Iranian media reported that women were once again denied entry to a football stadium to watch an international match, leaving hundreds of ticketed fans stranded. Iran won 2-0 against Lebanon in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday night at the Imam Reza stadium in Mashhad, in the northeastern city. "About 2,000 Iranian women who had purchased tickets for the Iran-Lebanon match were present on the Imam Reza stadium's perimeter but were unable to enter the stadium," according to the ISNA news agency.   "A total of 12,500 tickets were sold for this match, with 2,000 reserved for women," it added. Mashhad Governor Mohsen Davari told IRIB state television: "I apologise for the fact that many people were unable to enter the stadium... A 36-year-old man has been arrested and arraigned in a Kisumu court in Kenya, for attempting to rape his mother.  The incident occurred at Karao village, Kombewa division Seme Sub-county within Kisumu county. Caleb Okuom who is the area chief said he got the information through one of the village managers, Martin Omware. Okuom said Omware told him the suspect identified as Dan Otieno who arrived home drunk, had attacked his mother and tried raping her.    He said;    “The accused arrived home while drunk then he started assaulting his mother and attacking her with an intention of raping her”   The area chief added that immediately he was informed about this, he acted swiftly with the help of village elders, arrested Otieno and handed him over to Kombewa police station. Area OCPD Hellen Rotich told K24TV that the suspect was detained at Kombewa police station and arraigned in court on Wednesday March 30.

Super Eagles head coach, Austin Eguavoen has resigned following the failure of Nigeria to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after a 1-1 draw with Ghana at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja. The Super Eagles were unable to defeat the Black Stars in Kumasi, with the match ending 0-0. In the reverse leg, both nations played 1 - 1 with Ghana qualifying on an away goal.  According to Brila FM, Eguavoen has sent an official resignation letter to the NFF. The Sports radio station said Eguavoen will now return to his role as Technical Director of all national teams. However, the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF is yet to release an official statement. The NFF had handed a two-year contract to Eguavoen two days before the first leg of the World Cup play-off against Ghana. It is now clear that the Super Eagles will soon have a new coach.
