The UN has raised an alarm that the Taliban are already carrying out severe rights abuses in Afghanistan including 'summary executions' of civilians, the recruitment of child soldiers and restrictions on the rights of women and girls.  The High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet urged the Human Rights Council to take 'bold and vigorous action' after the Taliban's takeover raised fears that they will return the country to the brutal rule they imposed when they were last in power. American rapper R5 Homixide has died at the age of 22, his friends confirmed on social media. The Lion Heart performer, whose real name is Rashad Dowdy, passed away on Monday 23 August. It has not yet been confirmed how the singer died. Fellow rappers and artists have gone on social media to share their heartbreak over his sudden demise. Fellow rapper Problem Child 5 shared a sweet snap of himself and Dowdy as his first post on Instagram, which he captioned: "Who tf gone watch my back now. Take me with you twin."     Artist Money Game Boo also shared a touching tribute online with a lengthy caption dedicated to the up and coming rapper.     The Atlanta rapper first released his debut album Gvnganati 3 back in March last year at the start of the pandemic. He found fame for his hit song Lion Heart which he released just four months later.

The tallest man in America — he stood 7 feet 8 inches (2.35 meters) — has died of a heart problem at the age of 38, his mother said on Facebook. Ukrainian-born Igor Vovkovinskiy had a condition called pituitary gigantism that caused excessive secretion of growth hormone. His mother, who said her son died Friday in Minnesota, had brought him from their home in Ukraine in 1989 to get medical treatment at the Mayo Clinic in the northern US state. Two surgeries saved his life but failed to stop his growth. At age 27, Guinness World Records declared Vovkovinskiy the tallest person in America.

R. Kelly allegedly 'pressured' a former girlfriend into having oral sex with him when she was 17, a court has heard. The 54-year-old legendary R&B singer's federal trial for racketeering and sex trafficking charges continued for the fourth day in Brooklyn, New York, on Monday, August 23, with Kelly denying the charges. The prosecutor says that Kelly allegedly abused 22 victims, but have only filed charges centered around six alleged victims. On Monday, the second witness, known in Kelly’s indictment as Jane Doe #5, testified in Brooklyn’s Federal District Court as she claimed the pair’s first sexual encounter happened when she thought she was meeting him for an audition. Unlike the previous week's accuser Jerhonda Pace, this witness testified under a pseudonym because of privacy concerns, and her real name does not appear in court records. Kanye West is recreating his Chicago childhood home for his next "Donda" listening party. Photos taken inside Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears, where Kanye is getting set to host his 3rd listening party for his upcoming album, show a replica of the rapper's childhood home being set up. Construction is in full swing and it seems the house is in the middle of the football field.     Kanye's latest album name is "Donda," an homage to his late mother, so it seems fitting Kanye would represent their old home for his listening party in the city where he was born and raised. Kanye has also deleted every post on his Instagram except for a photo of the old Chicago house, which he bought last year for $225,000.  

A judge has increased Tory Lanez’s bail for violating a protective order granted to Megan Thee Stallion after he appeared on the Rolling Loud stage in Miami last month shortly after her performance.  After being arrested and subsequently charged for felony assault over an incident where he was accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion on her leg in July 2020,Tory Lanez was issued a protective order. At the time, a judge required Lanez to refrain from contacting or coming within 100 yards of Megan.  During a court appearance on Monday, August 23, a judge ordered Lanez to pay additional bail, saying he violated the protective order during his appearance at DaBaby’s Rolling Loud Miami set. His bail was increased to $250,000 from $190,000. This comes after prosecutors filed a motion earlier this month requesting that the judge either increase his bail or revoke it since he was allegedly within 100 yards of Megan when he made a surprise appearance during DaBaby’s controvers...

  Businessman, Obi Iyiegbu, aka Obi Cubana, gifted his wife Ebele Iyiegbu a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE53. Ebele, a trained lawyer, took to Instagram to share a photo of her posing with her new car. She also thanked those who congratulated her on her new ride.  

The reigning premier league champions, Manchester City have suffered a huge blow in their pursuit of Tottenham and England striker, Harry Kane. City are known to be long-term admirers of Tottenham striker Harry Kane, and accordingly, the Premier League champions are determined to sign the England captain before the ongoing transfer window closes on the 31st of August. Russian president, Vladimir Putin has told leaders of countries in Asia to keep ‘extremists’ at bay following the Taliban’s takeover of power in Afghanistan. It's the first time that Putin is lending his voice to the international dilemma caused by the withdrawal of US forces from the Taliban controlled Afghanistan. Russia is keen to ensure that the instability in Afghanistan does not spill over into Central Asia, part of the former Soviet Union it regards as its own backyard. Zambia's newly-elected president, Hakainde Hichilema, has been sworn into office after pulling off a stunning rare victory over incumbent President, Edgar Lungu in a landslide by almost one million votes in his sixth attempt at becoming ruler of Zambia. It was a remarkable turnaround for Hichilema who spent several months in prison in 2017, after the government of Lungu imprisoned him for what were widely seen as politically motivated treason charges.  The charges were later dropped following intense international pressure. The Liberia National Police has arrested Apostle D. Franklin Snorton, the Founder and General Overseer of the Image of Christ Deliverance Philadelphia Central Church in Kakata, Margibi County for allegedly raping a 21-year-old pregnant woman.  The incident allegedly occurred at the pastors Mandingo Quarter community residence in Kakata. The suspect was expected to be arraigned before the Kakata Magisterial Court on Monday, August 23, 2021. Apostle Snorton, who is a neighbor to the rape survivor, was arrested in Kakata on Friday, August 20, 2021, after his alleged rape survivor’s father reported the case to the Women and Children Protection Section at the Margibi County Detachment of the Liberia National Police.
