Chelsea's new £88million signing, Mykhailo Mudryk has apologised for using a racial slur in a viral video. The 22-year-old footballer was spotted using the N-word in a TikTok footage which has been viewed nearly 214,000 times. Though sources close to the Ukrainian winger insist he was just trying to recite lyrics from US rapper Lil Baby’s 2017 hit Freestyle, fans and campaigners blasted the Ukrainian winger, 22, for using the language in the TikTok clip “irrespective of context”.   Mudryk has now issued a grovelling apology for the video. His representative told The Sun:   “Mykhailo is deeply sorry for any offence caused by the video posted on his TikTok account last July. “Whilst his intention was solely to recite lyrics of a song, Mykhailo regrets his decision and wholeheartedly accepts it was not appropriate. "The video has since been removed.”

  Actor Alec Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed will be charged on Tuesday, January 31 with involuntary manslaughter for the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Western "Rust" in 2021, a New Mexico prosecutor said. The charges come after 15 months of speculation whether Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies would find evidence Baldwin showed criminal disregard for safety when a revolver gun he was rehearsing with fired a live round that killed Hutchins.   The actor has denied responsibility for the shooting, saying he cocked the revolver but never pulled the trigger and it was the job of Gutierrez-Reed and other weapons professionals to ensure it was unloaded. A female teacher could be looking at a lengthy sentence after she was accused of having an affair with one of her students. Cali Heikes, 25, was arrested after allegations emerged that she picked up a 17-year-old student from his home three times a week and took him to a cemetery where the pair would have sex, according to authorities in Nebraska, US. Wayne County Sheriff Jason Dwinell's office confirmed the arrest after a deputy received a call on January 20 from a Department of Health and Human Services hotline claiming a teacher was thought to be in a sexual relationship with a student, court documents revealed. The same deputy claimed a traffic stop had been carried out just over a week earlier on January 12 when he saw two vehicles leaving the area around the Winside Cemetery. US President, Joe Biden has said he wouldn't send American fighter jets to Ukraine, even as the United States ramps up military assistance in the form of artillery and tanks.  Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has sought fighter jets to help sustain his war effort against Russia. Biden has consistently said the planes aren't on the table, even as he has given aid in other areas.   F-16 jets will take the war to a whole different level as Ukraine can use fighter jets to launch invasive attacks in all areas of Russia barring Russian air defenses. A woman who was clinically dead for over fourteen minutes, has shared her afterlife experience.  Dr Lynda Cramer who was on the way to her bathroom before she 'died' in the early hours of the morning on May 6, 2001, is claiming that she went to heaven during the time paramedics rushed to save her. Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has said that banks in the country will continue to accept the old Naira notes after the stipulated deadline.  Speaking during an interactive session with the house of representatives ad hoc committee on the currency redesign and Naira swap policy on Tuesday, January 31, Emefiele stated that the CBN will also accept the old naira from banks after the February 10 deadline. A sixth Memphis police officer has been placed on administrative leave in the aftermath of the violent arrest that led to Tyre Nichols' death. The officer, Preston Hemphill, was relieved of duty amid an ongoing internal investigation at the Memphis Police Department, a spokesperson confirmed on Monday.   The details of Hemphill's involvement in Nichols' arrest were not disclosed by Memphis Police. Hemphill was relieved of duty at the beginning of the police department's investigation, at the same time as the five who were charged.   Lee Gerald, an attorney representing Hemphill, told CBS News that his client "was the third officer at the initial [traffic] stop of Mr. Nichols" and "was never present at the second scene," where video footage showed police beating Nichols at a nearby intersection.   At least 59 people were killed and 157 others were wounded after a suicide bomber detonated explosives inside a mosque in northwestern Pakistan on Monday, January 30.   The blast occurred at a mosque near police offices in Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, not far from the country's border with Afghanistan.   More than 150 people were reportedly were praying when the suicide bomber struck causing the roof to collapse from the impact.     The Pakistan Taliban, known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP, have claimed responsibility for the attack. A powerful Canadian cardinal, Marc Ouellet, who was twice accused of sexual assault, will retire on April 12, the Vatican’s news service announced Monday, Jan. 30. Age was given as the reason for his retirement and the Vatican did not mention the allegations against Quebec Cardinal Marc Ouellet.   The news service said that Pope Francis had accepted Ouellet’s resignation "upon reaching the age limit" for cardinals, which is 75. Members of a syndicate of currency racketeers hoarding and trading the redesigned Naira notes in Abuja, have been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.   EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, said the operations were carried out in Zone 4 and Dei Dei axis of the Federal Capital Territory between Saturday, January 28, and Monday, January 30.  The operation followed intelligence on activities of unscrupulous currency speculators who were exploiting citizens by offering them the new naira notes for foreign currencies at below the going rate.   This is also coming after the Department of State Security Service announced that its operatives arrested some currency traders who have turned the sale of newly redesigned notes into brisk business.

Chelsea have reportedly made an £105million bid for Benfica star Enzo Fernandez in a deal that would make the Argentine midfielder Britain's most expensive footballer. The Blues are closing in on the potential signing after meeting Fernandez's buy-out clause. There are still negotiations ongoing in regard to the payment structure of Chelsea's bid but the west London club are now confident of getting a deal done, according to The Telegraph. A suicide bomber carried out an attack Monday, Jan. 30, inside a mosque in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar, killing at least 20 people and wounding as many as 96 worshipers, officials said. The bomber detonated his suicide vest as about 150 worshipers were praying inside. The impact of the explosion collapsed the roof of the mosque, which caved in and injured many, according to Zafar Khan, a local police officer.   No one immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing, said Saddique Khan, a senior police official in Peshawar who gave the latest casualty tolls, but the Pakistani Taliban have been blamed in similar suicide attacks in the past. A survivor, 38-year-old police officer Meena Gul, said he was inside the mosque when the bomb went off. He said he doesn’t know how he survived unhurt.   Two gunmen opened fire on a group of people celebrating a birthday at the weekend in a township in South Africa, killing eight and wounding three others. The mass shooting was carried out by two attackers and occurred between 5:15 and 5:30 p.m. (1515 and 1530 GMT) on Sunday at a house in Kwazakele, Gqeberha, the South African Police Service (SAPS) said in a statement.   The birthday celebrant was among those gunned down in the mass shooting.    The gunmen fled after the attack, and no arrests have been made, the police said.   Investigations into the circumstances and possible motives for the attack were ongoing. Police have not named the victims, but confirmed that the owner of the house was among them.   The gunmen 'randomly shot at guests,' police said, adding 'eight people died while three others are still fighting for their lives in hospital. The Russian government has accused former British prime minister Boris Johnson of lying when he said President Vladimir Putin had threatened him with a missile strike during a phone call in the run-up to the invasion of Ukraine. This is coming after Johnson disclosed to the BBC for a documentary, that the Russian leader had threatened him with a missile strike that would 'only take a minute'.   'He threatened me at one point, and he said, ''Boris, I don't want to hurt you but, with a missile, it would only take a minute'' or something like that,' Johnson said.   Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov today hit back, telling reporters that Johnson had fabricated the allegations.   'What Mr. Johnson said is not true. Authorities in South Africa have arrested a retired teacher accused of preying on boys at two leading public schools in Scotland.   The 83-year-old, who was referred to as 'Edgar' by former SNP leader Ian Blackford but whose real name cannot be disclosed for legal reasons, will be brought before the city's Wynberg Magistrates Court later.  The 83-year-old, dubbed 'Jimmy Savile Mark II' is accused of crimes against boys at Edinburgh Academy and Fettes College in the 1970s. He denies the allegations.   BBC presenter Nicky Campbell, who attended the Academy in the 1970s, has led calls for him to be brought back to the UK to stand trial, with a court hearing due to take place later this year.   Edgar denies having molested pupils while teaching in Scotland, and also denied accusations of similar behaviour after moving to teach in a prestigious school in Cape Town.    He is currently subject to an order at the Scottis...

Operatives of the Western Security Network Agency, Amotekun Osun Corps, have arrested a serial child rapist, Yisa Aderibigbe. Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi, the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, in a statement at the weekend said the suspect was arrested on Thursday January 26, following a tip-off by residents after allegedly raping two minors in Osogbo, the state capital.   It was gathered that Yisa lured the two minors who were aged 5 and 7 years old to an uncompleted building in the Ayepe area of Osogbo and raped them.   Adewinmbi also stated that investigation revealed that the suspect is a notorious and serial rapist.   "Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime. I want to thank the residents of the area, who informed us about the incident. I want to appreciate them for their support,” he said in the statement.   He said the suspect had been transferred to the police for subsequent interrogation and prosecution. ...

Five persons have died and seven others injured when a mining pit collapsed on them in Rukku community in Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.  The incident occurred on Saturday, January 28, 2023, when some local miners went to the mining site in the community to mine solid minerals.   It was gathered that the local miners were extracting minerals deposited some meters beneath the earth’s surface when the pit suddenly collapsed on them, thereby forcing other miners at the site to abandon their work for rescue.   According to the Nigerian Tribune, five miners who died were deep inside the pit and therefore could not be rescued, while seven others at the surface were rescued alive but with various degrees of injuries.   A local miner who was part of the rescue team revealed that the incident happened at about 7:00 p.m as those on the site were working late into the night, adding that all efforts to rescue those trapped in ...

  Annie Wersching, best known for playing FBI agent Renee Walker in the TV series 24, has died at the age of 45. Wersching died on Sunday morning, Jan. 29, in Los Angeles following a battle with cancer, her publicist told the Associated Press.   Neil Druckmann, who created the video game The Last of Us on which Wersching provided the voice for Tess, wrote on Twitter: "We just lost a beautiful artist and human being. My heart is shattered. Lisa Loring, the actress who played the original Wednesday Addams character on the original "Addams Family" TV show, has died at the age of 64.   Loring was taken off life support on Saturday, Jan. 28, after suffering a "massive stroke," her friend Laurie Jacobson said in a post on Facebook announcing the death.   "It is with great sadness that I report the death of our friend, Lisa Loring," Jacobson wrote.   "4 Days ago she suffered a massive stroke brought on by smoking and high blood pressure. She had been on life support for 3 days."   Loring’s family made the decision to remove the life support on Saturday and she passed overnight.   Jacobson added: "She is embedded in the tapestry that is pop culture and in our hearts always as Wednesday Addams."   Loring was just 6 years old when she played Wednesday from 1964-1966.     She also appeared in the sitcom "The Pruitts of Southampton" and the epic CBS soap o...

Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr coach has claimed the forward will 'go back to Europe' before retiring from football.  The superstar player only secured a move to the Saudi Arabian side last month in a big money deal.   Now his own coach Rudi Garcia has suggested that the five-time Ballon d'or winner will have one final stint in Europe before hanging up his boots.   According to SPORT, Al-Nassr head coach Garcia said: 'Cristiano Ronaldo is a positive addition as he helps disperse defenders.   The 58-year-old manager added: 'He's [Ronaldo] one of the best players in the world. Singer, Paul Okoye aka Rudeboy has tackled the Nigerian Senate for calling for the extension of the deadline of the swapping of the redesigned Naira notes.   Worried by the scarcity of the newly redesigned notes to common Nigerians, the Senate recently called for the extention of the deadline for the swapping of the Naira notes to June 2023.  In a post shared on his Instagram page this morning, Paul stated that the lawmakers are now speaking up because this particular policy affects them and the election. He went on to ask where the lawmakers were when palliatives were hidden during the pandemic. He added that God is "helping Nigerians avoid vote buying."  

Police have arrested a 34-year-old Nigerian national, Chiduziem Ukaegbu, for illegal stay in Goa, India.  Anjuna police picked up the accused from his residence at Siolim on Saturday, January 28, 2023.  According to  Mapusa SDPO, Jivba Dalvi,  police received a tip off that the foreign national was staying in Siolim  "During investigation we found the Nigerian was staying without any passport and valid visa," Dalvi stated.    An FIR under section 7 & 14 of the Foreigners Act was registered and the accused has been taken into custody.   Further investigation is in progress with Anjuna Pi, Prashal Dessai
