The high-flying Nigerian D’Tigers were defeated by Australia in their last exhibition game ahead of the Olympics. D’Tigers basketball team were thrashed 108-69,  losing by 39 points in the last exhibition game before the Olympics. Coach Mike Brown changed the starting lineup for this game in an attempt to give some players more minutes.  Josh Okojie and Gabe Nnamdi kept their starring roles while Jahlil Okafor, Miye Oni, and Chimezie Metu came in for Ike Nwamu, Precious Achiuwa, and KZ Okpala.  The game against Australia came after the Nigerian team defeated the number one ranked the U.S. and blowing out fourth-ranked Argentina.

Actress Crytsal Okoye took to Instagram to call out her colleague, Chizzy Alichi, while accusing her of pulling strings to make her lose a job. According to Crystal, Chizzy, upon realizing they were on set together, called the person who contacted them for the job to allegedly inform them that she can't be on the same set with her. Crystal said she had made her hair for the village scene before she was told she wouldn't be needed for the movie again. She claimed the animosity from Chizzy started because she didn't post her on her birthday. She explained that she had traveled from Asaba, Delta state, to Ebonyi state to celebrate Chizzy when she got married and she has always celebrated her. A daredevil social media influencer has died after falling off a waterfall while trying to take a selfie. Sofia Cheung, 32, fell 16 feet to her death into the Tsing Dai stream near Yuen Long, Hong Kong on Saturday, July 10. She had spent the day with three friends at Ha Pak Lai nature park. Sofia, whose Instagram page lists hiking, kayaking, exploring, outdoor activities, and photography as her passions, had climbed up to the top of the waterfall to take the photos later that day when she lost her footing and fell into the water.     Her friends immediately called emergency services, and paramedics were able to get Sofia to a hospital in Hong Kong, but she was tragically pronounced dead on arrival. Friends have mourned the influencer whose Instagram bio reads: "Life should be fun not dumb."  

Singer, Charles Oputa aka Charly Boy has said he does not believe in one Nigeria. In a chat with The Nation, the 70-year-old singer said his submission is as a result of the current happenings in the country, which have continued to reoccur over the last four decades.   “No, I don’t (believe in one Nigeria) because we are in bed with strange fellows who don’t understand us and we don’t understand them,” Charly Boy said   The singer, who is working on the release of a new EP, said he has no regrets about the life he has lived. “No, I will do it over and over again. I love my life. I love how I have unfolded over the years,” he said.  

  The national working committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has suspended the immediate past Governor of Imo State and Senator representing Imo West Constituency at the Senate, Rochas Okorocha over alleged gross anti-party activities.  The suspension letter dated July 12 and signed by the  Acting National Chairman, Mai Mala Buni and John Akpanudoedehe, Secretary of the Party, stated that one of the alleged anti-party activities include 'flagrant abuse on the person and Office of the President"  "This is to communicate to you, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Party ratification of your suspension by the Imo State Chapter of our great party for anti-party activities,” the letter addressed to the Senator partly reads.  "The suspension follows after the recommendation by the Imo State Disciplinary Committee set up to investigate allegations of gross anti-party activities against you w...

Roger Federer has withdrawn from the Tokyo Olympic Games due to a setback with his knee. The 39-year-old, who has already had two knee operations during 2020, lost to Poland's Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon. In a statement on Tuesday, July 13, he said his body is not in the right place for another Olympic medal bid. "Due to the grass-court season, I unfortunately experienced a setback with my knee and have accepted that I must withdraw from the Tokyo Olympic Games," Federer said on social media. "I am greatly disappointed, as it has been an honour and highlight of my career each time I have represented Switzerland. "I have already begun rehabilitation in the hopes of returning to the tour later this summer. I wish the entire Swiss team the best of luck and I will be rooting hard from afar.
