MMA fighter, Bagdat Dyusembaev has been hospitalized after he was shot in the chest  in Russia According to Russian news outlet Tass, the Kazakhstani middleweight was involved in a 'conflict with a security guard' at a gym in Moscow.  The incident resulted in Dyusembaev being shot in the chest. A police statement to Tass read: "The day before, along Ordzhonikidze Street, house 10a, during a conflict with a security guard of a fitness club, MMA fighter Bagdat Dyusembaev received a gunshot wound in the chest. "The victim was hospitalized in the N. I. Pirogov City Clinical Hospital." The fighter's current condition has not been made public.  The alleged shooting of Dyusembaev came just hours before he was due to be back in the cage. Dyusembaev was due to throw down with Russian Mikhail Avakyan last night at Hardcore Fighting Championships 22 in Moscow.

A 102-year-old Nigerian woman, Nonye Josephine Ezeanyaeche, has declared her intentions to contest in the Presidential election in 2023.   Ezeanyaeche, who is also called ‘living legend’ or “Mama Africa’, hails from Aguata, Anambra state and is the founder of the ‘Voice for Senior Citizens of Nigeria’ group. She recently paid a courtesy visit to the management team of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, where she expressed readiness to contest for the number one position if the younger generations of the country are not ready. Caro Nwosu, president of the group quoted Ezeanyaeche was quoted by Sahara Reporters as saying   “If Nigerians are shying away from political participation, she says she is ready to contest.   An 8-year-old boy has died after falling 45 feet from a dismantled waterslide. Davi Lucas de Miranda got inside the slide at the diRoma Acqua Park in Goias, Brazil, on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 13, without realising it was undergoing maintenance. Insufficient signage and blockades meant the attraction which is made up of four waterslides that come out of the top of a replica of a volcano, appeared open to the public.     Three of the slides had reportedly been at least partially dismantled, meaning that sections of the long pipes had been removed, although this was not easily visible at the beginning of the ride, Daily Star reports. Fantastic Four actor, Loan Gruffudd has filed a petition for a domestic violence restraining order against his estranged wife, actress Alice Evans.   Gruffudd, 48, filed the form this week requesting Evans, 53, to stay 100 yards away from him and his girlfriend, actress Bianca Wallace, and not be allowed to contact either of them, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.   In his petition, Gruffudd said he had told Evans he was "unhappy" in their relationship in August 2020. The actor said Evans "repeatedly told me between August 2020 and our separation on January 1, 2021 that if I left her, she would make false public accusations about me, sell false stories about me to the press, and destroy me and my career."   Gruffudd and Evans met in the 2000 set of 102 Dalmatians and were married in 2007. Frank Pesce, a character actor who appeared in both “Beverly Hills Cop” movies, “Top Gun,” “Midnight Run” and “Miami Vice,” has died aged 75.   The actor’s girlfriend, Tammy Scher, told Deadline that Frank died on February 6, 2022, in Burbank due to dementia-related complications.   Born in 1946 in New York City, Pesce’s circle of friends included Sylvester Stallone, Tony Danza, and Robert Forster, among others.    Known for his big smile and colorful personality, Pesce first appeared on screen in 1976 as a guest star on “Police Story.” Throughout his career, he appeared on other series such as “Kojak,” “Knight Rider,” “Blue Thunder,” “The Greatest American Hero,” “Matlock,” “Who’s the Boss?” and “The Master.”   Pesce landed small roles in Stallone films “Rocky” and “Paradise Alley,” as well as Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer’s smash hits “Flashdance” and “Top Gun.”   In a statement to  Variety , Pesce’s girlfriend Tammy Scher sa...

  France and its European allies will withdraw their troops from Mali after nine years, President Emmanuel Macron has announced. French troops have been involved in the fight against Islamist militants in Mali since 2012 but in recent months the governing military junta has shown hostility towards the foreign troops. Speaking on Thursday, February 17, Macron said the decision to leave followed a breakdown in diplomatic relations, amid growing hostility from Mali's governing military junta.     Macron said the forces will be re-deployed across Africa's Sahel region.   "We cannot remain militarily engaged alongside de-facto authorities whose strategy and hidden aims we do not share", Mr Macron told a news conference in Paris on Thursday. He refuted claims that the withdrawal was an acceptance of failure and insisted that France remains committed to combating Islamist insurgencies in the region. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has said that the Lassa Fever outbreak has claimed 59 lives since the beginning of 2022 In a situation report on Wednessday, February 16, the NCDC said 358 confirmed cases of the disease have been recorded this year in 19 states and 65 local government areas of the country.  It was also revealed that in week six, the number of new confirmed cases increased from 58 in week five, 2022 to 77 cases. “These were reported from Ondo, Edo, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Taraba, Enugu, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger States, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). “Cumulatively from week one to week six, of 2022; 59 deaths have been reported with a case fatality rate(CFR) of 16.5 per cent which is lower than the CFR for the same period in 2021(22.9 per cent)”.

Leicester City coach,  Brendan Rodgers has said that Wilfred Ndidi is worth “much more” than £50million to the club. The 25-year-old Nigerian midfielder, who is contracted until 2024, has been linked with Aston Villa with reports they are ready to bid for him this summer with £50m to spend.  When that figure was put to Rodgers at a press conference on Wednesday, he said: “He’s worth much more than that.” Rodgers admitted that good players always attract interest but says the midfielder is happy at the club and sees no reason why he would not choose to stay.  “It’s both of those things – it’s how it works,” Rodgers said. “A player of that quality and mentality, of course you want to always keep, but when you have that player, he will always attract interest. “But he seems very settled here. Prosecutors have asked a judge to sentence former Brooklyn Center police officer Kimberly Potter to more than seven years in prison for killing, a 20-year-old Black man Daunte Wright. Potter was convicted in December of first-degree and second-degree manslaughter for fatally shooting Wright, 20, when she mistook her firearm for a Taser during a traffic stop on April 11, 2021.   Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for Friday February 18.   Potter pulled over Wright for an expired tag and an illegal air freshener. Potter then found that Wright had an outstanding warrant, and when she and a trainee officer attempted to arrest him, Wright pulled away and tried to drive off.   Potter yelled "Taser" repeatedly before she shot Wright with her handgun, video of the incident shows. DaBaby has been hit with a lawsuit after he allegedly attacked Brando Bills, the brother of his child's mother DaniLeigh, in a bowling alley brawl last week. Bills, whose legal name is Brandon Curiel, claims in the lawsuit that DaBaby "aggressively approached" him at Corbin Bowl in Los Angeles on Feb. 10 and threatened to rough him up. Brandon, 29, says the rapper then "physically assaulted" him, causing "severe injury and pain." Brandon claims he didn’t fight back and even "attempted to avoid contact" as the attack unfolded. He alleges the incident happened "suddenly and without warning" and left him "physically and psychologically damaged" with injuries that "are permanent in nature." The police in Delta state say two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a POS operator and Nollywood actress Mary Ngozi. Ngozi was killed at Boji-Boji Owa in Ika North-East Local Government Area of the state last year by members of a syndicate that specialises in robbing POS operators.  In a statement released by DSP Edafe Bright, spokesperson of the state police command, says on February 14, a  distress call was received by the DPO Owa-Oyibu that some suspects who robbed and shot some POS operators at Efeizomor Street, near Pekky Hotel in Owa-Oyibo have been arrested and that they are being lynched by an angry mob.    Edafe said a police patrol team was quickly mobilized to the scene where the two suspects namely, Onyeka Ifeanyi 'm' aged 19 yrs of No.10 Ije Street Agbor and Bright   Micheal Kester 'm' age 20yrs of No.5 Imudia Street Agbor were rescued from the mob and taken to the Station. ...

The Prince of Wales and his former right-hand man Michael Fawcett were reported to police over a Saudi billionaire who made donations to royal charities, allegedly after he was promised a knighthood and British citizenship. In a move that could heap further misery on the Queen and Royal Family, the Metropolitan Police on Wednesday announced it had launched a probe.
