The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has assented to the Administration of Criminal Justice (Amendment) Law of Lagos State, 2021. According to a statement on Tuesday by the Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), the governor signed the law on September 30, 2021. The statement said, “The ACJL was first passed in Lagos State in 2007 and amended in 2011. “In a bid to further strengthen the justice system, promote the rights of victims and suspects as well as address the issue of delay in the Administration of Criminal Justice in Lagos State, key innovative provisions have been introduced as amendments to the law.  “The provisions include conducting criminal proceedings through audio and video conferencing platform; the powers of Chief Magistrates to visit police stations; the prohibition of media parade of suspects; compensation to victims of crime; protective measures for victims and witnesses as well as the estab...

  The Nigerian Communications Commission has disqualified anyone below the age of 18 from registering and owning a Subscriber Identity Module in Nigeria. This is according to the draft copy of the modified Registration of Telephone Subscribers Regulations published on the commission’s website. In the modified regulations, NCC limited telecoms subscribers to only include anyone above the age of 18. “‘Subscriber’ means a person not below the age of 18 years who subscribes to communications services by purchasing a subscription medium or entering into a subscription contract with a licensee.”   The Licensee refers to ‘a provider of communications services that utilises a subscription medium in the Federal Republic of Nigeria’.   YouTube has permanently suspended two channels of disgraced R&B singer, R. Kelly, who was found guilty of sex offences last week. The platform will not allow him to create any new channels in future. However, YouTube has not banned Kelly’s music: The internet video giant will continue to offer the singer’s music catalogue on YouTube Music. On Tuesday, YouTube removed the two channels — RKellyTV (which had 3.5 million subscribers) and RKellyVevo (which had about 1.6 million subscribers) — citing a violation of its terms of service, Variety report. Attempts to watch videos on the now-removed channels display a message that says, “This video is no longer available because the YouTube account associated with this video has been terminated.”   “Egregious actions committed by R. The United Kingdom (UK) has released a list of 50 countries it recognises their COVID19 vaccine certificates and Nigeria is conspicuously absent from the list. This means that fully vaccinated Nigerians travelling to the UK still need to self-isolate for 10 days. Nigeria wasn't added on the list despite not being on the UK’s COVID-19 red list. No other African country was on the list. A murderer who was executed on death row last night, October 5, wrote a shocking final statement before he was executed.   The infamous Ernest Lee Johnson, 61, was pronounced dead at 6.11pm local time on Tuesday, October 5, after being given a lethal injection in Bonne Terre, Missouri.   He was handed a death sentence for killing three Missouri corner shop employees with a hammer during a robbery in February 1994.   Johnson came home covered in blood, having told his crack dealer he would be robbing the store. His victims were 46-year-old Mary Bratcher, Fred Jones (58) and Mabel Scruggs, 57.   In the hours leading up to his death, the convict penned a short letter in which he told his family he loved them and told them "I know where I'm going".   He added that he is "going to heaven" because he had asked God to forgive him.   The statement, released by local news journalist Kathryn Merck on Twitter, also sees him ...
