  Nine suspected internet fraudsters have been arrested by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Benin Zonal Office.  The agency said the suspects were arrested on Tuesday, February 9, 2021,  following intelligence received by the Commission.  The suspects arrested are; Okosun Godspower, Imo Harry Hamilton, Efosa Desmond, Odiase Aifuwa, Idoko Onakpa, Dogìo Samson, Okukoje Godstime, Onuigbo Julius, and Osamulu Sunday. Items recovered from them include laptop computers, mobile phones, a Toyota Camry car, and a Luxus Jeep. According to EFCC, the suspects have made useful statements and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed.

  A Kenyan man has been sentenced to 30 years in jail for attempted murder after he chopped off his wife's hands.     It was described as the most atrocious cases of domestic violence, Stephen Ngila chopped off Jackline Mwende's hands with a machete in Machakos County on July 25, 2016, because she couldn't conceive after seven years of marriage.     Ngila, now 39, was given the sentence on Tuesday, February 9, after he was found guilty.   An Alabama man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for the death of his wife. William Jeffrey West was sentenced on Monday by Shelby County Circuit Judge Bill Bostick after he was convicted of manslaughter last year for the 2018 death of his wife, Kathleen Dawn West, 42. The 47-year-old will reportedly get credit for the three years he has already spent in jail since he was arrested in 2018.Kathleen, who posted revealing images of herself online as “Kitty Kat West,” was found dead outside the couple’s home in Calera, about 30 miles south of Birmingham.     Kat died from a blow to the head from a Lucid Absinthe bottle wielded by her husband, a jury said.   A woman named Loretta Eloho Ogbemi was kidnapped on Saturday, Feb 6, and loved ones are asking for help to find her. According to posts shared by friends online, Loretta was kidnapped at gunpoint last Saturday and hasn't been seen or heard from since then.     She had gone to work on that day at Biogbolo, Yenegoa, where she was kidnapped.     Emeka Felix, a friend of the missing woman tweeted: "Please guys, I need help finding my friend Loretta Eloho, she was kidnapped on the 6th of February and her family is in disarray right now... Loretta is a sweet soul that doesn't deserve this.   A Yale University graduate student from Chicago was killed over the weekend in a shooting near the New Haven, Connecticut, campus, with police now investigating whether he was targeted. The shooting took place in the East Rock neighborhood, in the area of Lawrence and Nicoll Streets, right around 8:30 Saturday night, February 6. New Haven Police Chief, Otoniel Reyes identified the slain student on Monday as 26-year-old Kevin Jiang of West Haven and asked for the public's help in identifying and capturing his killer. According to authorities,  Kevin was either in or near his car at the time of Saturday night's shooting in the city of New Haven. Investigators are looking into whether he was involved in a vehicle accident before the shooting in which he sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died on the scene.   Mary Wilson, a founding member of the iconic music group, The Supremes, has died at the age of 76.  The legendary singer, best known for co-founding the group at the age of just 15 alongside Diana Ross and Florence Ballard in Detroit, died suddenly at her home in Las Vegas on Monday, February 8. A cause of death is yet to be announced.      Her long-term publicist, Jay Schwartz confirmed her death to Fox and disclosed that Wilson's funeral service will be held privately in accordance with current health and safety guidelines.   The Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) has arrested two men, Abdulmumuni and Mohammed Sani, for their involvement in the recent killing at Miango community, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau state.  It will be recalled that suspected Fulani militia ambushed and killed two natives in Miango community, Raphael Bawa and Mabo Aga on Februray 2, 2021. The Commander of the OPSH, Major General Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, who paraded the suspects alongside others on Friday, said, investigation is still ongoing to determine their involvement in the killing. “Responding to the incident, troops of OPSH arrested the two suspects, Abdulmumuni and Mohammed Sani, who had in their possession rifle and a cash totalling N190, 000 in a nearby market in Miango. When interrogated, they were unable to explain how they got the money and rifle." he said.
