British teenage tennis sensation Emma Raducanu has made history after winning her US Open semi-final in straight sets to secure a place in her first major final and a cheque for a minimum of $1.25million (£900,000). She is the first British woman to reach the US Open final since Virginia Wade in 1968, and the youngest Slam finalist since Maria Sharapova at Wimbledon in 2004. She is also the first British woman to reach a Grand Slam final in 44 years. Former US President Donald Trump has disclosed that he’d like to beat up his predecessor Joe Biden in a boxing match.  During a promotional event for a boxing match between Evander Holyfield , 58, and Vitor Belfort, 44, Mr. Trump, 75, made the disclosure about who he’d like to face in the ring. “Well if I had to pick somebody in the world, not only a professional boxer because I’ll take a pass on the professional boxers – that can be a very dangerous subject. “I think probably my easiest fight would be Joe Biden  because I think he’d go down very, very quickly.” Mr Trump told the audience by telephone, The former president added that he thought “Biden would go down in the first few seconds.” The comments drew laughter and applause from the hosts, the boxers, and a few journalists at the Triller Fight Club event. Chinese President, Xi Jinping spoke with US president, Joe Biden on phone, the first time both leaders will talk in seven months amid tension between both countries. US- China relations are at their worst since the world war, with clashes over issues like trade, espionage, Taiwan, human rights and the Covid-19 pandemic. A White House Statement said both leaders had "discussed the responsibility of both nations to ensure competition does not veer into conflict". "The two leaders had a broad, strategic discussion in which they discussed areas where our interests converge, and areas where our interests, values, and perspectives diverge," the White House Statement added. "This discussion, as President Biden made clear, was part of the United States' ongoing effort to responsibly manage the competition between the United States and the PRC." A Swedish couple have been banned from naming their son after Russian president  Vladimir Putin. The new parents submitted their request to name the boy after the Russian president to the tax agency, as is required by Swedish law.  Names can be barred if they are offensive or if they could cause 'discomfort for the bearer,' however, the agency's reasoning has not been revealed in this case.  The parents from Laholm, southern Sweden, have been forced to go back to the drawing board and come up with a different name for the boy, according to public broadcaster SR.  The tax agency has previously rejected first names including Allah, Ford, Michael Jackson, Pilzner, Q, and Token.

The Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, on Thursday, September 9,  arrested thirty three (33) suspected internet fraudsters during a sting operation at different locations in Calabar, Cross River State. Seventeen of the arrested suspects were picked up at a location on Post Office Street, Royal Estate, off Ekot Onin, while ten were apprehended at No.1 Marian Owan by Lemena junction. The other six suspects were arrested at Parliamentary Extension, Calabar. The suspects aged between 22 - 35 years are: Modey Terrence Akong, Detoo Bem Daniel, Godson Topbie, Moses Valentine Nkpung, Idang Confidence, Chinagorom Edward, Enwereuzo Chidiebere, Obioma ThankGod, Richard Reinhard, Clinton Christopher, Raymond Samuel, Etim Paul, Okechukwu Caleb and Joseph Akobo. Talk show host Wendy Williams has cancelled all her public appearances, citing "ongoing health issues." A statement was released on her TV show's Instagram account, Thursday, September 9, saying Williams will undergo further evaluations. The statement reads: "Wendy is dealing with some ongoing health issues and is undergoing further evaluations. "She will not be able to complete her promotional activities next week, but can't wait to be back in her purple chair Monday, September 20th for the 13th season premiere."   In May last year, the 57-year-old TV personality went on a hiatus due to underlying health issues surrounding her Graves' disease.

There has been a debate on Twitter about which is the wiser option between dinner with Jay-Z and $500K. People have been divided as some say $500K is better as you can't get much out of the billionaire rapper in just a few hours spent having dinner. Others said dinner with Jay-Z is better in the long run.     Jay-Z has now responded via TIDAL, his company's handle. "Take the $500K," the businessman wrote simply.  

The police in Imo state has uncovered a church used as a baby factory in the state. Former Manchester City and Bayern Munich defender,  footballer Jerome Boateng has been fined £1.5 million by a court in Munich after being found guilty of biting and punching his ex-girlfriend.     The German  football star, 33, was convicted of assaulting his ex-fiancée Sherin Senler during a Caribbean holiday three years ago but avoided a potential five-year jail term.  Ms Senler, who is the mother of his twin daughters, told the court on Thursday September 9, that Boateng bit her and spat blood in her face, and punched her in the kidney so hard she could not breathe.  Boateng had earlier denied all the allegations made against him as he testified for almost two hours on Thursday. Art Metrano, who played the role of Officer Ernie Mauser in two  Police Academy  films is dead at the age of 84.  Metrano died of natural causes on Wednesday September 8 at his home in Aventura, Florida, 32 years after he suffered a serious injury that derailed his career.    Metrano's son, Harry Metrano shared the news on Instagram on Thursday September 9.
