for humanitarian aid access into the territory. Nollywood actor, Sylvester Madu, escaped death when gunmen stormed the location he was in and killed 4 people.   Madu moved to Bamenda, Cameroon, on November 23, 2023, to work on a film project.   On Saturday, Nov. 25, some unidentified gunmen entered the drinking spot where Madu was hanging out with a few others around 10 pm. Tiffany Haddish has vowed to 'get help' after her second DUI arrest, in less than two years.   Speaking about the latest incident, the stand-up comedian, 43, told Entertainment Tonight that 'this will never happen again.'  'I'm going to get some help so I can learn balance and boundaries,' she pledged.  The Girls Trip star revealed that she has been 'in good spirits' after her brush with the law, and according to the outlet, 'complimented the Beverly Hills Police Department for their professionalism and how they handled the situation.' A Los Angeles apartment belonging to Chuck Lorre, the American TV producer behind "Two and a Half Men," “The Big Bang Theory,” and many other successful TV, has been hit by burglars.    Cops told TMZ that they responded to Chuck's home after his security alarm went off and upon arrival, they found broken glass, signaling the would-be burglar's attempts to enter the abode through a window or glass door.   Police scoped out the home and surrounding area and while they found no suspects, they found plenty of evidence of an attempted burglary, including a tampered fuse box.    Chuck wasn't home at the time and it is believed the sound of the alarm scared off the thieves. It was also gathered that a week and a half later, there was another alarm call to the same home. The house was also almost burgled in September.    LAPD took an attempted burglary report and is investigating and so far, no arrests have been made.

Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of murdering George Floyd was on Friday, November 24, stabbed in a federal prison in Arizona and seriously injured.  The attack happened at the Federal Correctional Institution, Tucson, a medium-security prison that has been plagued by security lapses and staffing shortages. The person was not authorized to publicly discuss details of the attack and spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity. The Bureau of Prisons confirmed that an incarcerated person was assaulted at FCI Tucson at around 12:30 p.m. local time Friday. In a statement, the agency said responding employees contained the incident and performed “life-saving measures” before the inmate, who it did not name, was taken to a hospital for further treatment and evaluation.    No employees were injured and the FBI was notified, the Bureau of Prisons said. Australian basketball star Josh Giddey is being investigated by the NBA following an allegation of the Boomers ace having an improper relationship with an under-aged girl. In a since-deleted post, an anonymous social media user said a girl who is seen with Giddey in videos and photographs was a high school junior at the time.   A mom-of-two has died from drinking too much water and her husband lays all the blame on the health facility. Michelle Whitehead, a 45 year old woman, from England, was taken to Millbrook Mental Health Unit in Nottinghamshire on May 5, 2021, after suffering a mental breakdown, the BBC reported. . She died two days later after drinking water excessively and going into a coma, something the staff discovered too late, he claimed.   “Had they acted earlier Michelle would have been taken to ICU and put on a drip. That would have saved her life,” Michael Whitehead, Michelle’s husband of 22 years, claimed. The Nollywood actress shared the news on Instagram and revealed that his name is Giovanni Munachimso.       Nuella was married to movie producer Tchidi Chikere in 2014 and their union produced a daughter. The World Health Organization has asked China for more data on a respiratory illness spreading in the north of the country, urging people to take steps to reduce the risk of infection.   Northern China has reported an increase in “influenza-like illness” since mid-October when compared with the same period in the previous three years, the WHO said.   “WHO has made an official request to China for detailed information on an increase in respiratory illnesses and reported clusters of pneumonia in children,” the UN health body said in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 22). China’s National Health Commission told reporters last week that the respiratory illness spike was due to the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions and the circulation of known pathogens, namely influenza and common bacterial infections that affect children, including mycoplasma pneumonia. New York Mayor, Eric Adams has been accused of sexual assault in a legal action filed Wednesday night, November 22 in a New York court, it has been revealed.   The plaintiff in the case, a woman whose name is being withheld due to the nature of the complaint, filed a summons Wednesday night in the state Supreme Court in Manhattan, under the Adult Survivors Act that names the Mayor as a defendant.  The filing also names the Transit Bureau of the New York Police Department and the Guardian Association of the NYPD as defendants. “Plaintiff was sexually assaulted by Defendant Eric Adams in New York, New York in 1993 while they both worked for the City of New York,” the summons alleges.
