US finally backs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for Next WTO Director

The Biden administration on Friday, Feb 5, said the U.S. would support Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as the next director-general of the World Trade Organization, hours after South Korea’s trade minister stepped out of the race. The Biden administration’s decision is the last hurdle standing in the way of Ms. Okonjo-Iweala assuming the top job at the WTO, after South Korea’s Yoo Myung-hee pulled out. Last year, Ms. Okonjo-Iweala was supported by a majority of WTO members, but the Trump administration backed Ms. Yoo, saying she was better qualified. The office of the U.S. Trade Representative said in a statement Friday: "Dr. Okonjo-Iweala brings a wealth of knowledge in economics and international diplomacy from her 25 years with the World Bank and two terms as Nigerian Finance Minister." Cryptocurrency is a shortcut business, invest in real assets like cows - Former Presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba reacts to CBN's directive

  Former Presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba has waded into the cryptocurrency controversy which was triggered by the Central Bank of Nigeria's letter in which financial institutions were asked to close accounts "dealing in cryptocurrencies or facilitating payments for cryptocurrency".  Garba Adamu in his tweet alleged that many people have lost money through cryptocurrencies which he described as a "shortcut business". He also advised Nigerians to invest in real assets like cows.  The presidential aspirant added that "Cow Ranching business is more lucrative than all cryptocurrencies combined." He tweeted;    Better Investments! Those who might have lost their monies through a shortcut business called Crypto should learn to invest on real assets, like cows, which assured of huge returns on investment. Cow Ranching business is more lucrative than all cryptocurrencies combined. Lol.    

FG lifts ban on Emirates airline as UAE suspends rapid tests

The Federal Government has lifted the ban it placed on Emirates Airlines. The airline was barred from lifting passengers from Nigeria after the United Arab Emirates made it mandatory for such passengers to carry out Rapid Antigen Testing in laboratories that are not approved or authorized by the appropriate regulatory bodies. The UAE has now withdrawn the Rapid Antigen Testing requirements for its Nigerian passengers. Following this decision, the Presidential Task Force on COVID19 directed the immediate lifting of the suspension placed on the operations of Emirates Airlines in Nigeria. A letter by the Director-General of NCAA, Capt. Veteran rapper, Ruggedman has shared his thoughts on property acquisition by Nollywood actresses. In a tweet he shared, Ruggedman asked why only the female actors are the ones buying cars and building houses.  The rapper who wondered why the male actors are left behind, added that it has discouraged him from acting.  He tweeted;    My male actors in nollywood whats going on? Its just the females that are buying cars and building houses left and right. I wanted to come into nollywood but at this rate, I am not coming again
