The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has arrested a 70-year-old suspected drug trafficker, who allegedly supplied illicit substances to Boko Haram insurgents and bandits. The agency’s spokesman Femi Babafemi disclosed this in a statement made available to reporters on Saturday in Abuja. Mr Babafemi said the suspect, who hailed from Dallawa town, Agadez, Niger Republic, was arrested on Thursday with 10 pallets of skunk in Jebba, Niger. According to him, he had brought into Nigeria hides and skin from the Niger Republic to sell in Lagos. During interrogation, the suspect claimed he sold his goods for N300,000 in Lagos and used the fund to buy 10 pallets of skunk at N25,000 each. “He was on his way back to the Niger Republic through the North-West where he sells drugs to bandits when he was intercepted in Jebba,” he said. Boko Haram terrorists have blown up a power tower in Maiduguri, plunging the capital city into darkness again barely three days after electricity was restored.  The terrorists had struck power installations thrice to keep the city in the dark in January. Channels Television reported that it took power authorities almost two months to repair the damage inflicted in January as the insurgents laid land mines, which injured officials of the Transmission Company of Nigeria when repairs commenced. However after electricity was restored on Wednesday March 24, the insurgents launched another attack on a power tower in the city.   

Aisha Yesufu has replied the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, who on Friday, March 26, said in an interview with Channels TV that nobody can bring down the Buhari-led administration because it is a democratically elected government.   ''I want to assure Nigerians that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is addressing multiple challenges that are facing the country especially in dealing with security and yet we are still making progress in agriculture, economy, anti-corruption. It is sad for the country that opposition is exploiting some of these things. Super Eagles’ Alex Iwobi has tested positive for Covid-19 following mandatory tests taken alongside other players and staff members. The team had been subjected to coronavirus tests before leaving Nigeria and on arrival at Porto Novo on Friday.

  Belgium league goal scoring machine, Paul Onuachu scored a late winner as the Super Eagles of Nigeria beat Benin 1-0 at the Stade Charles de Gaulle on Saturday night, March 27, at the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifier. Onuachu nodded home in the 93rd minute ending Benin’s eight year unbeaten home run, after scrambling for the ball during a frantic goal mouth action.   With the goal, the Super Eagles now top Group L with 11 points from five games. Benin will now have to fight for qualification next week in Sierra Leone, after Sierra Leone drew 0-0 in Lesotho earlier today.   The Super Eagles will now play Lesotho in Lagos next week, but the game will have no significance giving Rohr an opportunity to test fringe players.  

  Governor Nyesom Wike has described Grammy award-winning Afrobeat artist, Burna Boy, as the pride of the state. Governor Wike said this when Burna Boy, his parents and management team paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Saturday March 27.   “There is no Rivers person that will say he or she is not happy with the kind of pride you’ve brought us. I am very happy and I can tell you, whatever you think we can do to promote you, we will continue to do it.” he said   Wike congratulated Burna Boy for the honour he did to the people of the state all over the world explaining that when news broke that Burna Boy was the winner in the Best Global Music Album category with his Twice As Tall album, the entire state was elated.
