  French striker, Moussa Dembele has been officially unveiled as an Atletico Madrid player after completing a shock six-month loan move from Lyon to the LaLiga club on Wednesday. The 24-year-old was unveiled at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Thursday afternoon, January 14 and handed the No 19 shirt, which was previously worn by Spanish striker, Diego Costa.      Dembele was signed as a direct replacement for Costa, whose contract was terminated in December, with a reported £29.6million option to buy in the summer. A 51-year-old pastor, John Gichira has been sentenced to 140 years in prison for impregnating his two daughters aged 14 and 16 in Ndia Constituency, Kirinyaga County, Kenya.  Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrates, Anthony Mwicigi of Baricho High Court on Thursday, January 14, the pastor was slapped with a 70-year- jail term for sexually assaulting each of the girls. The court ruled that the sentence will run consecutively.  "I sentence you 70 years for each offense and you have 14 days to appeal. This court orders that your names to be added in the register of convicted and dangerous offenders." the Magistrate announced.  "Gichira will serve 70 years for each count of defilement; the sentences to run consecutively,” the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions said, citing a sentence in a Kirinyaga court. Tennis star, Andy Murray has reportedly tested positive for coronavirus ahead of the Australian Open next month. The 33-year-old Brit had been preparing for the year's first Grand Slam, the Australian Open. He was due to travel to Australia on one of the 18 charter flights laid on by tournament organisers but is still isolating at home, according to Mail Online. Murray, who is said to be in good health, is hoping to be able to arrive in Australia at a later date and still participate in the tournament which begins on February 8. The news comes after a minor outbreak at Roehampton’s National Tennis Centre last week - where Murray has done some of his recent training. American rapper, YFN Lucci, who is wanted for murder in connection with a shooting in December that left one man dead and another injured, has turned himself in to police. Police in Atlanta said on Wednesday evening January 13,  that Rayshawn Bennett, who goes by YFN Lucci, turned himself in and is currently at the Fulton County Jail. Bennett is facing charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, participation in criminal street gang activity, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was wanted on the multiple charges in connection with his alleged role in the December 10 shooting death of 28-year-old James Adams.  Two other suspects, Ra’von Boyd, 23, and Leroy Pitts, 17, were arrested in Miami on similar charges for their alleged roles in the murder of Adams. Suspected  armed robbers have killed a pastor, Kelvin Orumor in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State  Orumor, the General Overseer of Kingdom Advancement Christian Centre, was reportedly shot dead by the assailants at Edjeba area of Warri on Tuesday, January 12.      It was gathered that the cleric was killed during an operation by the gang at a shopping complex in a neighbourhood where he had visited. He was rushed to a government hospital where he was confirmed dead by doctors.  "We heard he walked into them when they were robbing a plaza. They shot him. He died before he got to the hospital." a source said.      

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's lectern which was looted by a rioter during the riot at the U.S. Capitol last week, has been returned.  One of the pro-Trump supporters, Adam Johnson was caught on camera grinning and waving while toting Pelosi’s lectern during the siege. Pope Francis and his predecessor, former pope Benedict XVI have received the Coronavirus vaccine as confirmed by the Vatican.  Spokesperson of the Vatican, Matteo Bruni said the spiritual leaders received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine "as part of the Vatican City State vaccination programme".    He said;    "I can confirm that, as part of the Vatican City State vaccination programme to date, the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine has been administered to Pope Francis and the Pope Emeritus."   It had already been reported that Pope Francis had received the jab on Wednesday January 13, the first day of the Vatican's vaccination drive, but officials declined to confirm the news. The Vatican News portal said 93-year-old Benedict was given a dose on Thursday morning.       The US House of Representatives has impeached President Donald Trump for "incitement of insurrection" at last week's Capitol riot, which claimed the lives of five people including a police officer.  The Republican is now the first president in US history to be twice impeached by Congress. The article of impeachment, for "incitement of insurrection," was adopted by the Democratic-controlled House, 232 to 197, after several hours of debate. A group of 10 Republicans joined Democrats in voting to impeach Trump. The 18-year-old who died during sex romp in Yobe government lodge has been identified as Bilikisu Ali. The teenager, who graduated from secondary school last year, reportedly had foam coming out of her mouth when her body was discovered in the lodge last week. A man named Dr Albash Yaya Ibrahim, who was a visitor in Damaturu, has been arrested in connection with her death. Dr Albash had allegedly requested 3 of his friends bring him a female companion for the night when he arrived Damaturu on January 6. Bilikisu Ali was the woman brought. However, hours later, Dr Albash raised alarm and reported the girl was lifeless.     According to the police, the teen had foam coming out of her mouth when her body was found. Albash admits he had sex with the girl but claims she died due to intake of drugs. Albash and the three friends who brought the teen to him have all been arrested.

University of Lagos has announced its resumption date. Mrs Olufadeke Akinleye, Head of the Media Unit of the university said Wednesday, Jan 13, that the institution would commence online classes on January 25 due to the second wave of COVID-19. This was disclosed in a statement signed by it’s Deputy Registrar, Information and Publications, Abdullahi Abdullahi. The statement reads: "The Senate of the University of Jos has considered and approved an amended Academic Calendar for 2019/2020 Session of the University. "At its 4th Special Meeting for the 2019/2020 Session held on Monday 11th January 2021, Senate approved that students are to resume for the continuation of the 2019/2020 Session as from Friday 22nd January 2021 with the reopening of the various campuses of the University. "According to the amended Academic Calendar, lectures would continue as from Monday, 25th January 2021."

The makeup artist, who initially responded with a joke when the rumours first started, has now clearly denied the affair.
