Billionaire rapper, Kanye West has also extended his condolences as tributes continue to pour in from across the world following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  Queen Elizabeth, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, and the nation’s figurehead for seven decades, died at her home in Scotland aged 96, on Thursday, September 8.   The father of four took to his Instagram page on Friday, September 9, to  share two images of Queen Elizabeth and wrote: "Life is precious."    He also added that he was "releasing all grudges today and leaning into the light."  

North Korea has passed a law declaring itself a nuclear weapons state, according to state news agency KCNA.   The hermit country's leader Kim Jong-un called the decision "irreversible" and ruled out the possibility of any talks on denuclearisation, KCNA said.  The new decree also enshrines the country's right to use a pre-emptive nuclear strike to protect itself from external threats. The move comes despite crippling economic sanctions from the UN led by the US but reports have emanated alleging China and Russia has helped North Korea evade UN  sanctions.  Despite sanctions, Pyongyang has amassed funds to conduct six nuclear tests between 2006 and 2017.  North Korea has continued to advance its military capability threatening its neighbours and potentially even bringing the US mainland within striking range.   Kim carried long-range launches and nuclear tests in 2019 following two inconclusive summits with then US president Donald Trump.   ...

Governing councils of universities in the country have been asked by the federal government to approach philanthropic organisations and individuals for additional funding of projects. The advice was given by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, in Abuja yesterday September 8, during the inauguration of the governing councils for the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta; Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike; Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University of Agriculture, Makurdi and the Federal University of Agriculture, Zuru.   Adamu who was represented by the  Minister of  State for Education, Goodluck Opiah, cited trying economic times and also expressed government’s desire to bring in more private sector participation in tertiary institutions.    He urged the councils to come up with ideas that would generate more revenue outside government allocations, and also provide the type of leadership that would stimulate...

Premier League officials are in talks with the UK Government to discuss calling off the weekend's football with the nation in mourning following the death of Her Majesty The Queen.   Top-flight clubs are expecting this weekend's fixtures to be postponed with an announcement expected today.   Almost all of Friday's sporting activities have already been called off on Thursday night as a mark of respect, including day two of England's Test match against South Africa, golf's BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, and all racing, the Queen's favourite sport.    Friday's EFL fixtures; Burnley v Norwich and Tranmere v Stockport have also been postponed.   The rest of the football games are likely to follow the lead set by the Premier League.    There are no fixtures scheduled for the date of the funeral on September 19 as that is the start of the international break.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has also extended his condolences to the people of  Britain following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  While the relations between Russia and Britain have been affected by the invasion of Ukraine, Putin still reached out to King Charles III in a telegram.   'The most important events in the recent history of the United Kingdom are inextricably linked with the name of Her Majesty,' the Russian tyrant wrote.   'For many decades, Elizabeth II rightfully enjoyed the love and respect of her subjects, as well as authority on the world stage.   'I wish you courage and perseverance in the face of this heavy, irreparable loss. Serge Aurier has joined Nottingham Forest to become their 22nd signing of the summer.   The Ivorian right-back will join Steve Cooper's side and provide competition with Welsh defender Neco Williams, who was also brought in this summer from fellow Premier League side Liverpool.  Aurier had been without a club since leaving Villarreal in July, where he spent 10 months as a free agent.    In a statement published on the club's website, Forest announced: 'Nottingham Forest is delighted to confirm the signing of Ivory Coast captain Serge Aurier, subject to Visa approval.'  Aurier played 110 games for Spurs in a four-year stay at the club, having arrived in 2017 from PSG, and scored eight goals and assisted 17 times.

  An Israeli social media star who is famously known for mocking his own obesity and posting about his fondness for eating, died at just 28 years of age.   Idan Ohayon, who has more than 140,000 followers on TikTok, died on Tuesday night, September 6, at Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon.   Ohayon's family said that his cause of death was a medical condition without expanding further.      The Israeli became famous on Tiktok for posting videos of himself eating food and mocking his obesity.    Ohayon's 140,000 TikTok followers paid tribute to the influencer, saying they were 'devastated' by his death.  'My heart is torn to pieces, such a young man. May his memory be blessed,' one fan wrote on Tiktok.   Ohayan's adequate following on TikTok, as well as his 52,000 followers on Instagram and thousands of subscribers on YouTube, made him a well-known influencer in Israel.   One fan wrote on Oha...

A 19-year-old man went on a killing spree and he live-streamed them on Facebook Live.   Police in the US issued an urgent warning to the public to avoid an "armed and dangerous" gunman overnight before officers arrested the suspect, named as Ezekiel Kelly, who is reported to have carried out multiple shootings on Wednesday night, September 7, in Memphis, Tennessee.   Warnings from police to people in the area simply read: "If you do not need to be out, please stay home!   "ALERT!! ARMED AND DANGEROUS"   A statement from Memphis Police Department on Twitter said they had received a number of calls on Wednesday evening, September 7, regarding a young black male suspect driving a blue or silver sedan.     Police did not say how many shootings there were or where they took place, but the gunman reportedly claimed responsibility for five in one of the videos.   At least two shootings were reported as of 7 p.m. local...

Prince Charles has ascended to the throne in the wake of Queen Elizabeth II's passing at 96.    The Queen's eldest son, 73, has been confirmed to be the new reigning British monarch immediately following his mother's death.   In accordance with British rule, the King's succession comes just moments after Buckingham Palace announced that his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died on Sept. 8 at the age of 96.   The royal family shared the sad news of her passing in a  statement, writing, "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon," the statement read. Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age of 96.   Buckingham Palace in a statement said : "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.
