Kayode Adebowale ha sbeen announced as the new Vice Chancellor of University of Ibadan. A former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief John Oyegun announced Professor Kayode Adebowale as the new Vice Chancellor. Oyegun made this announcement on Thursday. The tenure of the immediate VC, Professor Idowu Olayinka expired on November 30th, 2020. The institution appointed acting VC, Professor Babatunde Ekanola, due to the failure of the stakeholders to appoint a substantive VC.

Brazil football legend, Ronaldo doesn't believe Lionel Messi should win a seventh Ballon d'Or this season.   According to former Real Madrid striker, French susperstar Karim Benzema should win the illustrious award for the first time. Writing on Facebook, Ronaldo who won the Ballon d'Or during his time at Real Madrid  explained: "Without a doubt, my candidate for the Ballon d'Or is Benzema. The best striker, brutal level for 10 years and champion above all. Don't you think?"   The Ballon d'Or shortlist was recently announced with 30 names including Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as well as Benzema. Messi is the favourite to scoop the award with Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski and Chelsea midfielder Jorginho also strong contenders.

Former US President Bill Clinton has been admitted at the University of California Irvine Medical Center's intensive care unit for a urinary tract infection that spread to his bloodstream. His doctors told CNN on Thursday October 14, that Clinton was in the ICU for privacy and safety, not because he needs intensive care. He is said to be in good spirits, talking to family and staff, and has been up and walking, according to both his doctors and his staff. A  joint statement released on Thursday evening by Dr. Alpesh Amin, chair of medicine at UC Irvine Medical Center, and Dr. Lisa Bardack, Clinton's personal primary physician read;    "He was admitted to the ICU for close monitoring and administered IV antibiotics and fluids. He remains at the hospital for continuous monitoring. "After two days of treatment, his white blood cell count is trending down and he is responding to antibiotics well. Aleast 62 people have been killed with 66 others injured after a large explosion tore through a Shi'ite mosque in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar during Friday prayers, with the casualty toll likely to rise.  Taliban interior ministry spokesman Qari Saeed Khosti said authorities were collecting details of the explosion, which took place days after a suicide bomb attack claimed by the Islamic State group on a Shi'ite mosque in the northern city of Kunduz that killed scores of people.   Photos and footage posted by journalists on social media showed many people apparently dead or seriously wounded on the bloody floor of the Imam Bargah mosque. The Queen has been 'ordered to quit drinking by royal doctors.'  Her Majesty, who is in good physical health and has been seen using a walking stick during recent engagements in Wales with no specific medical reason given, has allegedly been advised to forgo alcohol except for special occasions due to her busy autumn schedule.      According to two sources close to the monarch quoted in a magazine, doctors have also given the advice ahead of the monarch's Platinum Jubilee celebrations next June.  'The Queen has been told to give up her evening drink which is usually a martini,' a family friend is said to have told Vanity Fair's Katie Nicholl. 'It's not really a big deal for her, she is not a big drinker but it seems a trifle unfair that at this stage in her life she's having to give up one of very few pleasures.' Former Chelsea Senegalese striker Demba Ba has disclosed that he used to borrow money to feed as a young footballer. Paris-born Ba had a difficult start to life as a professional footballer. Starting off in France, Ba earned himself a contract worth £900-a-month at fourth-tier side Rouen, but recalls having to borrow money just to feed himself in the first month. "My first contract at Rouen (in the French fourth division) had been for €1,063 net, per month, and I had to borrow €300 in the first month for food," he told The Athletic. Ba had trials at the likes of Watford, Barnsley, Swansea and Gillingham as a teenager, but never ended up getting offered a deal. The 36-year-old says the teams felt they already had players like him in the squad.
