Fenerbahce have asked fans to help fund Mesut Ozil's £13million salary despite the Turkish club in over £460m debt before signing the ex-Arsenal star earlier this month.  The German midfielder is currently in Istanbul to seal his transfer move to the Turkish giants after terminating his contract with Arsenal.  While at the Premier League club, Ozil was earning around £18million-a-year in wages and will be taking a pay cut when he completes a move to Fenerbahce.     However, the Turkish club's president Ali Koc has admitted his side needs financial support from fans to complete the move.  Koc announced: 'We have a request for our fans.   Security operatives attached to the University of Calabar have arrested two suspected thieves who stole electrical appliances including pressing irons and lamp holders at the students hostel.     The suspects were arrested on Friday, during a stop-and-search of all vehicles entering the campus and those going out. The stop-and-search was part of the measure put in place by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Banku Obi, to safeguard students and staff on campus including the critical infrastructure. It was gathered that the two men were among workers hired for the ongoing renovation work in the hostel. The duo confessed that they stole the items from the hostel after close of work. They have been handed over to the police for further interrogation and prosecution.  

A fugitive Nigerian drug dealer who skipped bail and fled South Africa more than three years ago after failing to appear in court has been rearrested while trying to re-enter the country on a flight from Nigeria.   Okonkwo Kingsley Nwabuike, 46, was rearrested at Johannesburg's OR Tambo International airport on Thursday, January 21, by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit.   “His arrest followed information received from Interpol about the suspect, who was circulated as wanted in August 2017 for dealing in drugs, said to be arriving at the airport in Johannesburg from Nigeria.   A 37-year-old man, Nonso Eze, has been arrested by men of the Anambra state police command for allegedly pushing his 23-year-old girlfriend from a five storey building in Awada, Onitsha yesterday January 23.   A statement released by the spokesperson of the command, Haruna Mohammed, states that at about 6:30am, men of the Awada police Station received a report that at about 3am, the victim fell from the 5th floor of the five storey building located at N0.6 Orakwe close, fizzle Awada Obosi in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.     Haruna said police operatives attached to Awada Division visited the scene, photographed the victim and rushed her to Bex hospital Onitsha for medical attention but was certified dead on arrival by a medical doctor. Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three men who beat a 23-year- old man to death over an alleged phone theft.   According to the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the three men identified as Ugo Obi, Chinonso Jude and Chibuke Samson, all of MTN street Iju Ota, were arrested following a report by one Ajibade Gbenga who reported at Onipanu divisional headquarters that his son Samuel Ajibade was alleged to have stolen two handsets by the suspects, consequent upon which the three suspects jointly beat him to state of comma.   Oyeymi said Ajibade informed the police that the deceased was rushed to general hospital ota for medical attention but was confirmed dead on arrival, by the doctor on duty.
