Akon stole hearts with his talents and looks in the early 2000s, but now looks different from the young Akon who graced our screens and stages.   The Senegalese-American singer, who started his music career in 2003, immediately rose to prominence in 2004 following the release of Locked Up.   The singer is now mostly focused on business and philanthropy and has not been gracing our screens as much.   Now 47, Akon has beefed up a bit and also has some gray hairs. Forbes has denied reports that Kanye West is now the richest black man in America's history after his businesses were valued at $6.6 billion. Multiple media outlets had reported that Kanye West is now worth $6.6 billion  after Bloomberg reported that his sneaker brand Yeezy as well as Yeezy Gap have a combined value of as much as $4.7 billion However, Forbes says "it's not true." The publication adds: "Based on our calculations. Forbes estimates he’s worth less than a third of that, or $1.8 billion." Forbes further stated that "reports that the celebrity is worth nearly $7 billion are based on the magical thinking around sales that don’t yet exist. This is why he’s currently worth less than one third of that." Vista Equity’s Robert F. Smith remains the richest Black person in the U.S., with an estimated net worth of $6 billion. Nigerian born martial arts champion, Kamaru Usman has shared stories of his humble beginning in Nigeria before relocating to the United States in search of greener pastures.  In an interview on Channels Television, Usman who is UFC’s current welterweight champion recalled selling fufu while living in Edo state.  The Auchi-born fighter who moved to the US at the age of 8, described his mother as a hustler who sold different things.  Usman said;    “We grew up in the village. We farmed. As a small boy, farm boy, I used to hawk Akpu, put hot Akpu on my head. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the soft-spoken Vice President of Tanzania, was on Friday, March 19, sworn in as the East African country’s first female president after the sudden death of President John Magufuli from an illness shrouded in mystery. "I, Samia Suluhu Hassan, promise to be honest and obey and protect the constitution of Tanzania," Hassan swore with a Quran before dignitaries at a ceremony in Dar es Salaam.     The 61-year-old leader was sworn in at 10am local time on Friday. She ascended to the presidency after President Magufuli’s death due to heart disease was announced on Wednesday, Feb 17, more than two weeks after he disappeared from the public. Magufuli’s absence since February 27 had fuelled speculation about his health and sparked rumours he had contracted COVID-19, although officials had denied he was ill.  

UFC chief, Dana White has announced that fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov will be retiring from the sport. Khabib, one of the greatest fighters of all time, beat Justin Gaethje in October to make it 13 wins from 13 in UFC and an unbeaten 29-0 record overall. The news online amid rumours of a return to the octagon for the legendary Russian but those rumors have now been squashed by Khabib and Dana Whyte .   After both men had a dinner on Thursday night, Thursday March 18, they both confirmed the news on social media.   Davido would feature in yet another Hollywood movie. The FEM crooner recently appeared in the blockbuster comedy movie, Coming 2 America, by Eddie Murphy, where he performed his hit song, Assurance. The 28-year-old singer revealed he would be playing the role of a taxi driver in a film to be directed by Edward Zick, the man behind the movie ‘Blood Diamond’. Davido made the revelation  in a ‘Ionwanatalk’ podcast interview where he spoke about his career. The music star also said he had recorded two studio albums, adding that he was only waiting on the right time to put them out. He said:  “With me right now, I have two albums already made. I have movies coming out; so, I think I want to chill. I have another movie that I am doing with the dude that shot Blood Diamonds. I play a taxi driver.”
