Former Manchester United and France defender Patrice Evra has said he was s*xually abused as a teenager. In an interview to publicise his new autobiography, Evra told The Times on Friday the abuse took place when he was a 13-year-old schoolboy. The now 40-year-old Evra said that far more difficult than detailing the abuse in his autobiography or speaking about it an interview, was telling his mother for the first time. “Of course, she was devastated,” he told The Times. “It was a tough moment for me. British soul superstar Adele on Friday topped the British charts for the first time in six years with comeback single “Easy On Me”, notching the highest first-week sales since 2017. The single, in which she shares with the world details of the traumatic years she has endured since last releasing a record, achieved 217,300 chart sales, the highest week one figures since Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” in 2017, according to the Official Singles Chart. It also drew 24 million streams in Britain during its first week of release, smashing the record set by Ariana Grande in 2019.   Despite her years out of the limelight, her fans flocked online to hear her new song, which has already attracted almost 100 million views on YouTube. The Abolongo Correctional Centre in Oyo town in Oyo State was on Friday invaded by gunmen. Punch correspondent gathered that the gunmen attacked the facility with explosives around 10.30pm and set the inmates free. A search by security operatives for the fleeing inmates has begun.  The Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Command of Nigerian Correctional Services, Lanre Anjonrin, confirmed the attack, saying, “I am there now and we are assessing the level of damage done. We will make our findings known later.”  

A woman has died in a hospital after she was rushed there with severe burns. The woman, named Ebere, was set allegedly ablaze by her husband, according to a friend of hers mourning her on  Facebook.   The friend said Ebere had travelled for her mother's burial preparations and returned home without her luggage. When her husband asked why, she explained that she plans to travel again soon so didn't think it necessary to bring her belongings back with her. This reportedly angered the husband and he poured petrol and set her on fire at their home in Lagos. Ebere's injuries were so severe that she didn't survive.     The husband was also burnt by the fire he allegedly started and he's receiving treatment in a hospital in Lagos, according to the friend of the deceased.   Ebere's death has started a conversation about domestic violence on Facebook.
