Inter Milan have appointed former Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi as their new coach to replace Antonio Conte, who guided the club to their first Serie A title in 11 years. The Nerazzurri released a statement via the club’s official homepage confirming that the now-former Biancocelesti coach has signed a two-year deal with the club, which expires at the end of June 2023. Simone Inzaghi began his coaching career with Lazio managing their various youth teams before being promoted to the first team in April 2016 when replacing Stefano Pioli who was sacked mid-season The 45-year-old led Lazio to five straight finishes in the top seven in Serie A, which saw them played in a European cup competition every season he’s been in charge, including the Champions League this past season. This is just the latest managerial change in Serie A since the end of the campaign, with Juventus, Napoli, and Fiorentina among those to have dismissed their coaches.

Nigerian athlete, Blessing Okagbare has set a new meet record after winning the 100m women’s event at P-T-S Meeting in Samorin, Slovak Republic in 10.98 secs.  With her impressive run in 10.98 secs, Okagbare set a new meet record as no other woman has ever won the race under 11 seconds in the Meet held in the Eastern European country. The excited Nigerian athlete wrote on Facebook;    “Thank God for another healthy race/win today."     Okagbare first broke the 11 seconds barrier for the first time in her career at the Crystal Palace Aviva London Grand Prix in London on July 14, 2012, when she ran 10.99 secs. This is also the 21st time Okagbare has run under 11 seconds in her career; a feat no Nigerian athlete has replicated. 

Former Arsenal, Juventus, and Wolfsburg forward Nicklas Bendtner has announced his retirement from football at the age of 33.  The ex-Denmark international, who made 81 caps and scored 30 goals for his country over 12 years from 2006-2018, most recently played for Tarnby FF's 'M+32 Old Boys' team.' Bendtner enjoyed a spell at Arsenal under Arsene Wenger from 2005-2014, where he scored 45 goals in 171 appearances.    'I miss it every day, but I am also aware that there is an end date in this job. I think I'll spend a lot of time understanding that it's really over now,' Bendtner told Bendtner & Philine on Discovery +.  'Now I will find something else that gives me what football has given me in all the years. The Rivers State Police Command has arrested three members of a one-chance robbery gang including a woman. The trio were arrested on Wednesday, June 2, at Rumuosi community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state after dispossessing a filling station manager, Simeon Ibrahim, of N1.5million. It was gathered that the victim was on his way to a new generation bank along Rumokoro axis of the council when the robbers who operated as commercial taxi operators trailed and carried him. While on their way, the female suspect screamed that her hands were hurting and appealed to Ibrahim to assist her in opening the vehicle's door. While Ibrahim was trying to open the door, they took the money from him and tried to push him out of the vehicle but the victim dragged the steering wheel and raised alarm.  A taxi driver was said to have blocked the robbers with his car and residents apprehended the robbers who unsuccessfully tried to flee.  Spokesperson ...

  Israel’s opposition leader moved closer to unseating Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he officially told the country’s president that he has reached agreements with political allies to form a new government. About 35 minutes before a Wednesday midnight deadline, the centrist Yair Lapid told President Reuven Rivlin in an email: “I am honored to inform you that I have succeeded in forming a government.” Rivlin, attending Israel’s soccer cup final at the time, congratulated Lapid by phone, according to his office. Lapid’s main partner is nationalist Naftali Bennett, who would serve as prime minister first under a rotation between the two men. Robbers have stormed two towns in Osun State, hitting two banks and a police station. The banks attacked were First Bank in Ikire, headquarters of Irewole Local Government Area and Access Bank in Apomu, headquarters of Isokan Local Government Area. Their arrival at about 5.30- 6pm on Wednesday and sporadic shooting caused great panic. Residents said the robbers first attacked the Apomu bank before moving to Ikire. From videos and photos shared online, both banks were bombed by the bandits.   The heist taken away was yet unknown. At least four people were killed in the two attacks.   American rapper, Wisdom Awute, and another man are facing attempted murder charges in a shooting that injured two people in Miami Beach earlier this week. Wisdom Awute, a rapper who is part of DaBaby's Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment label, and Christopher Urena have been arrested in connection with the shooting, Miami Beach Police officials said. Awute, 21, and Urena, 29, both face charges of attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault. Urena also faces charges of grand theft and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.     Police received multiple 911 calls reporting the shooting just after 11:30 p.m. on Monday along the popular strip of Art Deco hotels and restaurants. Officers found one person struck in the shoulder and another in the leg not far from the Prime 112 restaurant. Former Super Eagles Captain, John Mikel Obi has signed a contract extension with Championship side, Stoke City. The club announced that they reached an agreement with the former Chelsea midfielder to stay with the club for mother twelve months. “Contract extensions have been activated to retain the services of defender James Chester and midfielder John Obi Mikel,”reads a statement on the club website. The 34-year-old, who signed for the Potters last summer after leaving Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor is now expected to remain at the Bet 365 stadium until the summer of 2022. Mikel played 41 times for the Potters in the 2020/21 season and was one of the most important players for the campaign.

President Muhammadu Buhari has been asked by the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) to allow the Igbos have Biafra so there will be peace in the country.  The CNG in a statement by its spokesman, Abdul-Azeez Sulaiman, said President Buhari's tweet which was widely criticized for referencing the civil war merely amounts to admission of failure and loss of capacity.   Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 11 suspected internet fraudsters in Lagos state. The suspects are: Nwomkiro Ekene Jude, Olukoya Oluwadamilare Timilehin, Akingbade Mubarak Ayoboye, Adeolu Kolawole Oluwajifemi, Nwankwo Tochuckwu Michael, Kehinde Timilehin Ajibola, Adesina Deji, Olalekan Abiola, Anthony Ekene Iwuji, Emeka Metuh and Oluwasegun Pelumi. A statement issued by EFCC’s spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren on Wednesday said they were arrested on Monday, May 31, 2021 in the Alagbado area of Lagos State, following credible intelligence received by the Commission about their involvement in computer-related fraud. Upon their arrest, items such as mobile devices, laptops and exotic cars were recovered from them. The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are conducted.  

Jewish Agency chairman, Isaac Herzog has been elected as the11th president of the State of Israel after receiving 87 votes from parliamentary members in a secret ballot vote in the Knesset plenum. 60-year-old Herzog's opponent, Israel Prize-winning educator Miriam Peretz received 27 votes and three Members abstained. Had she been elected, Peretz would have become Israel’s first woman president. It was the largest victory in any presidential election in Israel’s history. A former United States Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell (L), and a former Director with Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, Prof. Robert Rotberg (R), have said it is time for the United States to acknowledge that Nigeria is a failed state. Campbell and Rotberg said this is in light of the many security threats plaguing the country. This was made known in an article titled, "The Giant of Africa is Failing" which was published in the May/June edition of Foreign Affairs magazine. Both men stated that every part of Nigeria now faces insecurity which threatens the nation’s corporate existence.
