Nollywood actress Nkiru Sylvanus is engaged.  Nkiru took to Instagram to show off her engagement ring with the caption "It is what it is".     

Cristiano Ronaldo has joined Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr on a deal that runs until 2025. The Portugal captain is a free agent after leaving Manchester United following a controversial interview in which he criticized the club. Ronaldo will reportedly receive the biggest football salary in history at more than £177m per year. The 37-year-old says he is "eager to experience a new football league in a different country". Ronaldo added: "I am fortunate that I have won everything I set out to win in European football and feel now that this is the right moment to share my experience in Asia."   Former Pope Benedict XVI has died at his Vatican residence, aged 95, almost a decade after he stood down because of ailing health. He led the Catholic Church for less than eight years until, in 2013, he became the first Pope to resign since Gregory XII in 1415. Benedict spent his final years at the Mater Ecclesiae monastery within the walls of the Vatican. His successor Pope Francis said he had visited him there frequently. The Vatican said in a statement: "With sorrow I inform you that the Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI, passed away today at 09:34 (08:34 GMT) in the Mater Ecclesiae Monastery in the Vatican. "Further information will be provided as soon as possible." The Vatican said the body of the Pope Emeritus will be placed in St Peter's Basilica from 2 January for "the greeting of the faithful". Kim Kardashian has revealed that she has a 'flirt' in her life while revealing that she wants to be single for a few years before getting married again.   Pele's funeral will take place inside the Santos stadium next week Monday January 2 and Tuesday January 3rd, the Brazilian club said, when fans will be able to pay their final respects to the football legend. The Brazilian legend, whose full name was Edson Arantes do Nascimento, died Thursday at the age of 82 after a long battle with cancer, sparking an outpouring of tributes from around the world. His body will go straight from the Albert Einstein Hospital to Estádio Urbano Caldeira in Vila Belmiro at dawn on Monday and the coffin will be placed in the centre of the pitch. The public wake is expected to begin at 10am.   The ceremony will continue until 10am on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, when the parade will take place through the streets of Santos. A court in Myanmar has sentenced former president Aung San Suu Kyi to seven years in prison for corruption, making it a total of 33 years imprisonment, bringing an end to the highly-politicized court proceedings against the ousted former leader.   The verdict on Friday, December 30 is the final punishment meted out to the 77-year-old, a democratically elected leader who has opposed decades of military rule. She led Myanmar for five years before being forced from power in a violent coup in early 2021.   The ruling Friday found Suu Kyi guilty of corruption in relation to the purchase, repair and rental of a helicopter for use during natural disasters and state affairs, including rescues and emergencies, the source said. The Premier League has announced clubs will pay tribute to Pele during the upcoming round of matches, following the Brazilian legend's death on Thursday December 29. The Brazilian football legend passed away at the age of 82 at the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital in Sao Paulo, after a lengthy battle with colon cancer.   'We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Pele, an extraordinarily gifted footballer who transcended our sport and inspired millions throughout his remarkable career,' the Premier League said in a statement. Television host, Nick Cannon has welcomed his 12th child with Alyssa Scott. The  Masked Singer  host and the model welcomed their second baby together, daughter Halo Marie Cannon, on Wednesday, December 14.  Announcing their daughter's birth on Thursday, December 29, Scott reflected on welcoming their new born just a year after the death of the pair's son Zen who died at 5 months old as a result of brain cancer.      She stated that their lives are "forever changed" and that Zen's "spirit was with [them]" when she gave birth to their daughter.   Scott wrote;    "December 14 2022. Kely Nascimento, the daughter of Pele, has confirmed her father's tragic passing at the age of 82 on Thursday, December 29.  The Brazilian legend passed away after a battle with colon cancer and his daughter has shared an emotional post with her followers on Instagram, stating that everything the family has, is thanks to Pele.  Nascimento shared a heartbreaking image of her family's final moments at the hospital before the football icon's death, and wrote in her caption; 'Everything we are is because of you. We love you infinitely.   Rapper Young Thug has been ordered to undergo a COVID-19 test after several of his co-defendants tested positive for the disease.  A court document obtained by TMZ revealed that some of the defendants and attorneys in Young Thug's ongoing case have tested positive for COVID. The court order states that Young Thug could also be at risk of getting COVID and must get tested.   The court order stamped on December 28, does not have results from Young Thug's COVID test. Young Thug has already been in custody for more than 7 months after being arrested in May on gang-related charges tied to a 56-count indictment. He's slated for trial in January, with jury selection beginning on January 5.   The football world has been thrown into mourning following the death of Brazil legend, Pele. The Brazilian legend passed away on Thursday, December 29, after battling with colon cancer which left him hospitalized for a month.   Pele had surgery to remove a tumour from his colon in September 2021 at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, after the tumour was detected in routine tests. He was readmitted to hospital in late November 2022. The hospital confirmed that Pele died "due to the failure of multiple organs, a result of the progression of colon cancer associated with his previous clinical condition". The Brazilian Football Confederation said: "Pele was much more than the greatest sportsperson of all time.
