Mario Balotelli has been cleared of a rape allegation after a  girl who was 16 at the time, accused the Italian footballer of the offence in France . The incident allegedly occurred in July 2017, when the former Manchester City and Liverpool star was playing for French side Nice. The 31-year-old said that the pair had met when she was on holiday and they had consensual sex, after which she contacted him asking for €100,000 (£84,930). Balotelli reported the attempted extortion attempt to the police, three weeks before his accuser and her lawyer contacted authorities.  However, Italian police in Balotelli's hometown of Brescia have closed the case, deeming that any accusation levelled at the footballer was 'unfounded'.   'Balotelli is satisfied, as this was an unacceptable and insulting accusation,' the Italian's lawyer said.    'It's a pity for the girl, who proved herself to be an instrument in the hands of an adult without scruples.' ...

A Nigerian man alleged to have hacked into the server of a Nigerian bank to steal N1.87 billion has been arrested. Salau Abdulmalik Femi, 38, was arrested by detectives from the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). Salau, accused of being the kingpin of a syndicate that specialises in hacking into the servers of banks and corporate agencies, was arrested after he allegedly hacked the Flex-Cube Universal Banking System (FCUBS) of a first generation bank. The spokesman of SFU, Ikoyi, Lagos, DSP Eyitayo Johnson, in a statement, said the suspect, using application software, created fictitious credits totalling N1.87bn on the accounts of three of the bank’s customers.  "Items recovered from the suspect include an Apple laptop and an iPhone. He and operators of some Bureau De Change (BDC) who used to launder the monies will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded," DSP Johnson said.   According to DSP Jo...

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has extended his contract with the club until the summer of 2025. The Netherlands captain, 30, joined Liverpool from Southampton for £75m in January 2018 and was due to be out of contract in June 2023.   Van Dijk made his comeback to first-team action in pre-season after nine months out with a serious knee injury sustained in October's Merseyside derby.   "All the hard work we've put in so far continues and I am looking forward to what the future brings together with Liverpool.   Belgian striker, Romelu Lukaku has returned to Stamford Bridge in a deal worth £98million, Chelsea FC has confirmed. A Nigerian man accused of being a member of an international syndicate committing online fraud, has been arrested in Lahore, Pakistan. A Final Year student of the Tai Solarin University of Education Ijagun, Ogun State, Oshokoya Deborah Ayomikun, who recently completed her final year exams, has allegedly committed suicide. It was gathered that Ayomikun, who was a student of Adult Education, died after taking a poisonous substance suspected to be Sniper. There are indications she took her own life because of a possible extra year as she was unable to pass one of her final year courses. The Nigerian High Commission has shut down its United Kingdom office due to exposure to COVID-19. The commission in a statement titled, ‘Closure of Nigerian High Commission, London’ announced that the mission would be closed for 10 working days as officials tested positive to COVID-19. Part of the statement read: “The Head of Immigration Section and two other officials went for a meeting at the Home Office. “At the entrance, Coronavirus test was administered on them and one of them tested positive to COVID-19.
