Thibaut Courtois has signed a new five-year contract at Real Madrid until 2026. The Belgian goalkeeper has been at the club since making the move from Chelsea in the summer of 2018, and has proved to be one of the best goalkeepers in world football.  Real Madrid released a statement on Monday August 16, to confirm the news of Courtois' new contract, which will see him stay at the club until the age of 34. "Real Madrid and Thibaut Courtois have agreed to extend the player's contract for five more seasons, until June 30, 2026," read the club's statement. This summer Courtois featured for Belgium at Euro 2020 as they reached the quarter-finals and he has now represented his country on 89 occasions.

  The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has written to the United States Embassy in Nigeria, demanding fairness for Nigeria’s police chief, Abba Kyari, who was indicted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Kyari is being accused of having collected bribes from suspected billionaire fraudster, Abbas Ramon, also known as Hushpuppi. However, the Northern groups in a letter sent to the American Embassy in Abuja, said it was worried by the trajectory introduced around Kyari’s case, Daily Trust reports. CNG stated that it did not deny the FBI or any other police organisation has the right to investigate the crimes allegedly committed by the cop, but it appealed that he should be treated fairly. The petition, signed by the group’s spokesman, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, maintained that some “fundamental procedural lapses in the conduct of the investigation which tend not only to threaten the sovereign status of Nigeria but also infringe on its citizen’s rights and civil ...

Inter Milan fans have defaced another mural of their former striker Romelu Lukaku after his £97.5million move to Chelsea.  The supporters are angry with the player and their own club for allowing the star forward who scored 30 goals last season as the Nerazzuri won their first Serie A title in 11 years, to leave despite assurance from both the club and player that the Belgian would be staying. The latest defaced mural scribbles out part of the Belgian striker's face and has 'sell-out traitor' written in Italian.     Originally the mural depicted Lukaku clashing heads with former Manchester United team-mate and AC Milan rival Zlatan Ibrahimovic during a Milan derby clash last season.   It comes after a mural painted for their Serie A title success was defaced shortly before his move to Chelsea was confirmed. Nollywood actress Doris Chima is dead.  The veteran actress died after a long battle with breast cancer. She was diagnosed with the ailment in 2020 and her breast was cut off to prevent further damage. While confirming her demise, the chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Lagos state chapter, Emeka Rising Ibe, said he is still in shock over the sad incident as Chima was a dedicated member and good woman.   “She called me last week and pleaded due to ill health not to remove her from the verification exercise I embarked on to ascertain true members of the guild in Lagos. Yesterday morning, I got a call that she was dead. Though I am yet to visit the family but it is a great loss for us. I pray for the repose of her soul.”he said May she find peace with her maker🙏

Award-winning American adult star, Victoria Paris has died at the age of 60. Paris, who first entered the adult entertainment industry in 1988, passed away last Tuesday, August 10, after a battle with cancer, according to AVN. Tributes from friends and colleagues poured in after news of Paris's death spread. Director Axel Braun recalled Paris starring in the first movie he wrote in 1990, Fantasy Nights. "I wrote the lead specifically for her because she was very classy and had an aura of innocence that fit perfectly with the story I wanted to tell," he said. An eight-year-old girl and her mother were discovered tied to a bed and dead inside their St Louis City home.  Terri Bankhead, 27, and her daughter Da’Nilya, aged 8, were found shot in their north St Louis City home on Wednesday afternoon, August 11.  Police found them dead around 3pm after Terri’s mother went to the house to check on their child, CBS St Louis reported.   The St Louis Metropolitan Police Department believes that they were targeted. ‘I’m asking the community to assist the police department in this investigation so that we can hold any and everybody accountable in this tragic situation,’ Police Chief John Hayden said.  ‘It’s just too much for anyone to bear, so we’re asking the community to assist us and provide us with information.’ Bankhead’s cousin, Shagreggria Brown, told NBC St. Louis, ‘It’s very hard to believe. Malaysia's Prime Minister, Muhyiddin Yassin on Monday August 16 resigned from his position after months of political turmoil.  Muhyiddin offered his resignation to the King after holding a special meeting with his cabinet. This follows months of political instability that led to the loss of his majority in parliament. His resignation also hampers efforts to reboot a pandemic-stricken economy and curb a resurgence of COVID-19 infections. He said in a televised address that he had submitted his resignation to the king because he had failed to maintain the confidence of a majority of lawmakers.   The Southeast Asian nation's King has now appointed Muhyiddin as the caretaker prime minister until a new premier can be found, but did not give a timeline.   South Africa's jailed ex-president Jacob Zuma, who was recently moved from prison to a health facility, has undergone surgery and will stay in hospital for further procedures, the government said Sunday. "Mr. Zuma underwent a surgical procedure on Saturday, 14 August 2021, with other procedures scheduled for the coming days," the correctional services department announced in a statement, saying it could not predict a discharge date yet. The 79-year-old was admitted to the hospital for observation on August 6 for an undisclosed condition, and he has remained there. His long-running corruption trial over an arms deal dating back more than two decades was last week postponed to next month pending a medical report declaring Zuma's fitness for trial. Bayern Munich legend, Gerd Muller, has died at the age of 75. Muller passed away on Sunday morning, August 15. Bayern Munich disclosed this in a statement via their website. "Today the world of FC Bayern stands still. The German record champions and its entire fan base mourn Gerd Müller, who died early Sunday morning at the age of 75," the statement read in part. The former World Cup winner, Known as "Der Bomber", was one of Germany’s greatest ever strikers, scoring 68 times for the national team and a remarkable 566 times in 607 competitive games for Bayern to establish himself as their all-time leading scorer. Former Atletico Madrid and Chelsea striker, Diego Costa has signed for Brazilian Serie A side Atletico Mineiro after eight months without a club. Costa, 32, has been a free agent since Atletico Madrid terminated his contract six months before its expiration date last December, with the Spaniards citing 'personal reasons' for the move.  Following the termination of his contract, Costa was allowed to join any side as a free agent and was linked with several clubs. On Sunday, Atletico Mineiro confirmed the striker's arrival in an official statement on their website, which reads: "Diego Costa is a Galo player. "The athletic board and the player reached an agreement today. Galo will be his first club as a professional athlete in Brazil."     The Spain International rejoined Atletico Madrid from Chelsea on a permanent three-and-a-half-year contract in January 2018, but left Wanda Metropolitano six months before the end of the agreement.

Governor of Kenyan state, Machakos, Dr. Alfred Mutua and his wife Lillian Nganga have separated. Lilian Ng’ang’a who announced that she will be stepping down as Machakos County First lady, said she decided to end the relationship two months ago in what she termed as winds of change. Revealing that she now wants to concentrate on charity work, Lilian added that she and Alfred will remain close friends heading to the future.
