Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu said he sees nothing wrong with his ‘daughter’, Jasmine, getting married to a man she met on a social media platform, TikTok. Ibu stated this in an interview with The Punch on Sunday. “She is not my biological daughter but I trained her. She calls me daddy and I call her daughter. I am okay with it (her getting married). I have been praying for them and I will keep on doing that.   “Man and woman got to know each other one day. It is a gradual process. However, I don’t want to see tears.” Mr Ibu, in the interview, also said he doesn’t want any of his children to bear a resemblance to him. He said, “God forbid that my children look like me. There must be something wrong with any of my children who decides to resemble me.”  

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested a 38-year-old nursing mother for drug dealing three weeks after she was granted bail for same offence in Kwara state.  Director, Media & Advocacy of the agency, Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sunday February 20, said the suspect, Mrs. Rashidat Adebayo, was granted administrative bail following her arrest for dealing in illicit drugs. A 61-year-old man who was arraigned before Shanzu court in Kenya for attempting to defile an 11-year-old girl, has claimed that he carried out the act because the minor "ate" his money.  It was reported that the suspect identified as Iha Thoya, intentionally and unlawfully attempted to defile a child aged 11 years on February 3, at Dingurukani area, Bamburi location in Kisauni sub-county within Mombasa county.  Iha Thoya who is facing additional count of committing an indecent act with a child, told Shanzu Senior Principal Magistrate, Yusuf Shikanda that he spent so much money on the minor and that was the reason he wanted to defile her.   He said;    “ (I’ve spent money on this girl so I unsuccessfully tried to defile.”    Following his confession, the magistrate ordered that the man undergoes mental assessment to ascertain if he's fit to stand trial.   Shikanda said;    “The accused is behaving...

Queen Elizabeth II has tested positive for COVID-19 and is experiencing mild, cold-like symptoms. Buckingham Palace made the announcement on Sunday, Feb. 20, and stated that the 95-year-old British monarch will continue with light duties at Windsor Castle over the coming week. The palace said in a statement: "She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines." The Queen's diagnosis comes days after she completed her first in-person engagement since returning to Windsor. The queen has received three doses of coronavirus vaccine. Both her eldest son Prince Charles and daughter-in-law Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall have also recently contracted COVID-19. Charles has since returned to work.

Archaeologists in the United Arab Emirates have uncovered the country’s oldest known buildings, dating back at least 8,500 years. This is more than 500 years older than the previous record-breaking discoveries, according to Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism in a press release Thursday. Discovered during an archaeological program run by the department, the buildings are located on the island of Ghagha, west of the city of Abu Dhabi. The structures which have been unearthed are “simple round rooms,” which have stone walls that are still preserved up to a height of almost a meter (3.3 feet), the press release says.   The team said in the statement that the structures were “likely houses for a small community who may have lived on the island year-round.” They added that the discovery showed the existence of Neolithic settlements before long-distance maritime trade routes developed, suggesting that these were not in fact the impetus for settlements in the are...

Kanye West has objected to Kim Kardashian getting an order divorcing him and restoring her single status. He made his objections known to the judge in new legal documents.   West has filed an opposition to Kim's request, according to documents obtained by E! 'Kim's motion should be denied without prejudice so that Kim can refile it with the mandatory corrections and requested conditions set forth in the proposed judgment. The Kenya ambassador to Nigeria, Wilfred Machage, has died. A statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Machage collapsed at his home in Abuja and was rushed to a hospital in the Federal Capital Territory FCT where he was confirmed dead on Saturday, February 19.   The statement reads ''The Ministry of Foreign Affairs regrets to announce the sudden death of Hon Dr. Ambassador Wilfred Machage, Kenya High Commissioner to Nigeria and accredited to 12 other countries in Central and Western Africa which occurred today.  Ambassador Machage collapsed at home and was pronounced dead at hospital shortly thereafter at around 12.30pm this afternoon in Abuja, Nigeria. Unknown gunmen have killed Sule Mathew, a fresh graduate from the Bayero University, Kano with a first-class from the Faculty of Communication while on his way to Anambra state for the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps scheme. Sule was killed with other passengers at Ekwulobia, in Anambra State.    A coursemate of late Sule, Silas Manager, who spoke to PR Nigeria said late Mathew was billed to participate in the forthcoming orientation program of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) before his death.   “Mathew was among the first set of students to intern with PRNigeria Centre in Kano in 2019.
